Had my first goal yesterday! Also beat the keep on a breakaway but missed with my left foot. Felt a lot less winded this go round but my feet are absolutely tore up. I've been playing in tennis shoes but I think I may get a pair of cleats. Any tips on cleats/breaking them in/what socks to wear with them etc? Glad i started this its so much fun!
Yeah, until your cleats get broken in you'll probably get some pretty nice blisters. I typically get them on the back of my heal. I used to get them on my feet and toes like that but I think it just callused over enough where I don't get them as much anymore lol. I've heard that taking a shower in your cleats helps break them in, and forms them to your foot, but I've never actually tried it.
wear a thin pair or socks under your soccer socks to prevent blisters...the socks rub instead of your skin you can use thin dress socks or find some thin running socks...they work best the best way to break new cleats in is to wear them around the house...that way they shape to your foot but you aren't running around causing frictio0n and blisters in the old days you could wear cleats in the shower and let them dry on your feet to get a glove fit....but modern cleats aren't typically made of kangaroo [which was the best] or any real leather for that matter...everything is high tech light weight synthetics and a shower wont do anything to them
Depends on what kind of flooring you have. I try to avoid walking on hard surfaces with my cleats at any time. If you have carpets that'll be fine. I guess it depends on the cleats too. I have f50s that have little rubbers at the end of the cleats that I don't want ruined for better ball grip so I only wear them over grass. You don't have to be as anal ofcourse.
Round 3 lastnight. Had 1 goal 1 assist and ran my ass off. I love this stuff. I just signed up for a Co-ed outdoor rec league that plays 2 nights a week in a neighboring town starting April 9th. Thats my next adventure. I'm looking to get outside and see how much different the natural game is.
I just picked up a pair of F50's and can definitely say the ball felt different (in a good way) at indoor lastnight compared to my regular tennis shoes.
Actually for indoor Predators are the real deal, when I talked about F50s, those were my cleats. Predators are so nice, they don't even need breaking. Good to go from day 1.
Nice, I don't have the funds to have two pair atm tho so I'm going to have to double up the F50s for indoor and out.
I was introduced to a coed, outdoor, adult summer league out here last week. A year too late and a year too early. I'll definitely be looking to get back into the game next summer, which I haven't played since my first stint in college about 12 years ago.
Scored a peach Tuesday...ball roll through a challengers legs, upper 90 finish Best goal I've scored in a looong time
Couple recaps on my last two games. Also the start of the newest indoor session. First game: FINALLY got to come out of goal and play a little in the field. Blew two beautiful chances at my first goal in 3 years of playing soccer. Rather disappointed. Afterschocks (our team name) victory 10-2. Second Game: Back in goal and very intense. Busy yelling at my team to mark players on a corner i let a threatening ground cross get right by me where an unmarked attacker was there for the tap. Then got beat in a one on one. With no offsides in indoor there was a cheeky lil bastard cherry picking like crazy so they play a long ball to him just on the edge of the 18 (i thought) where i challenged him for the ball and just cleaned his clock. PK was awarded. First time i've ever been involved in a PK. Different kid lines up to take the kick, shows right (where i end up diving) but goes low middle. Was able to keep my left leg down to kill the shot and dive on top of it. So exhilarating. After the two teams exchange another goal it ends in a 3-3 draw.
Good stuff. I have a nice rub on my left heel from playing again. Penn State's Intramural League started up this passed week. I snagged a pair of these bad boys last year... Predators are great. Last year we played on artificial, this year its natural.
I grabbed these yesterday for outdoor. After using the turf and indoor versions, I'm in so much love I had to. And my F50s have been feeling weird for my ankle lately. Good thing is my wife and I use the same size shoes, she's taking over my F50s, so it's not going to waste at least. In other news for those that need an interesting story, I got banned from my favorite indoor place on Thursday night after attacking my teammate and then punching the fiber glass repeatedly with fury cos I didn't wanna go to jail for breaking his piece of shit neck. Fun times huh?
This is what i'm rockin on the pitch. Have only been able to wear them on turf. Looking forward to May/June when i get to put them on some grass.
It is. I almost love shopping cleats as much as a woman likes shopping for shoes. Probably not a good thing.
I'm going boot shopping soon, my mercurials have worn down and after losing some weight they dont fit my foot as well as before. Need boots for accuracy and touch. I'm very much a one-two touch player, and dont really care about speed. I just need boots that dont get in the way of my control and let my feet do the work.
