    Dynasty Description


    The OFFL began as a single dynasty shortly after the release of NCAA 2009. Founded on the principles of simulation style play, a group of members from the now defunct Over 30 Club were introduced midway through 2008. Shortly before the release of NCAA 2010, the Gray Hair Online Dynasty joined with the OFFL to give us what we presently have: a one team - one coach methodology that represents every conference in division one college football. The OFFL East, West, Mid-Majors, and Small Schools dynasties are the result of this reorganization. We also formed the OFFL Team Builder Dynasty in order to allow our members to branch out into another kind of football experience. Speaking of Experience, the OFFL Experience league was formed by the original members of the first OFFL dynasty, and it populated by a number of highly active members, many of whom serve the league in other capacities, either as site developers or content creators, or as commissioners. This collection of six dynasties is the OFFL. Welcome.

    At the core of the rule list are the never changing philosophical beliefs of the OFFL and Tradition Football Community. We expect all users to play a simulation style of video game football. Good sportsmanship, honesty, and respect for your fellow users is expected from everyone at all times. We are all here to have fun and play a video game. Respect your opponent and have fun with it. Violations of any rules or any poor conduct are grounds for removal from this dynasty. The E-League is intended to be special, in that it will be comprised only of proven, long-term members and a heightened level of participation is required.

    Team Selections: Based on the founding principals of the E-League and our goal of having an immersive league experience, and with history and interaction between teams (both on-field and recruiting) as one of the core components of this experience, switching teams is strongly discouraged. We encourage new members to select a team they want to manage for the remaining duration of the NCAA 2010 release. For this reason, we do not require that new members join certain conferences to maintain balance. Should a member have desire and a strong argument for changing teams, these moves will require approval of the commissioner. The commissioner will weigh the request based on the long-term good and continuity of the league, as well as the member's resume (don't expect to have a bad year / run a team into the ground and start fresh with a top 10 team). If a team change request is granted, under no circumstances will a second team change be allowed.

    OFFL E-League Dynasty Rules: NCAA 10


    Autopilot Rules: Users must play their games and must recruit their players, not the CPU. Autopilot is not an alternative to showing up. However, we do realize that members will travel from time to time.

    Vacation/Absence: If you are going to be gone for more than a few days, let your commissioner know so he can put you on autopilot and simulate your activities as to not hold the rest of the dynasty up.

    Advances: Advance times will be posted by the commissioner in the forums. We will typically allow 72 hours between advances, unless all games and recruiting are finished sooner. Because this league is intended for "mature" members, and we realize that most of us have more important obligations to pop up from time to time, no one member shall call out another member because they have not yet completed their week. While it is nice to have a fast pace, it is inexcusable to pressure or flame someone for having real-world obligations.

    Online Status: Some people keep their XBL status hidden so that they always appear offline. However for several reasons, we require that you set your status to "Online" so that you are visible while you play your games in this dynasty.

    User Games: Make the effort on the boards to contact your opponent to schedule and play the game as soon as possible. If a reasonable effort to contact your opponent is not made before the day of advance, the game will be simulated or the user who did make an effort will be allowed to play the CPU.

    Game Play Settings:
    Level: All-American w/ adjusted sliders
    Length: 7 Min.
    Sliders: Altered (see league settings)
    Penalties: Altered (see league settings)

    Gameplanning features are to NOT be used in user or CPU games. Settings should be left on normal/all green for the entire game. This includes everything from strip ball to the adjusting of your zones. Being the mature group that we are, this really shouldn't be an issue. Run/Pass Commit is also banned, which includes spotlighting an opposing wide receiver. This is unfortunate, but is the case because there is no way for your opponent to tell whether you spotlighted a guy or pass committed.

    How to deal with a Gameplanning Issue:
    Pause the game and remind your opponent that the features are to be left on all normal for the entire game, in a civil manner. If it happens again, write down when, and PM the commissioners AND your opponent. Issues with these features will not be a finger-pointing grudge match, but rather a discussion.

    Substitutions: The OFFL expects users to keep their rosters together as they would be in real life. Keep players in their positions. The OFFL is open to individualized situations. If you have a question, post or contact your commissioner.

    Position Changes (Offseason): Changes in position will only be allowed in the offseason. If a special situation comes up, contact your commissioner and let them know. All position changes must be posted in the forums. Most importantly, size and speed must match up when moving a player to a new position.

    Package substitutions: Are allowed but are not to be abused.

    ---Rotating QB’s: If you have a good passing QB and a good running QB and would like to use both, ensure you only switch them out when you change possessions. Alternating quarterbacks between plays is not allowed.

    Game Play (General): Wide Receivers and Tight Ends should be the main target for the passing game, Running Backs should not. Users should mix up playcalling. Offensive audibles may be used as long as no more than one player moves laterally. As a league we have decided not to use Run/Pass commit on defense.

    No Huddle: To be used appropriately based on time left / deficit, or an end of the first half situation. Not to be used as an offensive "wrinkle". It is never allowed after an incompletion.

    4th Downs: Going for it on 4th can be used in appropriate/realistic situations. We tend to err on the conservative side with this, however.

    Goal Line Formation: Keep it to real life situations. Short yardage (2 yards or less), red zone, deep in your own territory (Inside the 10 yard line), etc.

    Disconnects: Download NCAA 10 to your 360. Although the issue has been patched, avoid using practice mode before your game. If you do happen to get a freeze or disconnect, immediately contact your user opponent via a message on XBL or headsets. It will be between the users to replay the game. Any special circumstances need to be brought to the attention of the commissioner. Post on the message boards as well, for clarification.

    Complaints about opponent's play: No Public Battles in the forums! Contact the commissioner of your dynasty through private messages if any situations arise. Save game footage if necessary to show how your opponent was playing.

    Notes on CPU games: Treat your CPU opponents with the same respect that you treat your user opponents. Blowouts happen, but there is a scoring cap of 65 points with one caveat: you may always win by 21 points. If you go over the scoring cap, the game result will be thrown out and the game will be simmed. There is no exception to this rule. If you are kicking the crap out of the CPU, rest your star players and chew the clock. You will avoid injuries and even build up your sportsmanship rating (if you care). By playing younger players, you have the chance for them to gain in-season progression, and the chance that they progress well is also increased.

    Recruiting:
    Penalty for violating any of the recruiting rules is 10 hours lost recruiting time per "count" (i.e. going over a limit by 2 players or using 2 promises would result in 20 hours of lost recruiting time). Penalties may (and most often will) be held over until the start of the following season at the commissioner's discretion.

    -No over-signing. You may not go over 70 players at any time.
    -No Cuts (we will sim through this step)
    -No talking players out of leaving early (we will sim through this step)
    -No promises may be made to recruits in offseason recruiting

    "1-7-70"

    Each year every team gets an allowance of:
    1 - 5 star player
    7 - 4 star players (an 8th 4 star may be substituted in exchange of your 1 5 star)
    Any additional recruits must be three star or lower, unless:

    Some recruits are open to all (Bonus Recruits), and do not count against your limits. These recruits are:

    *Numbers 1, 2, and 3 - "The Celebrity Recruits"
    *Five and four star recruits with rankings of 10, 20, 30, 40, 50 and so on. Basically, every tenth recruit of the five and four star caliber is fair game and won't count against your 1, but you'll have to compete for them.
    *Rankings will change when the off-season recruits are added, but the regular season Bonus Recruits will stay the same. Consult the list that is be posted in the "Bonus Recruits" thread. This is the official list / last word on who all the Bonus Recruits are.

    Example:

    If I have 15 seniors, and no one leaves early, I can recruit a total of fifteen guys (be aware that true seniors who do not play in the season will likely receive a redshirt, which will reduce your available scholarships). My potential class numbers look like this:

    1 five, 7 fours, 7 three & below

    Now, if I get the second ranked recruit (a bonus five star), and also the number 60 recruit (a bonus four star), my class can potentially be this:

    2 fives, 8 fours, 5 three & below

    Bonus recruits can not push you over 70 total players on your roster. You must remain under the cap at all times (70).

    In the offseason the game will add additional recruits to the board. They are all fair game, but you still must keep to the 1-7-70 limits. We will also designate 5 additional bonus recruits in the offseason. It will be #1, 30, 100, 200, and 250, or if the new recruits don't fall into those exact slots, the next highest ranked new recruit. The official list of who the new bonus recruits are will be posted to the boards, so wait until you see that before doing your week 1 offseason recruiting.

To this point we have had VERY few issues with this, so this is just to put it in writing.

    There was a brief, one sentence statement that these features were banned. Everyone gets a pass since they weren't easily visible, and I don't think anyone even was sure that they were banned.

    Updated sliders 2/10/10. Also made sure that they agreed with in-game sliders, which they do! :D
