    Penn State 27
    Michigan State 10

The stats paint a different picture than the scoreboard. Michigan State had more total offense, first downs and third down conversions. They also held the ball longer and converted third downs at a higher rate than Penn State. So how did Penn State pull off this win? There were a few key plays in this game that helped PSU escape East Lansing with a win.

The first big play was in the third quarter. Michigan State had a long TD drive that cut the Nittany Lions' lead to 6 points. On the first offensive play from scrimmage Penn State caught the Spartans in a corner blitz and Newsome hit Drake on a streak. Drake made one guy miss and took it 80 yards for the TD. This put momentum back in Penn State favor but Michigan State was not done yet. They put together another long drive but Michigan State's QB made a bad pass and D Anton Lynn picked it off near the end zone.

The nail in the coffin came on a big hit fumble caused by pass rush specialist Olaniyan. DT Hill picked up the fumble and plodded into the end zone for the TD, giving Penn State a 3 score lead. Michigan State didn't have enough time to make up the difference and Penn State made sure the Spartans did not score.

This win likely hands the Big 10 top spot to Iowa. The Hawkeyes will clinch a Rose Bowl berth with a win over #18 Minnesota. In the unlikely event that Iowa loses the Rose Bowl spot will belong to Penn State. Either way Penn State still has an opponent to worry about. The Nittany Lions will travel to Alabama to take on the Auburn Tigers. Luckily for Penn State the Tigers will be without top tailback Michael Dyer, but Cameron Newton still poses a big time threat.

Offensive Player of the Game: Drake 2 receptions 104 yards 1 TD (80)

Defensive Player of the Game: Hill 4 tackles (3 solo, 1 atk) 1 tackle for loss 1 sack 1 fumble recovery 1 TD

Holy smokes, UCLA picked up Mike Patrick. He will be redshirting and up in the press box for his freshman year. Word is they are working on closing the deal on Blackledge, as well.

Florida came to play in this one and walked away with the upset. The Gator offense made outstanding play after outstanding play. I only put up Gator hightlights to show the kinds of plays they made all game long. Down by 4 and trying to mount a comeback win, FR QB Clint Trickett(playing to do an injury to EJ Manuel in the first quarter) was picked off. I was screaming for a defensive pass interference call, but did not get it. I posted that play too. Watch the defensive player get in the way of #80 and cut off his route.

Things ease up a bit for the Seminolesn next week. We travel to Alabama to face Cnic and his Crimson Tide.

Michigan showed in the second half that they could play with The Buckeyes as they overcame a 14 - 7 deficit to tie The Game at 28 with less than a two minutes left. But in OT nexperience on the part of Devin Gardner reared it's ugly head as the RS FR threw a pick ending the Wolverines first first possesion of the OT period and the Game. Gardner replaced Foricer for the second straight game and lead a second half comeback. Look for the media frenzy to get stirred up as fans clamor for a QB change.

    UCLA - 24
    Washington - 19

Close game in Washington. UCLA's offense was not running at full speed and was being prevented from it's full potential by Washington's surprisingly fast defense. UCLA QB Kevin Prince (26-39 346 yds and 2 TDs) to WR Smith was most of UCLA's offense as they struggled to put complete drives together. UCLA kept a 1 point lead in the second half until finally scoring and leading by 8. Washington kept threatening with their talented RB Demetrius Bronson (19 Att 105 Yds) and would NEVER go down after the first hit. However, UCLA's defense bent but never broke. UCLA was finally given the chance to put the game away with a 51 yard FG but the coaches were weary of their kicker as he missed a 30 yarder earlier on in the game. Instead, the threw in starting punter Locke and he put the FG through and put the game away (minus a quick scoring drive by Washington and a failed defensive stand by their defense).

UCLA now has a streak of 8 wins put together and are scouting the shit out of USC for their final game of the season.

Auburn went into this one coming off a loss to alabama (by sim) in a game that saw allstar back Dyer go down for 7 weeks. But the Tigers soldiered on playing a Wr and a LB in the tailback positions due to Dyer being the only Rb on the roster. WR Deangelo Benton filled in pretty nicely having 22 rushes for 95 yards and 2 tds, and LB Ladarius Phillips had 5 rushes for 31 yards. Newton also stepped up going 16-28 for 280 yards 3 touchdowns and 1 pick. Youth at the WR positon served the Tigers well also as RS Freshman Trovon Reed had 6 catches for 116 yards and 1 td. RS Freshman Jermey Richardson also had a nice day catching the ball 4 times for 72 yards.

Coach Dj after the game: "Any time you lose a player like Dyer, you want to obviously use that to fuel your team. I know that many would have thought we'd shy away from our run game, but thats our game run to set up the pass and that seemed to work really well today. One thing that dissapointed me though is as good as our pass defense has been all year we got shredded through the air. That cant happen, we cant have these shootout wins, but we kinda dont have the luxury anymore of just pounding the ball all day as we usually would. Like i said the workload for these back-up backs wont change but im not going to depend on them as i did Dyer."

The Cavs put up a good fight but tripped when nearing the finish line. At one point they were up 21-14 but gave up the lead and allowed Miami to score 14 unanswered before they got a field goal. They would come within 5 but the Canes scored to put this game to bed. MLB Shayon Green terrorized them all day with 8 tackles, 2 FF and his first INT of the season, which was practically thrown right to him. WR Benjamin had a monster day with 7 Rec, 195 yds, and a score. He was wide open all day as UVA must have forgotten he was there. He broke the single season receiving record today. HB Miller also redeemed himself after a terrible game, going over 150 yards and a score while hitting the 1,000 yard mark. Jacory Harris earned POTG as he threw close to 300 yards, 2 scores, no picks and scrambled 9 times for 65 yards.

Miami goes to 7-4 (6-2) and finish up their season at home against the #2 Boise State Broncos, a tough game indeed.

    Wire Highlights

    1) Millers TD
    2) Green plows into a receiver to force the fumble on 4th and short
    3) Harris finds Benjamin wide open
    4) Greens INT

USC had a huge day on offense led by HB Baxter who went for over 200 yards rushing. It was pretty much back and forth all game until USC finally got a big stop. Baxter then put it away with an Amazing 80 yd TD run that saw him break through a FIVE man tackle (I saved the highlight). The defense played pretty bad but made a few goods plays. QB Barkley played a great game as well going 16 for 20 for 256 yards and 4 TDs. The Trojans take on UCLA next week, the last obstacle in the way of the BCS game. GG Hokie.
