While his sack numbers were down he did a great job of setting the edge and actually increased his production against the run. You say he is 30 years old right now which is ok consider that he played in the CFL which is a shorter season as well as smaller players and less pounding on his body. Wake will be atleast an above average defender for the next 2 seasons. After that a majority of the contract is paid. Miami is basically paying Wake for his previous performances which he deserves. As long as he is an above average run defender and can still get after the passer he should be fine for that contract. Consider that pass rushers are coming at a premium now a days. Consider Carolina payed Charles Johnson 32 Million last season alone

Thats going to be a fun cap number to deal with starting madden 13. Hopefully they are kind in his lack of regression.

$20 million guaranteed vs $50 million guaranteed for Mario Williams. Not bad for one of the best pass rushers in the league.

Wake = 3 years older than Williams so I'm more okay with Williams deal than Wake's. Wake's is going to suck on the cap.
