    In Focus: Alabama

    Alabama Crimson Tide

ryty32's Crimson Tide comes off a National Championship year, and they
are firmly in control of their own destiny this season. Bama was the
preseason #1. A few questions must be answered before if we can decide
if this team is the real deal.

    1. Can Bama rip through this tough schedule?

      Week Opponent
      1 NC State
      2 @TAMU (T2Express)
      3 Arkansas
      4 Kentucky
      5 BYE
      6 @Georgia (cimmy)
      7 BYE
      8 @Olemiss
      9 Tennessee
      10 LSU (controllerabuser)
      11 @MissSt
      12 Oklahoma State
      13 @Auburn
      14 @Miami (JCA8089)
      15 BYE

... and if they can get through that, the trip to the BCS championship game goes through the SEC CCG vs most likely:

      Georgia or Florida

Thats just getting back there. Tough task.

    2. What about injuries?
What this team doesn't lack is playmakers... but what they do lack is depth. Especially along the trenches and at QB. Here is what their 2nd string would look like:

      Position Name Overall Rating
      QB Brian Davis 82
      LT Clint Richards 79
      LG Greg Watson 82
      C Tony Fisher 93
      RG Vernon Rice 91
      RT Abdul Gatewood 81
      LE Tyler Davis 79
      RE Reggie Stevens 84
      DT William Mitchell 82

*Note: Bama uses a 7man rotation on the offensive line.

A hit to starting QB AJ McCarron would be devastating. Brian Davis, despite being a redshirt junion, has thrown only 1 carreer pass, has a weak arm and can be easily rattled (59 overall awareness).

    3. Can coach keep all his players happy?

Bama has three studs in the top 5 of the Heisman race.

Heisman Standings (as of week 3)
      Rank Position Name Team Year
#1 QB Garrett Gilbert Texas Senior :)RS:)
#2 WR Eugene Alexander Alabama Sophmore
#2 WR Doug Castillo LSU Senior
#4 HB Trent Richardson Alabama Senior :)RS:)
#5 WR Kendall Kelly Alabama Senior :)RS:)

      Can they do it?

      Column 1 Column 2
[IMG] Circle week 10. By then QB McCarron will have taken quite a few blows and might be banged up. Week 10 is also a rivalry game where controllerabuser's Tigers will be coming to town. LSU is the one team on the schedule that can match the team speed, power and skill that Bama brings to the table. At that point it will come down to the coaching. My money goes on LSU playing spoiler and breaking up their chances for a repeat national championship.

    Thanks, Omni. Great Work!

I agree with everything posted. After 4 straight wins over LSU, they have to beat me sometime.
