    Jams Game of the Week

    Week 2
    #1 Oklahoma (Bkhogfan51) at #6 Virginia Tech (Jvigorous1)

    [IMG] @ [IMG]

Blacksburg, Virginia- This week's premiere matchup showcases two powers from the Big XII and the ACC. #1 Oklahoma travels to Blacksburg to take on a talented #6 Virginia Tech team. A week after a thrashing of BYU, Oklahoma hopped over Florida to take the #1 spot in the polls. Meanwhile, Virginia Tech looks to continue their winning ways after an impressive blow out of Alabama, 45-17.

Matchup: Oklahoma offense against Virginia Tech defense.

The question for Virginia Tech is whether they can contain the numerous offensive weapons that Oklahoma utilizes. Oklahoma was able to say All-Americans Jermaine Gresham and reigning Heisman trophy winner Sam Bradford from entering the NFL draft, and they are better than ever. Sophomore WR Ryan Broyles will also have a definite impact in the passing game for Oklahoma. Virginia Tech Cornerbacks Stephan Virgil and Rashad Carmichael will do their best to stifle the Oklahoma passing game, but Gresham will certainly create mismatches. Virginia Tech's linebackers are just not athletic enough to keep up with Jermain Gresham in man-to-man coverage, so look for Gresham to have a huge game through the air.

    Advantage; Oklahoma

Matchup: Virginia Tech offense against Oklahoma defense.

Once again, it just doesn't seem that Virginia Tech has the playmakers to compete with an extremely talented defense for Oklahoma. Virginia Tech will most likely run plays to the outside, in order to stay away from All-American DT Gerald McCoy. However, Junior QB Tyrod Taylor has breakaway speed, so option plays and QB scrambles are something to look out for in this matchup. If Taylor can manufacture key third downs with his legs, it could be a long day for Oklahoma's defense.

    Advantage; Even

    Predictions!

Oklahoma's offense will prove to be too much, and Oklahoma wins.

    Oklahoma- 35
    Virginia Tech- 24

Nice work Jam. Although OU matches up better on paper, Blacksburg is one of the toughest places to play in America. Va Tech in a squeaker - 24-21.

This was a very sloppy game to start. Just complete defensive dominance for both teams in the 1st qtr.

    1st Qtr
VT is able to muster up a decent drive capped off by a FG. The VT was able to get a INT with 1:33 left in the quarter but unable to capitalize and forced to punt. 3-0 VT

    2nd Qtr

Finally VT is able to get a drive going after going for it on 4th and inches on OU 24 yard line. VT was able to get a TD with on 3rd and goal from 4 yards out with their FB K.Jefferson.
VT gets another FG. Then T.Taylor throws an interception off of a 100% setup playaction pass. OU comes back with an amazing passing drive with only 17 secs to end the half and scores from a 2 yard run.
    13-7 Tech

    3rd Qtr
The opening play Soph RB J.Oglesby runs for a long 33 yard gain for the 1st down. Then off the setup play action pass Jr QB T.Taylor finds Soph. WR D.Coale on a deep post for an 18 yard TD pass. Hokies are able to stop OU offense for a punt for a touchback. Then Soph RB J.Oglesby runs right up the gut for an amazing 80 yard TD run.

OU answers with an amazing 54 yard TD pass to his TE. He broke 3 tackles (this guy was a beast).

VT gets another FG. Then VT is able to pressure S.Bradford into making another bad pass for the interception which was returned to the house from 37 yards out by SR SS D.Porch.

Immediatly OU answers back with a 103 yard kickoff return.
    37-20 Tech

    4th Qtr
Tech's QB T.Taylor rolls out of the pocket and notices that OU FS was spying on the QB and the CB is by himself to cover two of Techs WR. One receiver was running a deep post and the other a fly route. The CB bit on the deep post and left Soph WR J.Boykin on the fly and easily completes the open pass for 44 yards for the TD. OU answers immediatly with a very efficient drive that only took 1 min to score a 15 yard TD pass. VT is able to respond with another long "up the gut run" with RB R.Williams for 22 yards setting up a 3rd and 3. Noticing that OU is blitzing and it only being 4:15 (left on the clock) in the qtr Tech throws a quick 2 yard slant. ALL the LBs of OU blitzed leaving the middle wide open for the easy YAC of 8 yards for the TD by WR D.Coale. OU is able to muster 2 more TDs from effective passing plays by Bradford and Tech adds a FG. Ending a thrilling game.

    Final: 54-40 Tech

    1st Downs 20 OU 8 VT
    3rd Down Conv. 4-8 OU 1-8VT
Red Zone 4-4 OU 5-3-1FG VT
Turnovers 4 INT and 1 Fumble OU 1 INT VT

    OU: QB S.Bradford threw 46- completed 29 for 445 yards 4 td 4 int
    VT: QB T.Taylor threw 16- completed 9 for 206 yards 3 TD 1 int

VT-235 rushing yards -to- OU-43 rushing yards

The game was ultimately decided by turnovers and big plays mainly in the 2nd half for the Hokies.

thanks Jam. You were right about his defensive lineman and Tight end. At times they were absolutely unstoppable. But fortunatly I was able to cause enough pressure for the 5 turnovers.

Yeah, I definitely didn't think about turnovers. Gresham tore you up! Fortunately it wasn't enough to beat you, you should be a force in the ACC.
