In this edition of Inside the Q we take a look at the rookies and who I feel will have the biggest impact on the virtual gridiron. It certainly wasn’t easy picking only a few but we all know certain positions in madden stand out more than others so that is what this list is based off.

    Offense

    QB Blake Bortles(3) – Jaguars Ninersfan80
    [IMG]
The first quarterback taken in the draft, Bortles should be penciled in as the starter from day 1. Blessed with great passing attributes such as 92 THP, 86 TAS, 79 TAM and 76 TAD Bortles should be able to make basically any throw from the start. Being given a 73 speed isn’t too shabby as well as Bortles should be able to make some plays with his feet.

WR Sammy Watkins(4) – Bills dablakpope
    [IMG]
Although I think Watkins was given a raw deal in the speed department, a 93 still isn’t anything to be mad about. Watkins’ combination of size and speed will make EJ Manuel very happy as Watkins also boasts ratings of 95 ACC, 88 CTH, 87 SPC, 77 CIT and 76 RR.

TE Eric Ebron(10) – Lions Warhawk AKA dreadman
    [IMG]
It appears the Lions finally have their pass catching Tight End to take some pressure off of Megatron in the middle of the field. Ebron enters with 85 SPD, 90 ACC, 80 CTH and 87 SPC, in other words a nightmare for opposing LB’s and Safeties to cover.

WR Brandin Cooks(20) – Saints ThaBayouChef
    [IMG]
Cooks is on this list, solely because of the offense he is in and the QB that will be throwing him the ball. In the past, we’ve seen Brees make stars out of guys like Lance Moore and Robert Meachem and Cooks comes in better than both. Cooks will see plenty of 1 on 1 coverage with guys like Jimmy Graham and Marcus Colston on his team and his 95 SPD, 96 ACC, 96 AGI and 85 CTH will be put to good use in this offense.

QB Johnny Manziel(22) – Browns LtJustice
    [IMG]
As the owner of a division rival, I am not looking forward to facing Johnny Football twice a year. Not only is Manziel fast(82 SPD with 91 ACC) but he comes in with a great arm (90 THP) and accuracy(87 TAS, 75 TAM, 82 TAD). Manziel will definitely be a nightmare to gameplan for.

    Honorable Mention:
WR Mike Evans(7) – Bucs Jeremy
    WR Odell Beckham(12) – Giants cry_havoc

    Defense

    OLB Jadeveon Clowney(1) – Texans dakota7
    [IMG]
As the number 1 pick there will be high expectations for Mr. Clowney and with the ratings he has, he should have no problem living up to them. Clowney enters with 88 SPD, 92 ACC, 94 PMV, 85 FMV, 82 BSH and 95 HPW. Opposing offenses will definitely have to know where Clowney is lined up at all times or you will be in for a long day.

OLB Khalil Mack(5) – Raiders RVallee
    [IMG]
Entering with attributes similar to Clowney, Khalil Mack will be a difference maker from day one. Not only is he fast(87 SPD & 91 ACC) but his 90 PMV and 84 BSH will make him a major problem when he puts his hand in the ground in nickel and dime situations.

CB Justin Gilbert(8) – Browns LtJustice
    [IMG]
Paired with arguably the top CB on the other side, Gilbert will have the luxury of not having to face #1 WR’s on a weekly basis. However, it’s not to say that Gilbert couldn’t hold his own against #1’s with 94 SPD and ACC, 75 CTH, and coverage ratings of 85 in man and 86 in zone.

OLB Anthony Barr(9) – Vikings JSimms
    [IMG]
Looking to add a difference maker on defense the Vikings drafted explosive OLB Anthony Barr. Barr comes in as one of the fastest LB’s in the game with 90 SPD but will need to improve his 76 tackling. However, on passing downs his 89 PMV will come into handy when going up against inferior tackles on the outside.

    MLB Ryan Shazier(15) – Steelers thafuture3886
    [IMG]
Easily the fastest rookie LB and 1 of the fastest LB’s in the game, Shazier will be looked upon to provide many plays in the middle of the Steelers defense. His combination of speed(92) and power(83) will be a welcomed addition to a defense severely lacking speed. He will need to improve upon his 74 BSH to be the dominant force the Steelers hope but for now, his speed will be his biggest asset.

    Honorable Mention:
    ILB CJ Mosley(17) – Ravens guitarDADDY1208
    S Calvin Pryor(18) – Jets klaximilian

    Good stuff thafuture3886 !

Barr is a LB-usering dream, and a lone bright spot on an otherwise weak Minny D.

Great write up thafuture3886, but why do all these rookie images look like they came from a PS2?

Also, Pryor's 95 PWR is not to be f*cked with. ;)

That's what happens when you use screenshots from a Game Genie.

Just shitting you, Curtis. Nice writeup. Good to see stuff like this as it relates to Madden and the league! (y)
