Jacksonville, FL - Receiver and special teams player Anthony Armstrong was released by the Jacksonville Jaguars on Tuesday almost as quickly as he was signed in week 1. It did not come as a surprise following a dismal special teams performance against the Kansas City Chiefs in the Jaguars home opener. It was Armstrong's costly fumble to open the third quarter that put the Jaguars into a hole that they were unable to recover from. "We've decided to go in another direction," Coach Bradley stated following the team announcement. Perhaps (Armstrong) is the scape goat and perhaps not. Armstrong leaves the team with 6 returns, an average of 27 yards per return, and one fumble lost. Rookie running back Denard Robinson has been named as the Jaguars sole return specialist.
