The Dugout is an Out of the Park Baseball 15 league for PC. OOTP is the ultimate baseball simulation. Take control as the General Manager of one of 30 Major League Baseball Teams. You control all transactions of the Major League club as well as the complete minor league system. Set your lineups and rotations, develop your organization through smart drafting and trades, control your finances, you name it. The team is yours to do with as you choose.

From the OOTP Team "Out of the Park Baseball ("OOTP") is the most sophisticated and best-selling baseball simulation game on the planet. Since its inception, OOTP has won numerous awards, including multiple "Sports Game of the Year" awards, en route to becoming the most immersive, realistic, and customizable baseball experience a fan can ask for!"

OOTP is a simulation first and foremost. The league is simulated X amount of days on a set schedule, and setting smart lineups and depth charts is the key to winning games. There are no head to head games. You export your changes, and then look for the results of the sim.

    League Rules

    Sim Schedule:
    • The league is currently on a 24 hour sim schedule.
    • You must have your export in by 8PM EST the day of the sim.
    • If you’re going to miss a sim, please post in the "vacation" sticky.
    5 Strikes Rule:
    • Owners will be removed from the league or demoted if they receive 5 "strikes" in a single season (offseason included).
    • Missing a strike without posting in the Vacation thread or informing one of the commissioners will result in a strike (strikes are not given for missed exports in the offseason).
    • Failing to submit an All-Star ballot will result in a strike (this activity is not excusable).
    • During the draft, failing to pick in the allotted time will result in a strike for each instance (1st and 2nd round pick(s) only).
    • Failing to sign your 1st and / or 2nd round draft pick(s) will result in a strike for each instance.
    5 Year Rule: (RULE SUSPENDED)
    • Teams are graded over a 5 "year" period.
    • Each .500+ finish to a season resets the start of your "5 years".
    • If an owner does not have a .500+ finish over the course of 5 years, he will be removed from the league.
      • Exception to the above rule will be granted if an owner shows improvement over the final 3 years of his 5 year period.
      • IE: An owner with season records of 76-86, 77-85, 64-98, 66-96, 74-88 would be granted an extension of 1 year to his five year period.
      • That owner must either finish above .500 in that extra year or finish with a record higher than the previous year.
    • If a team comes open either during the season or at seasons end, ML owners will be given priority to switch to said team before a NBL owner is promoted.
    • As a current ML owner, you may NOT switch to other open ML teams if you finished two or more consecutive years below .500.
    • Trades are to be posted in the “Transactions” sub forum.
    • When posting a trade you must include the following, failing to due so may cause your trade to not be processed:
      • You must tag all parties involved in the trade as well as all commissioners.
      • Along with the player name and position, you must include at least what minor league team he is on and what minor league level it is.
    • Trades will processed in the order that they are submitted / approved.
    • A trade cannot put you over budget, if it does the trade will not be processed.
    • Any GM in their first year at the ML level (not including time spent in NBL) is subject to trade approval by the commissioner team.
    • Trading deadline is 7/31 of each season.
    • Post deadline waiver trades are not allowed.
    • Trading with the CPU is not allowed.
    • A drafted player must remain in your organization until the offseason before he is eligible to be traded.
    • Player to be named later (PTBNL) trades are not allowed.
    • New players to the league are barred from trading for one season.
    • Any trade involving a second year GM must first be PMed to the commissioner team for approval before it posted in the “transactions” thread.
    Salary Retention Trades:
    • When trading a player, you now have the option to pay portions of the remaining salary of the players contract, with the following restrictions:
      • If a player has a team option in the final year, you may not keep any portion of that salary.
      • You cannot pay more than $24M in "dead" money a year.
    • This only affects future years. You cannot retain any money from the current year of the contract.
    • When making a trade involving this type of deal, please be sure to include how much salary the original team is retaining each year remaining on the players contract.
    • If a player was previously traded with a team retaining a portion of his salary, he may not be involved again in that type of trade until his current contract runs out.
    • You may not trade "dead" money.
    • Player and vesting options are NOT allowed.
    • Team Options:

        • The buyout must be atleast 40% of the final years salary.
    • Contract dumping is NOT allowed.
    • Players not in the final year of their contract may not be released if:
      • Releasing said player will put you over budget for the year.
      • If you are already over budget for the year.
    • All contracts that are 2 years or longer in length are subject to the following restrictions:
    • Every salaried year must be within 20% of the highest salaried year.
    • The dollar amount offered for a contract incentive or bonus may be no more than 50% of the highest valued year of the contract, not to exceed $2.5 million
    • For hitters: The Plate Appearance contract incentive may be set no higher than 625 PAs.
    • For pitchers: The Innings Pitched contract incentive may be set no higher than 215 IP.
    • Minimum pitcher stamina to be offered incentive or bonus: four.
    • Contract extensions may only be offered to a player if they have 5+ years of Major League service time.
    • If you are signing a player mid-season, you may not offer him playing time bonuses.
    • Extensions:
      • No contract extensions may be offered between Sim #2 off the offseason and Sim #3 of the regular season (essentially 12/1 to 4/30 in game).
      • For the time being, if an extension is accepted during that window, it will be voided and a strike will be given.
    • Failure to comply with contract rules will result in the following:
      • If the player was a FA prior to signing the contract, a strike will be issued and the contract will be voided.
      • If the contract was an extension, a strike will be issued and the contract will be corrected.
    International Free Agency:
    • International Free Agent spending is limited to how much money a team has in their “Projected Budget Room” field.
    • A team may NOT put themselves over budget with International Free Agency spending.
    • Overspending in International Free Agency will result in two strikes being given and all International Free Agents signed will be released.
    • If this issue continues to be pressed, we will start striking for every player signed.
    • If you end a season with a negative final balance and also over budget, you will receive a financial strike.
    • If you receive a financial strike twice in a three year span you will be demoted and / or removed from the league.
    • Ticket Prices may never exceed the following prices:
      • $70 during the regular season.
      • $100 during the playoffs.
      • Anyone who raises their prices above these points will get their ticket prices reduced to $0 for one sim and receive a strike.
