Oregon continues to roll in the PAC 12. This game was mostly about defense. Oregon was only able to gain 234 yards of total offense while Stanford went for 160 yards. Darron Thomas and the Ducks passing game took a step back after improving over the previous few weeks. Thomas only completed 6 of 12 attempts for 78 yards. Andrew Luck didn't fair any better. He went 8 for 14 for 64 yards. Oregon was in his face most of the afternoon. They were able to sack Luck 6 times. With Luck struggling the Cardinal put the ball in the hands of Stephen Taylor. He was able to grind out 90 yards on 23 carries. LaMichael James was able to reach 100 yards again on the afternoon.

The Ducks will host Utah next weekend.

    Key Stats:

    LaMichael James - 19 carries 109 yards 1 TD
    Wade Keliilipi - 5 tackles 4 TFLs 3 sacks
    John Boyett - 13 tackles 1 Deflection

Evanston, IL -- The Irish didn't have to drive far to meet their foes tonight. Evanston, north of Chicago, is just 100 miles from South Bend. Notre Dame might have not had the chance to mentally be ready for this game as they looked unfocused in the first quarter. Northwestern was able to go up early with a quick run up the gut by Trumpy for a long touchdown. On the subsequent drive, Dayne Crist was sacked, fumbled, and Northwestern was able to take it in for another score to put themselves up 14-0 just a minute and half into the game.

I am not sure what Coach Kelly said to the players on the sidelines, but from that moment on the Irish buckled down and were able to put together some solid drives thanks to the legs of Ceirre Wood who rushed for 102 yards on 24 carries and had a touchdown.

The Irish's defense despite their early blunder were able to turn it around and ended up reeking havoc on the Wildcats with two safties, and two interception returns for touchdowns.

Next week the Irish are on a bye and then wrap up the regular season with a tough game against Florida.

Florida traveled to South Carolina and got our tail whooped. Jeff Brantley had a pair turnovers in the first quarter that put South Carolina up 14-0. It was over after that. The Gator offense never got anything going. The only points came with less than a minute to go. I want to rebound from this and win our upcoming game with Notre Dame and the bowl game. Jeff Driskel came into the game at some point, but the Gamecocks were just too much.

Ohio State got up big early and screwed around the rest of the game. The game wasn't as close as the score appears. QB Kenny Guiton went over 300 yards and the silver bullet defense intercepted 3 balls. KR Jamaal Berry returned a kickoff with no time remaining in the first half to give the Buckeyes a 42-14 lead.

Coach Peench Wins Opener as Rebels Roll 35-10

Oxford, MS-Coach Peench won his debut Saturday evening, with a stellar running game pacing the victory. RB Brandon Bolden ran for 178 yards on 22 carries and 2 scores, and QB Randall Mackey was effective running the read option, adding 57 yards on 3 attempts. Mackey also completed 8-15 for 3 scores. The junior QB looked awful erratic at times, but overall the offensive looked clean.

On the flip side, the defense was swarming all game long, forcing 3 interceptions and sacking the opposing QB 5 times. Sophomore safety Brishen Matthews led the charge, with 6 tackles and a leaping interception. Kentrell Lockett added two sacks. The unit did however, give up two big passing plays that led to Tech points. That is something Coach Peench will have to sure up shortly.

Next week the Rebels will host #2 LSU and Coach Wick, in what is sure to be an early test for Ole Miss. At this point Coach Peench is just trying to get a feel for his team and get some momentum moving into next season, but playing spoiler would be phenomenal.

Oregon State Wins Shoot Out With Stanford
    35 - 21

Luck was unstoppable in the first half. Shredding the secondary of Oregon State. At one time Stanford was up 21 - 10 with the Beavers reducing the lead of Stanford to 21 - 17 with 6 seconds left in the first half. After that, it was all Beavers.

McCants finished with 205 yds with no TD's and Katz finished the day with 3 TD's through the Air

    #7 Michigan 28
    Illinois 21

Michigan looked to rebound last week after last weeks terrible head coaching debacle. Michigan would host Illinois and almost lose again in a tight battle. Michigan would struggle to pull away despite putting up over 400 yards of offense. Denard threw for 248 yards and a TD and also rushed for 74 and a TD. HB Hopkins rushed for 86 and 2 TDs bringing his season total over 1,000 yards. Michigan was able to pull ahead late and hold off the Fighting Illini for the victory. Michigan now travels to Memorial Stadium for a huge matchup with new Big Ten member Nebraska. At this point we can only hope to win and hope Iowa will take an L to Purdue or Nebraska. BOILER UP!

    USC vs. Washington

USC takes down Washington 35-7 in a game that officially game USC the Pac-12 South Title.

(Note to everyone, FacePlant City and I played about one half before we were disconnected. He was leading 7-3 so we played the first half as our second half, and decided to combine the scores at the end of the half with the winner finishing it off against the CPU. For this recap, I am just going over the full game and not the first half of the unfinished game.)

Marc Tyler would continue to strengthen his Heisman Trophy chances as he opened up this game with two TD runs, the second being a dandy off a broken tackle for a 13 yard TD run to give the Trojans a 14-0 lead.

Washington would march down the field and score a quick TD making it 14-7 but on the ensuing drive, Marc Tyler would essentially put the game away with this 40 yard TD run.

Next week, USC faces off against Alabama in a game that could help boost USC into the top 2 and a chance at the National Championship.
