Kansas St. wins 3OT Thriller against Colorado 44-38

This game was like a roller coaster. I've never been so caught up in a game like I was during this one. My hat goes off to osudds. With that said here we go...

The game started off horribly for KSU. The Wildcats came out with a little no huddle offense that coach Smalls had installed early in the fall. The Kansas St. offense drove the ball very well down the field getting into the redzone. Colorado's Patrick Mahnike picked off bad choice Klein made and took it 87 yards the other way for a TD. That would be all the scoring for the first quarter. Klein would throw another INT in the first. The Kansas St. defense was able to cause an INT in the 2nd quarter and was able to capatilize. Klein got knocked out action temporarily with a shoulder bruise. Back-up QB Ryan Manes came in and on his first pass connected with Bobby Hauver on a wheel route for a 58 yard strike tying the game at 7. Colorado answered right back marching down the field and scoring a TD on a slant route with 1:50 left. KSU was able to quickly get down the 7 yard line but with time running out decided to take 3 points and go into the half down 14-10.

The second half started with Colorado getting the ball. KSU forced an INT and HB Darious Thomas was able to punch it in from a yard out. KSU up 17-14. That was the last time the Wildcats would score until the 4th. On the next Buffalo possession, HB Rodney Stewart broke free and scored on a 65 yard TD run. CU 21-17. The Buffs forced another pick and a few plays later scored on another TD pass. CU up 28-17 going into the 4th.

4th Quarter begins with KSU getting 3 points on a 28 yard FG. A decision that turned out to work, leaving KSU down 8. The teams went back and forth exchanging INTs. KSU was able to drive down in the hurry up offense and score from a yard out on a run by FB Braden Wilson. The two pt was needed to tie the game and give a shot to send it to overtime. Klein dropped back to pass and didn't see anyone open so he had no choice but to force a throw that somehow made it to his TE. Game tied 28-28. Buffs get the ball and begin to drive. KSU gets their 3rd INT of the game with some time left. The Wildcats drove down close to FG range but a sack forced them to call their last time out. They completed a pass inside the kickers range but couldn't stop the clock. Overtime

OT 1. KSU gets the ball and has to settle for a 39 yard FG.
Colorado drives but is held to a 24 yard FG.

OT 2. Colorado pounds it out and scores on a 8 yard run by Rodney Stewart.
KSU answers back with a 16 yard touchdown run by Darious Thomas.

OT 3. KSU is able to score on another Thomas run, this time 9 yards out. 2pt no good.
Colorado comes out and KSU defensive back Jason Hartenbower comes away with the game winning pick.

    Game winning INT
