Iowa St Holds Off Late Rally From Syracuse
Iowa St HB Alexander Robinson rushed for 74 yards and a touchdown and also added 36 yards receiving and the Cyclones defense held Syracuse in check most of the game on there way to an impressive 17-14 win over the Orangemen to start the season.
QB Austed Amaud went 17-28 for 200 yards and a touchdown. He did struggle with control as he threw 2 interceptions.
Darius Reynolds would lead the team with 5 cathes for 49 yards and a touchdown.
Syracuse struck first on a 2 yard TD run by Carter to put them up 6-0 after missing the PAT. Iowa St struck back when Amaud hooked up with Reynolds for an 8 yard touchdown pass to make it 7-6 after one.
Iowa St would add a field goal and a Robinson 1 yd TD run to make it 17-6 at the half. Syracuse missed two key field goals in the third that would prove to be a dagger.
The final half was a dud for Iowa St as Amaud was picked two times in Syracuse Territory. Syracuse hit pay dirt in the 4th when Carter broke free for a 50 yard touchdown run. Syracuse made the 2 point conversion and they trailed by 3 with 2:00 minutes left.
Rather than go for the onside kick, Syracuse opted to kick the ball to Iowa st who converted 3 thrird downs and ran the clock out.
Greg Paulis making his debut for the Syracuse team was 13-26 for 161 yards and a pick.
Delone Carter was the main star running for 155 yards on 18 carries and 2 touchdowns.

Iowa St jumped out early 14-0 before holding off a Hawkeye run and walking away with a nice 28-14 win over there arch rivals.
Player Of The Game-
This one is Hard. HB Alexander Robinson had 125 yards and 2 TD's on 28 attempts. He also caught 7 catches for 71 yards.
On the other side, it was True Freshman Roosevelt Maggit. This LE had 5 sacks to break the 24 year old school record of 4 in a game.
Add to that James Smith who picked off the Hawkeyes on the final drive with Iowa up by a TD and putting it away with a 64 yard return for a touchdown.
The Cyclones were all over the Hawkeyes in this one. The defense held the Hawkeyes to just 227 yards total. The Hawkeyes running attack was 36 yards on 24 carries. Very impressive compared to last week. The Cyclones had 385 yards total.
The Cyclones jumped out 14-0 midway through the 2nd after two touchdown runs by Alexander Robinson. Iowa scored late in the 2nd to make it 14-7 at the half.
Iowa got the kickoff and took it down the field on 12 plays and 60 yards to be capped by a 12 yard touchdown rrun by Andrew Robinson to make it 14-14 after three.
The FOurth opened with a nice drive by the Cyclones to manage a 41 yard field goal to take a 3 point lead. Iowa St would add another field goal with 2:00 minutes left and it was followed by the Smith INT return with a 2 point conversion to end it.
