League Rules CPU Trades & Free Agents Each team will get to have access to the Free Agent pool, as well as the pool of players represented by CPU teams. Because of how wide open and abused this could get, we will need a structure since there is no budget (or price tag) involved. - Free Agents: After the completion of 9 games played, users may add up to 2 Free Agents. A pitcher must be dropped when adding a pitcher, and a position player must be dropped when adding a position player. The player you are dropping must be within 4 Overall Rating Points of the player you would like to pick up. All Free Agent requests must be posted here on the forums, and the Commissioner will make the transaction. First come, first serve. - CPU "Trades": Each team will be allowed to make one "trade" with the CPU. Again, it must be pitcher for pitcher or hitter for hitter, and the +/- 4 point range applies. These will again need to be posted here on the forum, and will require the Commissioner to make the move. CPU Trades begin after 15 games have been played by the user, and end after 42 games have been played. User-User Trades Any trades between users will be unrestricted, but will require Commissioner approval to prevent collusion. The trade deadline occurs when one of the two users has reached the 42 games played mark. There is also no restriction on trading a pitcher for a position player. Be smart in your trades, because after they are approved, there is no UNDO button! Throwing Behind the Runner Honestly, if you're dumb enough to throw behind every runner, you deserve the bases that will be taken on you. Throwing behind the runner is allowed to every base EXCEPT FIRST BASE. There is no attempting to gun people at first from Right Field. Bunting Bunting is flawed in this game. It is wayyyyyy to easy to get a perfect bunt down. For this reason, we'll have to limit bunt situations. You are allowed to use 2 bunts in a game. If you whiff on the bunt attempt, or it goes foul, that doesn't count. Any bunt put in play DOES count. Stealing / Hit & Run Small ball is a part of baseball. There is no set rule here, but just keep it realistic. Don't hit and run every play. Don't steal every play. Stealing WHILE Bunting This is not allowed as there are pre-loading the throw issues. For example, if you notice the steal and pre-load the throw to 2nd base, when whoever fields the bunt picks it up they will throw to 2nd rather than being able to adjust to first. If you are going to bunt, you are prohibited from stealing on the same play. Anyone that does this should allow their opponent to tag out the guy that went to 2nd base. Failure to do so will result in the result being thrown out and then simmed so that the person that did the illegal play loses. Pitching Rotation We will be using a 5-man rotation for our league. Each team will be required to stamp their rotation before the start of the season and use that exact rotation all year. In the event of a trade, the new starter will have to be placed where the one you traded was, and pitch out his remaining games. Information about the playoff rotation will be available when the time nears. Pitch Count & Ball/Strike Ratio Because stamina for pitchers is so messed up in this game, we'll have a pitch count instituted. The maximum number of pitches your starter can throw is 70. The ONLY exception to this is if your starter is working on a no-hitter/perfect game or a shutout. Otherwise, he must come out at/by the 70 pitch mark. The maximum number of innings a pitcher can pitch is 9.0. This being the sim league that it is, we should be able to throw balls out of the strike zone realistically. There is, however, a maximum of 17 balls TOTAL (all pitchers on your team) per game. Going over will result in me throwing the game out and awarding it to your opponent (a forfeit). Two-Ball Rule If you throw two balls in an at-bat, you will be required to walk your opponent. This is to encourage guys to try to take more pitches at the plate. Looking at the season one box scores and playing the games, this might make there be more risk/reward to taking pitches and also for the pitchers. With no walks currently (besides intentionally), there is no sim aspect to it. We won't see a spike in walks, and it is pretty fun. If you throw 2 balls to someone and don't walk them, they will get the win. No Pitch-Out Rule While pitch outs are a part of real baseball, they just are not feasible with our pitch speed where it is. The real life hitter can take the pitch easily. With our pitch speed, it is impossible to take it unless you know it is coming, which defeats the purpose. NO PITCHING OUT! Bullpen Use Please spread your appearances out among your relievers. It is realistic for your closer to pitch in every save situation. It is not realistic for your long reliever that can throw 100mph to pitch every game. Just spread them out through your pen. Please feel free to post any questions you have! I reserve the right to amend the rules at any time, and I anticipate they will evolve with everyone's input as the season progresses.
