The Youth Movement Continues in Indy After a dissappointing end to the 2013 season, the Colts come back in the 2015 season revamped and ready to improve on a season that saw them go 14-2 only to lose in the divisional round to the eventual champion Ravens. The front office feels the teams is vastly improved from their 2013 season and are expecting big things from this team despite the fact they're entering the season with 21 out of 22 starters under the age of 30. Gone are the familiar faces of Reggie Wayne and Robert Mathis who have both retired so the team is hoping 4th year QB Andrew Luck will step up and assume the leadership role along with veteran safety Antoine Bethea. Quarterback - Andrew Luck(90) & Mark Sanchez(75) Luck is the unquestioned starter and is looking to improve from the 2013 season where he made the probowl and mostly managed the game to limit turnovers. More of a burden will be placed on Luck this season to make plays with the passing game in case teams try to focus on 2013 MVP Bernard Pierce. Mark Sanchez was signed in free agency to provide a solid veteran backup. Running Back - Bernard Pierce(87), Freddie Barclay(71), Telvin Barr(67) 2013 MVP and OPOY Bernard Pierce returns as the lead back looking to improve on an amazing season. Pierce comes back much improved with higher CAR and ELU ratings but also higher CTH ratings as the team plans to use him more in the passing game. Barclay was drafted in the bottom of the 3rd rd of the 2014 draft to spell Pierce and to provide explosiveness. Barr will most likely be a special teams player but could see spot duty. Wide Receiver - Denarius Moore(86), DHB (84), TY Hilton(79), TJ Graham(74), Donald Jones(74) The WR corps led by big free agent aquisition Denarius Moore will look to provide explosive plays in the passing game for Luck. With each WR possessing 95+ speed with the exception of Jones, the Colts will look to make defenses pay if they decide to put 8 in the box to stop Pierce. Tight End - Cody Fleener(86), Dwayne Allen(84), Nelson Rosario(74) Cody Fleener returns as the main target at tight end and Luck's safety valve whenever he gets in trouble. Fleener will look to have a breakout year due to the attention placed on Pierce and the wideouts. Allen is more of a blocker and will be used to seal the edge in 2 TE sets but is also a more than capable receiver, just lacks speed. Rosario will be called upon in in spot duty as a receiving TE and could possibly supplant Allen if he plays well. Left Tackle - Anthony Castanzo(85) Castanzo is once again given the job of protecting Luck's blindside. Castanzo did a great job in 2013 and is looking to even do better as he has gotten stronger and quicker to counter speed rushers as well as power rushers. Left Guard - Antoine Caldwell(89), Lucas Nix(81), Tramon Hooks(78) Caldwell enters the season as the unquestioned starter but he is definitely being pushed by Nix and Hooks. Nix was signed in the offseason to provide depth but when the front office saw Hooks was available with 1 of their 3rd rd picks they had to take him and have impressed at his ratings. Hooks has a chance to take over the starting job sooner than later. Center - Samson Satele(80), Khaled Holmes(74) Although Satele is rated higher, Holmes enters the season as the starter but nothing is guaranteed beyond that point. With so much depth on the offensive line, the coaching staff may shuffle some people around to put the best 5 blockers on the field at all times regardless of position. Right Guard - Hugh Thornton(80), Greg Guthe(77), Vintize Green(75) Thornton has the job for now but 3rd rd pick Greg Guthe is definitely pushing him in practice. After being selected in the 3rd rd, Guthe has come into camp focused and determined on gaining that starting position. Green will provide depth while he works on his RBK. Right Tackle - Ben Ijalana(80) Ijalana comes into his 2nd season as the start and has progressed very well from 2 years ago. The front office is hoping Ijalana will continue to progress as he notices all the competition along the front line but have confidence he will maintain the job.
