    FCS SE @Kansas State

This week was the season debut for Coach dt31407 after taking over for the resigned Bill Snyder. The Wildcats started out hot against the hapless Cobras of FCS SE. They accumulated 47 points by halftime with a dominant rushing attack with the likes of RB Daniel Thomas and RB/WR Brandon Banks. In the second half the first team offense and defense sat out and enjoyed the win. When asked about the debut after the game, Coach dt31407 said, "It doesn't get any better than this. Anytime you can put up 61 points and allow zero points on defense, you're having a good day." Hopefully K-State can continue the momentum in a tough matchup with undefeated Iowa State to kickoff conference play.

Cyclones Start Fast in 1st Quarter, but Fade Out

Iowa State came out on fire in this game, putting up 21 points in the first quarter. Credit the Wildcat defense for not faltering and putting up a wall for the rest of the game. Kansas State wasn't quiet on offense in this game, gaining 508 yards to start out conference play. The star of the game was Senior QB Grant Gregory. He had a career day completing 18 of 25 for 295 yards with 3 touchdown passes. When asked about his success at the postgame interview, he had this to say, "The game just really slowed down for me today. I credit the running game for opening up the passing game early on and I just happened to find a lot of guys wide open." One of those "guys" was Senior WR Brandon Banks. He had 6 receptions for 117 yards and saw the endzone twice with his gamebreaking speed. He averaged 10.7 yards after the catch this game. On a quieter note, the defense put up an efficient day only allowing 283 total yards. It was nothing flashy, they just played fundamentally sound defense after the 1st quarter. Senior MLB Ulla Pomele racked up 14 tackles and Senior DT Daniel Calvin tallied his first 3 sacks of the season in this game. Up next, the Wildcats take on the Red Raiders of Texas Tech in what should be an interesting matchup next week in Lubbock, TX.

Ball Control Factor: Kansas State Suffocates Texas Tech

Kansas State made quite a showing this week in Lubbock. They played old fashioned ball control football against a very talented Red Raider football team. Tech, known for their explosive offense, was held to a measly 208 yards of total offense on 46 plays. Meanwhile, Kansas State racked up 386 yards on 71 plays, 39 of those were running plays. Daniel Howard had a good day racking up 119 yards on 22 carries and scoring the lone rushing touchdown with a 20 yard scamper in the 3rd quarter. The Wildcats flourished today on defense, picking Taylor Potts off once and holding him to 175 yards of passing. The defense only allowed Tech into the redzone once where they ended missed a field goal. Overall, Kansas State had a solid road win in dominating fashion. Up next for the Wildcats will be the Texas A&M Aggies at home in Manhattan.
