Trailing 21-20 late in the 4th quarter, Denver found themselves deep in Oakland territory and were looking good for at least a game winning FG until Knowshon Moreno took a big hit from two Raider defenders and coughed up the rock. Oakland fell on the ball and after a first down conversion the Raiders were able to run out the clock for the victory. Denver was able to move the ball up and down the field all day only being forced to punt one time and that was on the first drive of the game. After a Matt Prater FG to start the scoring early in the second quarter, Denver added a 37 yard TD catch by Wes Welker who breezed past Oakland FS Jairus Byrd who seemed to trip trying to make the tackle and the Broncos led 10-0. Oakland was able to finally get the ball moving and answered the Welker TD with a Jacoby Ford 19 yard TD reception cutting the lead to 10-7. Just before the half the Broncos struck again. With 1st and goal at the one Oakland coach and GM CSteud, who recently heard of a new run stopping tactic, tried the run commit and the Broncos burned him on a pass into the flats for a TD to TE Dreessen. Denver lead 17-7 at halftime. Needless to say, the run commit has been thrown out of our strategy!! Oakland came into the second half in a bit of a bind. They weren't able to get the Broncos off the field and were trailing by 10 points. Oakland took the ball to start the third quarter and put together a nice drive eventully finding themselves at the Broncos 7 yard line. FB Marcel Reece took the handoff to the weak side and beat the blitzing LBs to the edge, broke a tackle then found paydirt and the Bronco lead was cut to 3, 17-14. Denver added another Matt Prater FG putting them up 6, 21-20 after three quarters of play. Oakland wouldn't go away and put together another long drive chewing up clock keeping the Denver offense on the sidelines. Darren McFadden capped of the drive with a 31 yard TD scamper with 3:30 left to play giving the Raiders their first lead of the game 21-20. Of course the Broncos offense wasn't fazed by the one point deficit and once again moved rather easily downfield, but inside the Raiders redzone Knowshon Moreno was handed the ball but was rocked by the Oakland defense, the hit jarred the ball loose and Oakland DT Alan Branch recovered the fumble. After the offense converted for a first down, the Raiders were able to run the clock out to secure victory. Great Game Tyler, I lucked out in this one!
