Been a few days since I have updated this, so I simmed an entire season to keep my Dynasty rolling along.. Year 5 17'-18' Coach Hernandez has completed the one of the greatest seasons in Vandals' history after finishing 11-2 and winning the Sun Belt conference championship as well as the New Orleans Bowl. The Vandals finished the season ranked and pre-season optimism is sky high. With plenty of SR's returning on both sides of the ball, this is sure to be a tough team in Hernandez's 5th year. Many experts are predicting another conference championship and Top-25 finish. Will the Vandals fold under the unfamiliar feeling of pressure to succeed? Will Pre-Season All-American Pat Washington have another spectacular year? These are just a few of the great story lines to follow this season, as BEAR DOWN for Vandal FOOTBALL! Idaho Goes Bowling Again, Back-to-Back for Coach Hernandez! Idaho has seen great success the last 2 seasons, and much of that success has been attributed to great coaching. However, a lot of credit has to go to Idaho's "Big 3". QB Matt Linehan, WR Pat Washington, and HB Richard Montgomery. All 3 are seniors this year, all 3 finished All-Conference this season, and all 3 have broken Vandals' school records at their respective positions. This school has seen great players at those positions, but never has Idaho been treated to 3 great players, all on the same team, blossoming at the same time. "It truly was something beautiful to watch," Coach Hernandez said after their bowl game. "I have known all 3 of these guy since they were freshman, and I saw the greatness in them. It was a privilege watching them realize that greatness, also. I have taught these players, and watched them grow in to great players, I hope they get an opportunity at the next level, because I think they each can do it." In their last game as Idaho Vandals, each of the big 3 showed what made them great. Pat Washington was a play-maker in the redzone, finishing with 2 TD catches, and 79 yds receiving. QB Matt Linehan finished with a QBR of 164.7, throwing 3 TD's and 0 INTs. RB Richard Montgomery ran the ball 23 times, for 122 yds and 2 TD's of his own. Akron fought hard, and kept it close. They were posied to try and make a game winning TD late in the 4th qtr, but the defense held. Idaho wins! Idaho wins! When asked about his future with the Vandals, and addressing the rumors of a possible new job opening. Coach Hernandez said, "There is no other school in this country I want to coach. This school took me in when I was an unknown, and I won't leave them now that I am known." Final Score: Idaho - 38 Akon - 32

Year 6 18'-19' With a 2nd bowl win under his belt, Coach Hernandez has finally hit the national spotlight. Widely regarded as the best up-and-coming coach in college football, Coach Hernandez has been extended a generous bonus by Idaho to ensure he remains with the team. With all the departure rumors addressed, and a new check in his bank account Coach Hernandez can now get back to work. Last season Idaho lost some great players, and now they will have to get some solid recruits to fill those voids. This should not be as hard as it was in year's past, Idaho is becoming more and more popular a destination for recruits. Idaho now welcomes 3-star and 4-star prospects on to the campus regularly.Coach Hernandez is known for his great work with LB's and at the Safety position. So prospects at those positions are all lining up for a chance to visit the Idaho campus. The Sun Belt Conference got 3 new additions this summer, Rice, UAB, and FAU have agreed to join the Sun Belt in football only, beginning this season. With the new additions to the conference, the Sun Belt will now hold it's own Championship game at the end of each season to determine the champion. Year 7 19'-20' Coach Hernandez has helped Idaho football reach unprecedented heights in his last 7 years. Coming off of his 3rd straight bowl-game win and his 2nd conference championship in the last 3 years, Coach Hernandez is receiving much praise as the hottest up-and-coming coach on the market. With offers pouring in every off-season from the most prestigious programs in the country, folks in Idaho are worried again about his future with the team. Hernandez has 2 more years left on the current contract, and many rumors are floating around the web on what he will do next. Many believe he is waiting the great Mack Brown to retire, to accept a HC position at his alma-mater University of Texas. Nobody knows exactly when Brown's run will come to an end, but at 68 years old, one would have to guess it will be fairly soon. Coach Hernandez has not addressed these rumors as of yet, which of course has done nothing but fuel them more. Idaho certainly is doing everything they can to keep Hernandez, and one would think that he has plenty of reasons to stay. Idaho is one the hottest teams in the country right now, and they are gaining more and more fans each day. Not to mention prospects are taking notice as well, Idaho signed their first-ever 5 star recruit last season. The top tight-end prospect in the country last year, Chris Bennet, will debut in the season opener for the Vandals. Idaho has a great team this season, and is returning a great front-7 on defense that should be the heart and soul of this team. With 6 pre-season all conference players, they are favored to repeat as Sun Belt champs. Idaho also, will be listed in the pre-season top-25, coming in last on the list at #25. Since I did not cover it earlier.. here is the new make-up of the Sun Belt Conference. There are 2 divisions East and West. There are no locked-rivalry games. Of the new divisions, the Western division is the stronger division. Idaho, Rice, Texas State, and Arkansas State all finished with winning records last season, as opposed to the eastern division, which only saw ULL finish above .500 East: West:
Season Review: Cal - 17 Idaho - 34 Idaho opened the season with a W. Playing tough defense, Idaho held the Golden Bears to just 5 3rd-down conversions, and 66% in the red-zone. The offense played superbly, gaining464 yards of total offense, including 229 yards rushing. Idaho pulled away early, scoring 28 first half points, and coasting to the win in the 2nd half. Idaho - 21 Boise State - 45 A tough loss at home for the Vandals, as it was their worst loss in nearly 3 years. This rivalry game was close, until a high scoring 3rd quarter put the Broncos up for good. Boise outscored the Vandals 28-7 in the 2nd half to leave Moscow with the win. Boise HB Dustin Ray gained 112 yds on 14 carries and added 2 TDs to carry his team to victory. Virginia - 31 Idaho - 24 The Idaho Vandals lose a heart-breaker to the Virginia Cavaliers. A hard-fought game that came down to the last few minutes of regulation, but ultimately Idaho couldn't pull the miracle. Idaho was leading by 10 points heading into the 4th quarter, and looked like they were going to schock the #13 ranked Cavaliers. However, a 17-point 4th quarter completed the comeback for Virginia. The Cavaliers would finish the season ranked #4 nationally. Idaho - 48 Florida Atlantic - 14 A beat down of conference opponent FAU took place in Moscow. The Owls never stood a chance as Idaho came out hot and 21 points in the first half. 3 interceptions by Idaho made this game a blow out. Idaho QB Javan Scott threw 3 TDs in the win. UAB - 21 Idaho - 42 Another conference game, another easy win. Idaho went into Birmingham and punched the Blazers around for 3 quarters, taking a 35-0 lead. 3 late score by the Blazers, made this score line respectable, in the end. QB Javan Scott finished with a QBR of 196.2, and threw 0 INts and 3 TDS. ULL - 38 Idaho - 31 In what is quickly becoming the best match-up in the Sun Belt, the Ragin' Cajuns handed Idaho their first conference loss of the year. These 2 teams are widely considered the top 2 programs in the conference and they proved why in this game. Trading punches all game long, this game was never more than a one possession lead for either team. The Cajuns won with a late score with only 1 minute left, to stun the Vandals. NMSU - 42 Idaho - 45 Another close call against the Aggies, in this game. The Vandals have traditionally struggled against NMSU for some reason under Coach Hernandez, and that continued this year. Against what was considered and easy opponent, the Vandals sure made things awfully difficult. A last-second FG won it for the Vandals. NMSU QB Mike Young had an impressive game despite the loss, finishing with 5 TDs. Idaho - 42 South Alabama - 14 Idaho improves to 3-1 in conference with a decisive win over USA. The Vandals, showed why they are the conference champions, playing sound defense through out. The Vandals held the Jaguars to just 20% on 3rd downs and forced 3 turnovers. Rice - 41 Idaho - 38 Idaho loses another close divisional game, this time to the Rice Owls. Idaho scored a TD late to bring them within 3 points, but were unable to recover the onside kick. Rice played very aggressively on offense, throwing the ball 51 times, and racking up 456 yds through the air. Idaho - 45 Texas State - 13 The Vandals post another blowout in the Kibbie Dome. This time, it was conference-leading Texas State who left Idaho bruised and battered. The Bobcats had only 1 conference until this game, but lose the Western division lead with this loss. Idaho's fate is in their own hands now, and can seal the division by winning the next 2 games. Arkansas State - 35 Idaho - 42 A tough win on the road for Hernandez's team, but they battled late to steal a win. Trailing at half time, the Vandals rallied to score 28 points in the 2nd half. They won the game by recovering an onside kick with :55 left. Idaho improves to 7-4 on the season and 6-2 in conference play. ULM - 14 Idaho - 35 The Vandals came out slow again in their final regular season game. They only score 1 TD in the first half to trail, 14-7 at half time. A shut-out in the 2nd half by the Vandals' defense gave them the victory. Idaho would score 28 unanswered points to put away the Warhawks, and seal up the Western division. Idaho Wins Back-to-Back Sun Belt Titles, 3rd in 4 years For the 2nd season in a row, the Vandals are facing off against the Ragin' Cajuns in the Sun Belt Championship game. This match-up has become quite familiar to Sun Belt fans in recent years, as they have been almost even in the series match-ups over the last 4 years, with Idaho holding a 5-4 series lead, including last year's conference championship. One of these 2 teams has been crowned conference champions in 3 of the last 5 years, and they both come into this game ranked in the Top-25. ULL defeated Idaho 38-31 in Week 8 of the regular season this year, so Idaho has been 'hyped up' all week for this rematch. All-American DT Lukas Robinson had this to say about Idaho's preparation leading up to the game. "We have been practicing our a%$#& off, and we are gonna unleash hell on them on Saturday!" That is exactly what happened in this game. Idaho came out and established themselves as the dominant team, early on. They took the lead and never looked back. ULL looked over-matched and intimidated all game long. Idaho was simply the better team, and that was obvious. Idaho moved the ball at will, getting in to the red-zone 7 times, while only allowing the Cajuns in the red-zone one time. The Vandals converted 25 1st downs, while only allowing ULL 11. Idaho's defense even got involved in the scoring, as SR CB Tony Lemon returned an INT 34 yards for a TD. Idaho outscored ULL 41-3 through 3 quarters in this game, until subbing out their starters in the 4th quarter. The final score was Idaho 41 ULL 13. Final Score: Idaho - 41 ULL - 13

Let's begin with Nick Saban. At age 68, Saban has decided to step away from college football. In what has been described as "Armageddon" in Tuscaloosa, fans are definitely proclaiming the end of the world, as they know it. Saban led the Crimson Tide to a amazing 11 bowl games since 07' and only had 1 season with a losing record. Including his 4 National Championships, it is no wonder to see why the entire state of Alabama is on suicide watch. Big news was made in Columbus, when Ohio State fired Coach Urban Meyer after 8 seasons with the Buckeyes. Meyer's career with OSU did not have a story book ending as his last season was by far his worst season, as the Buckeyes finished with the worst record the school has had since 1988, 4-8. Meyer never won a National Title with OSU, but he did lead them to 3 12-win seasons and 4 bowl games. After his firing, it was reported that Meyer has accepted the HC position at the University of Cinicinnati. Looks like Meyer isn't leaving Ohio, yet. Will Muschamp is another prominent coach who was shown the door this off-season. After posting 2 straight seasons with no Bowl game, the Gators have let go of Muschamp. Muschamp has signed a 5-year contract with Boston College, and he will be their HC next year. Lane Kiffin saw a lot of success from 13'-17' as USC's HC. He won 2 PAC-12 Championships and went to 4 straight bowl games. However since then he has not made a bowl game appearance, and he has 2 losing seasons in the last 3 years. USC decided to go a different direction this year, and has let Kiffin go. No word has been given on future plans for the coach. Conference Re-Alignment 2020 Edition Here are the changes being made this off-season to the NCAA Conference picture, teams are listed under their new conference:
It looks like the ACC is the new power conference, without the titles though. and I'm surprised how Texas State did. I like how you set up your conference, your side is the power and the other looks like a building ground. Keep up the awesome work! I never thought about using the 'rivals' logos for the final top 25. Nice!
Year 8 20'-21' Idaho has become the model of consistency over the last 4 years. Finishing with a 10 or 11 win season is quite a feat on it's own, Idaho has done that the last 4 years in a row. They have consistently been good enough to crack the AP Polls, but never good enough to get into the Top-10. The Vandals are singing a different tune this season, and are looking a Top-10 finish, to finally get them over the hump and into the top-tier of College football. "Being in a small market, with a small school and even smaller stadium, it is tough for sure. But I think the nation has to take notice with what we are doing up here, with Boise being as good as they have been, and now us consistently getting bowl games, we are putting Idaho football on the map." Coach Hernandez said at the Sun Belt Media Day. "We have some great players, and this is truly the best team I have ever coached talent-wise. We have depth, and some star players who are pre-season All-Americans. I think Lukas and Javan are gonna lead our team and get some national attention this year." he continued. Idaho has improved every single season under Coach Hernandez, and that is no different this year. With analysts rating Idaho at B+ or better in every aspect of the game, Idaho definitely has the talent to be the best in college football. Nothing is for certain in football, but nobody will be surprised if this team ends up with a BCS bid at the end of the season. Going to try and turn this into more of a video based dynasty. After going through 7 seasons with write-ups, I am going to breathe some life back into this with some game films/ commentary, don't know if it will turn out good or be too much work, yet. Going to give it a go this season and see how it turns out.
