I'll take on the role as captain of one of the teams and my first pick in the TFO draft is Rush, haha! @rushers24 What do ya say rush?
I don't like the idea of not having kill streaks. For me that's half the fun in playing the game, and MLG always takes the some of fun out of the game with their rules. I used to play in MLG events, but I just don't play that competitively anymore. I'm not saying I won't do it, but I'll need to think about it. If I did do it I would want to form my own team. One question though... would this be played online? If it requires traveling to different cities to play like in Halo then I'm def out.
I am also thinking random captains. As for rules, that was just an example I posted.....everything is up for negotiation. So let's hear it bitches!
This isn't real MLG. -.- This would basically just be a couple of series with the MLG rules. Kill Streaks are removed from the MLG rules to prevent camping for kill streaks.
Is it possible to just disable some killstreaks? For example, I'd be okay if the killstreaks were just like - RCXD, Spy and Counter spy plane, Sentry gun. Basically all of them below the Chopper and Napalm Strike. If you pick random captains then whats the point? No one knows how everyone plays so I think that defeats the purpose. Might as well just do random teams I say.
What are you talking about? I wasn't sure if this was a real MLG event or not, and I'm still not. Are we just playing against our own teams? Somebody needs to explain this better. And if we are creating this ourselves, why not come up with our own rules instead of using MLG's? I went MLG Chicago years back and I used to have my own team in Halo. I just don't like their set of rules because they strip too much of the game. Kill streaks do come with some camping, buts thats Call of Duty. At minimum we should be able to use UAV's and Counter UAV's, and some of the smaller kill streaks.
I did. You posted a MLG logo and all their rules. As far as I know all MLG events are played in different cities and not online. I didn't see anything saying that we would only be playing strictly against other TSO members on Xbox Live.
Its an Idea. Because it is an idea nothing is finalized. I started this thread for discussion, others ideas, and opinions so we could establish the rules and whatnot. Also TSO MLG Circuit, this also emphasizes that it will consist of TF members like an MLG inspired TSO circuit. WE, keyword is WE. As in TF members in TSO. Because we are an online gaming community you should assume that we would be playing online with xbox live. Everything is TBD. Meaning its up for discussion. Nothing is set in stone. This is the first time we have done this so to get an anchor or a reference point I posted MLG rules/settings as an example. I didn't expect us to follow those but rather to get a general idea and tweak from there on. Does it make more sense now?
I think we should have captains...not necessarily random. Lets see who wants it (Keller's already asked). We can vote on the captains if there are more than 4 step up. Also, I like the idea of only smaller killstreaks. UAV's etc... So what's the stopping limit? Chopper Gunner? Napalm Strike?
I think everything should be fair game. We should play the game the way it was intended. Kill streaks are a major part of the game, and in my opinion COD wouldn't be as fun if they were removed. And sitting in a corner waiting for people to come will not always get you your streaks. There are grenades to smoke people out and blind them, UAV's, Blackbirds to hunt these people down on radar, as well as air strikes and the RC-XD. If I get killed by someone who is sitting by a corner camping, the first thing I do is go back there and toss a nice little flash bang and kill his dumb ass. Getting the Chopper Gunner and the Gun Ship are amazingly fun! But they are not unstoppable. Any good team will have at least one player with a class designed to shoot down the choppers. When I get those kill streaks against good players online, I typically get a couple kills before getting shot down. Also in Objective games where kills don't matter, the Chopper Gunner and the higher kill streaks won't guarantee you a win. There have been plenty of occasions where I have gotten these kill streaks and my teams sill lost in a objective game. I think all the kill streaks are pretty balanced. There are perks that counter the dogs and the Choppers and doesn't allow them to target you. The Chopper Gunner and the Gun Ship's can be shot down. There's no guarantee that you will kill anyone with the Rolling Thunder or the Napalm Strike, actually I usually kill myself with the Rolling Thunder haha. As long as we keep the kill streaks I would love to play.
MLG has an online circuit as well. I would be against kill streaks, I really think it takes a lot of the fun out of the game. Objective Barebones was by far the best playlist in MW2! It's whatever though.
Flying around in a Gunship and shooting people in a Chopper Gunner isn't fun to you? Have you ever gotten the Gunship? It's amazing, and it's fun. Even if I get shot down within a few seconds it's still awesome. Using the kill streaks is how the game was meant to be played. Sure there are alternative games for other people who don't like it. But the majority of players online play with the kill streaks. If you take out those features then COD turns into a normal shooter. There really wouldn't be anything special about the game that other games haven't already done. Kill streaks make the game unique from other shooters. Each kill streak has a pro and con too it. There are perks and weapons to counter the choppers. Why take it out?
I think that while not having kill streaks would make the overall online experience less exciting against randoms, that going without would make a league format more enjoyable. It would focus more on team and gun play. Instead of spy planes you will have to communicate with your teammates better than your opponent, you have to build the proper class and go into battle with it. I may be wrong but I am looking at this idea as a team based format, where proper team work and skill will prevail. I want in on this and if we are voting I say no kill streaks at all. I also think we should nominate captains but then give them random users on their teams. So say Keller and NIU are captains, they dont pick but we put the remaining people into a random order generator and slot them into whichever team they end up on.
I completely agree with you here Cole. I think Killstreak Perks are fun when you are owning faces at random, but in a team type situation, I think it takes away the excitement of having to work together and communicate to meet your objective..
I guess for me I would say if we are cutting some out to allow the Counter Spy-Plane, The airdrop, attack dogs. I like the random airdrop, could provide some interesting twist. Counter Spy-Plane could also make communication more difficult, while not giving a huge advantage to the other team.
We can make it move, seems like we have enough interest to get atleast three teams together. A minimum of 4 would be optimal.
I am not very good at the game but would be interested in doing this. Please don't worry about me being a Brit: A: I ain't your typical Brit B: Your times are good for me 99% of the time.
