BREAKING NEWS!!!!!!! The LA Dodgers did something this week that they have not done in two seasons. They signed their Draft Picks!!!!!!! You read that right, The Dodgers signed their picks. Does this mean the Dodgers see that distant light at the end of the tunnel? Maybe but the organization is still far from it. Lets introduce the new members: Round 1: 1B Guibert CavallaroThe Dodgers did not have much money to spend so they needed each pick to be 'bang for their buck' and they got it with Cavallaro. A lot people questioned the move but it also makes sense from a depth point of view. Their is really no one coming up the ranks to give current 1B Matt Bass help and Cavallaro will be that guy. Coach Saw loved his ability to hit in college and he thinks it will translate well in the pros. Even though he is not a defensive mastermind he will contribute to the lineup in a few years. Round 1: SP Miguel BelloAnother head turner the organization went with Miguel 'Racetrack' Bello with their 2nd pick in the 1st Round. The reason being is that Bello is slated to start out as a SP but will eventually become a MR guy. This may be true but with the pitches he has now he should be serviceable on either route. Round 1: CF Jose HernandezFinally LA landed a guy the experts loved. Hernandez can play LF, CF, RF and he can pitch! Talking with Coach Saw he is looking to push him over to RF. Everyone in LA is hyped and cannot wait to Jose Ramano and Jose Hernandez in the OF together. Round 2: MR Many FloresWith their run of the mill, johnny full staff bullpen Flores was the right pick here. His movement is what caught the eyes of the Dodgers. With his fastball and curveball being the only two pitches he throws he will need a lot of movement to keep batter off balanced. Throwing in the mid 90s with this kind of potential could turn into a deadly Setup or Closer. Round 3: 3B Hyun-Il HanHe was the BPA. Could be a potential power with a high gap and home run power, but he could also just turn into a platoon guy.
