    Jaguars Recover In Time
defeat Minnesota on last second FG 17-16

It was a tale of two half in Minneapolis as the Jacksonville Jaguars controlled the action for the majority of the first half, only to see the the Vikings seize control in the second half. Luckily for the Jaguars, a late defensive stop and a last minute FG drive allowed them to come away with victory.

The Jaguars opened the game by driving the length of the field, mostly via the pass, with WR Laurent Robinson catching the first of his two TD receptions. After a defensive stop, the Jaguars would again move the ball on Minnesota and again find the end zone to go up 14-0. The visitors seemed in control, but late in the second quarter a steady diet of Adrian Peterson carried the Vikings down the field, ending in Peterson's 22 yard TD run to bring the score to 14-7.

The steady dose of Peterson carried into the second half as the Viking offensive line began to open up holes against a tired Jacksonville front. However, the Vikings would be unable to reach the Jaguars end zone and would settle for three FGs from K Blair Walsh. On the other hand, the Jaguars offense began to sputter as Maurice Jones-Drew was unable to find running lanes, leading to longer third down conversion attempts that forced the Jaguars to throw out of their comfort zone. More importantly, the Jaguars turned the ball over twice while in scoring territory, allowing the Vikings to remain in the game.

The critical series of the game occurred late in the fourth quarter with the Vikings trailing 14-13, but with possession of the ball. Minnesota continued to feed Peterson and drove into Jaguar 35 yard line prior to the two minute warning. Nevertheless, as had been the case throughout the game, Jacksonville turned forced Minnesota to settle for a field goal, setting up Jacksonville's game-winning drive. Had Minnesota been able to pick up another first down, they would have likely been able to set up a game winning kick.

JSimms, Good game. It was two completely different halves really. Peterson's TD run late in the 2nd gave you momentum going into the second half. I could never really run the ball effectively against your defense. It's too bad for the server issues/disconnects at the beginning.
