"It's unbelievable to think that kind of corruption came right from the top
of the power structure. The NCAA did what it had to do" in canceling
    SMU's 1988 football season."

Joe Paterno loved to talk down on other people. When asked if he was going to continue coaching he said he "didn't want to leave college football to the Barry Switzers and Jackie Sherills of the world."

As an SMU fan, I don't doubt at all that we deserved punishment, but the Death Penalty was way too much. Ruined athletics at that school for more than just a year or two. Paterno can s....oh wait. Nvm.

I always loved Joe Pa as a coach, but with all this stuff coming out that happened, and that he helped hide it really bugs me. I LOVED Penn State for years because of Joe Pa, and as I still love Penn State, I have lost much respect to the staff, both current and former. I never knew about how he talked down on others, until recently.

Interesting quote. If I remember correctly from the 30-for-30 on SMU, one of the things that got them caught was a player who was set to go to Penn State and all of a sudden changed his decision on a dime and went to SMU (ultimately because of boosters giving him cash or perks or something).

Yeah that's the reason Joe said that about SMU, they stole recruits from PSU by buying them
