    Legacy: Freshman Focus 5

As we grind through the 2014 season we take a look at the Legacy freshman who are making impacts in the NCAA:

    MLB Will Pierce :4stars:

Stats: 23 Tackles, 3 TFL, Sack, INT, 3 Defl
Synopsis: Pierce has worked his way into the starting role at Miami and is already they leader of the defense with 23 tackles. He is also making plays in pass coverage with an INT and some pass deflections. He looks to be a solid replacement for the Canes at MLB.

    QB Darryl Hicks :4stars:

    Stats: 173.7 Rating, 128/208, 2,072 YDS, 21 TDs, 5 INTs, 61%
Synopsis: Va Tech has another freshman QB putting up huge numbers. He is currently injured but when he was playing he was moving the ball and only threw 5 INTs, not bad for his number of attempts. Only time will tell if he is a true star QB or just another system Quarterback.

    SS Ronald Lopez *unknown*
Stats: 33 Tackles, TFL, INT, 3 Defl, Fumble Recovery
Synopsis: Ronald has stepped in as the starting SS at UCLA and has played great. He has 33 tackles and is also making plays in the passing game with 3 deflections and an INT. He is on a hot streak lately and also has a fumble recovery so he is finding ways to get the ball in his hands on defense which is always a good thing.

    CB Warren Nash :5stars:
Stats: 24 Tackles, 2 TFL, 3 Defl, FF

Synopsis: The 5 star athlete turned CB, Warren Nash, is having a great season at corner for FSU. He is a very psychical corner with great tackling stats including a forced fumble so he can lay the lumber. He is still looking for his first career INT but he has made a few plays defending the pass.

    HB Joey Taylor :5stars:
    Stats: 101 Atts, 499 YDS, 8 TDs, 4 Rec, 40 YDs

Synopsis: Joey Taylor has stepped in some big shoes for the Tide as starting HB this season. He has put up impressive numbers highlighted by 8 TDs. He has fumbled twice but is still pounding out yardage and even has made a few plays receiving. Hopefully he can limit his turnovers and keep racking up the points.

The FOTY race is pretty much wide open this season with no clear cut favorites

    FOTY Polls:
    1. QB Darryl Hicks
    2. SS Ronald Lopez
    3. MLB Will Pierce
    4. HB Joey Taylor

Lopez is making such a silent impact. I've barely noticed it, but I guess I am just used to an upperclassmen playing that spot and he is playing it like on.

You might keep an eye on freshman WR Tucker Gray. He will be targeted more since Matt Miles has gone down with an 8 week injury.

    Legacy: Freshman Focus 5

As we come to a close in the 2014 season we take a look at the Legacy freshman who are making impacts in the NCAA:

    MLB Will Pierce :4stars:

Stats: 56 Tackles, 13 TFL, 2 Sacks, INT, 6 Pass Defl
Synopsis: Pierce has continued to be a solid defender for the Canes. His tackle total is good enough for 2nd on the defense and he has 2 Sacks as well. He continues to make plays in the secondary was well with 6 pass deflections. Not a bad season for a freshman starting in the middle of the U defense.

    QB Darryl Hicks :4stars:

    Stats: 173.7 Rating, 169/267, 2,584 YDS, 29 TDs, 6 INTs
Synopsis: Hicks has not played much since the last time we checked in as he seems to be dealing with the injury bug alot. He should be returning soon but when he is on the field he seems to be efficient with the ball. He numbers are great for the time that he has played and had potential for a huge season in the pass heavy VA Tech offense.

    SS Ronald Lopez *unknown*
Stats: 50 Tackles, TFL, 2 INTs, 4 Defl
Synopsis: Ronald continues to be a strong tackler for the UCLA defense ranked 2nd on the team. He has been lacking in the passing game however and is pretty much a one sided run stopping safety, still a great season for a freshman however.

    HB Joey Taylor :5stars:
    Stats: 194 Atts, 1,072 YDS, 18 TDs, 8 Rec, 85 YDs

Synopsis: Joey Taylor has put together a huge season as the Crimson Tides RB, rushing for over 1000 yards already and has found the endzone an impressive 18 times. He is a power runner and has been hard to bring down all year. He is the favorite for FOTY with his strong stats and importance to his one loss team.

    WR Tucker Gray
    Stats: 41 Rec, 611 YDS, 12 TDs, 9 drops

Synopsis: Tucker has came in to the equation late with injuries on the Bama squad. He has been on fire the last few weeks finding the endzone an impressive 12 times. He is undersized but is still finding ways to get his hands on the ball and make plays. He does have trouble holding onto the ball however with an unacceptable 9 drops on the season.

    FOTY Polls:
    1. HB Joey Taylor
    2. QB Daryl Hicks
    3. MLB Will Pierce
    4. WR Tucker Gray
    5. SS Ronald Lopez
