LEAGUE FEE REQUIREMENTS (MADDEN 11): TF AND PMFL MEMBERSHIP FEES

OK, Gentlemen, and I use that term loosely... ;)

Here is the dreaded tally of who has paid and who has not so far. Each of you MUST have your TF membership AND your PMFL membership paid in full BEFORE we proceed with the lottery for the team draft. With the payment of your league membership fee, you will be given a PMFL badge to place in your signature which corresponds with the contribution you made. Payment info for where to go to pay is quoted below.

This year there will be three levels of contribution available for the PMFL membership fee... Bronze = $15, Silver = $20, and Gold = $25. For each level above the Bronze membership there is an added incentive. If you pay a Silver membership fee, you will be able to make ONE more trade PER season. If you pay a Gold membership fee, you will be able to make ONE more trade PER season AND you will be able to view the blind bids for ONE free agent of your choosing PER season.

Now, if you are interested in the Silver or Gold membership fee, you MUST pay the fee PRIOR to the beginning of the M11 era. We will not allow owners to pay additional money to add to their membership later in the season because they want to make an extra trade or see the bids for a free agent they are interested in signing. Also, there will be no refunds for owners who purchased the incentive laced membership fee, but did not use the extra trade and/or free agent peek.

Some of you may be asking, "What are the league costs, and why do I need to pay a fee?" Very legitimate question. The LeagueDaddy annual membership is $100. I had also paid $26 for the last two months of LD membership for page development. We will also be generating League T-shirts this season as awards which will be limited to the kind of funds we receive. We also enforce the league fee as an incentive for individuals to complete each season they participate in.

So with that said, I have generated a chart below showing who has paid, and who has not. If you have paid and it is not on the chart, reply and let us know. If you have a question, concern, or constructive criticism, provide that as well. Just know that we appreciate having EACH of you involved. Others try to imitate, but just can't emulate... Thank YOU for making PMFL one of the best leagues around!

    Kind regards,

    Doug O

Very good question, Curtis. Staff members automatically have the Bronze membership fee waived, but they would need to pay the Silver or Gold membership fee to take advantage of the incentives. I apologize for not clarifying that in the original post.

I do have some issues with the different tiers. Granted it's only $10 difference between the bronze and gold package, bit I think that it gives an unfair disadvantage to those that don't choose the gold package. Are we really in it to make money? I can understand the $15 fee for all the time that everyone (Doug and Eddie) put in to make this league what it is. But to couple that $25 with the $12 from the TF membership and its getting pretty steep. Everyone complains when EA puts out DLC and charges you for extra shit that should be in the game already and quite frankly I feel that that is what this is coming too. If I can't afford the Gold package why should I be penalized? It should be a flat fee and everyone is on the same playing field.

Just my $0.02 (or $10 however you want to see it) for what its worth. I believe this falls under constructive criticism.

Troy, by no means is this an attempt for Eddie or me to make money. The league fees will fund any current overhead expenses as well as it will allow for us to actually generate some incentive, and finally, some well deserved trophies for different categories so that we can actually recognize everyone in the league for their accomplishments.

Shoot, even if we did make money it would only be a couple hundred bucks between Eddie and Me TOPS. Once you've accounted for staff credits and those individuals who cannot afford the league fee - which I wind up paying for them if they leave (I only provide this option to TRUSTED individuals who agree to help out the league in other facets) - we don't generate nearly as much money as you would think. If we were in this for a business to generate money, which we are not, but if we were it is certainly not worth the headache if you ask me... ;)

We have always had an open door policy for individuals with financial hardship and/or the inability to pay one lump sum up front. We all know money can be tight, so if that is the case for anyone, you can always contact Eddie or me privately and we can discuss what options are available as we have done this in the past. We certainly don't want anyone to feel disadvantaged because they are unable to come up with the funds to support the level of involvement they want to attain with the league.

We will provide a financial summary of our net worth once all of the league fees are received. It will give everyone a picture as to the checks and balances for the league. If it turns out that we have been grossly over-funded, we will return the funds to those individuals who have overpaid any membership fees. I reiterate, by no means is this an attempt for Eddie or me to make money on the league, nor do we want anyone to feel inadequate for contributing a Bronze or even a Silver level membership fee. If you do, please contact us so that we can discuss it.

I hope this helps clarify things, Troy. If not, let us know. Please contact me directly if you would like to bring any personal issues to the discussion that you prefer not to voice in the public forum and we can continue our discussion further in private.

Additional clarification on this... Staff members would only need to pay the DIFFERENCE owed for the Silver and Gold membership fees. So for staff members only, the tiers would be Bronze = FREE, Silver = $5, Gold = $10. Once again, I apologize for the oversight.

I know you guys aren't in it to make money. I guess I don't know why I threw that part in there but what my may concern was the level playing field. I don't feel that I should have to wonder if my FA that I want will get away with from me because someone has an opportunity to see what I bid on him for. I'm fine with the trades because I have some control over trades. What I don't have control over is the fact that I can bid on someone knowing that no matter what I bid someone can see my offer and up it a bit. That takes the entire FA process out of play for the Bronze and Silver player. Let's say I bid on 4 different players and 4 different Gold Members want said 4 players. Well, I'm pretty much shit out of luck because they spent more money at the onset of the league.

All I really wanted to get out of my post is the level playing field aspect. I think it should be a flat fee with no bell's and whistle's attached for those that want to pony up more jack.

I talked to Eddie about this at length and we completely understand your concern. Your example is a worst case scenario. Certainly anything is possible, but the odds of losing out on most or all of your free agents to Gold members is highly unlikely. Yes, Gold members will have better odds by using their free agent option, but by no means does it gaurantee that all Gold members will sign free agents away from other teams.

Here's why... When blind bid free agency is declared open, all Gold members will be required to confidentially provide the staff with the player's name and position of whom they wish to have full bidding access to BEFORE any contracts are announced.

    1) Some Gold members may elect not to use their free agent option.
    2) Other Gold members may choose access to the same free agent.
    3) Some Gold members may even decide not to make an offer for the free agent they have access to because the highest contract offered is too much for them to consider either due to personal values or due to lack of cap space.

Yes, we all may potentially lose signing a free agent to a team that is owned by a Gold member. However, we do not view it as an unfair advantage. The odds of a team losing out on multiple free agents due to Gold members using their free agent option are minimal. Therefore, it was our decision to reward the Gold members for their financial contribution in a way that provides them with better odds, but no gaurantees. If at any point it is determined that the free agent reward option for Gold members gives them too much of an unfair advantage over the Bronze and Silver members, we will revisit and come up with a different option.

Received your gold fees and accounted for on table. thx!

You should also post in the subscription confirmation thread that you paid your TF fees just to confirm with the TF staff. I assume you paid the annual subscription of $12, correct?
