We are now into week 2. Three big user games this week so get your scheduling threads up for those. Great job last week guys.

    Game of the Week:

#6 Ohio St (Abolishthefed) @ #21 Notre Dame (MoonBBad)

Big Ten play opens early this season with a huge week 2 matchup between Ohio St and Notre Dame. This will be Notre Dame's first ever Big Ten game. Should be a great matchup of top 25 teams out in the Holy Land. I say Notre Dame takes advantage of the home-field and hype and bring home a W in their first Big Ten game.

    Welcome to Week 2!

Gators Defense Too Much for Beavers

    playerpic.JPG

    Score.JPG

This was an ugly game that produced a meager 353 total offense combined for the two teams. The deciding factor had to be the turnovers. Oregon St QB Ryan Katz threw 4 INT's on the day compared to 1 John Brantley INT and a Jeff Demps fumble. The only offensive highlight had to be the 57 yard catch and run for a TD by Chris Rainey on the Gators opening drive. GG Pecster.

    Players of the Game:
Offense - WR Chris Rainey 3 receptions 78 yards 1 TD
Defense - FS Josh Evans 5 tackles 2 INT 2 DEFL

    Alabama 13
    Iowa 6

Bend but don't break was the defensive mantra in this week 2 game and both defenses played it to the letter. A 3-3 halftime score turned into a 6-6 score in the fourth quarter with Iowa threatening 21-22 yards from the endzone. That's when the only big play of the game happened Alabama FS R. Lester stepped in front of Iowa QB James Vandenberg's pass and raced 85 yards for the game winning score. The only turnover of the game was the only TD of the game and killed any chance of an Iowa victory over the #2 team in the nation.

Just wait until you see the offensive juggernaut that is LSU... we'll be one loss for sure after this sim against USC, but that will just motivate my players to put up a bunch of points against Washington, Florida, and Alabama!

"SS Jordan Kovacs gets a big sack on QB Murray"

    Michigan 24
    Georgia 17

    deed.png

Michigan headed on the road for the first time this season to take on Georgia in the hostile Sanford Stadium. Despite having coach Bravejaf on a personal leave, Georgia still put up a good game getting out to an early 10-0 lead on Michigan. Denard had a sporadic game, missing alot of passes and unable to get nothing going on the ground. He also had his normal injury that kept him out for 3 drives. The only ground game was from HB Hopkins who had 84 yards on 16 carries. Backup QB Gardner was able to throw a TD and be efficient with his playing time. Denard returned to throw 2 TDs along with 1 INT but it was enough to carry UofM to the big road win. The defense gave up alot of yards but had 1 turnover and 3 sacks to hold back the UGA offense. Michigan now moves to 2-0 and head back home for a huge matchup with #8 ranked Boise St. The matchup will be played on a rare Sunday in Ann Arbor where the wolverines hope to garner some national attention by pulling off the upset.

Irish Eyes Were Smiling in South Bend

No it's not quite ready to wake up the echos, but the Notre Dame faithful does certainly have something to cheer about early in the season as Notre Dame is able to get a big win early in the year against Big 10 rival Ohio State.

Going into the game the Irish definitely the underdogs, but this team will not be taken lightly anymore. Ohio State was not able to get their offense on track throughout the game as the Irish defense were able to stifle both the pass and the run. Notre Dame was able to strike first mounting an impressive drive, however the Buckeyes were able to make an equally impressive 3 down stand inside their own 5 yard line to hold the Irish to a field goal.

The difference in this game were two big runs by Sophmore running back Cierre Wood. The first coming on a pretty move as he was able to allude two defenders on a cutback and take it to the house 67 yards down the field. Not too long after the Irish were able to stop the Buckeye's again and set up by an impressive downfield catch by Michael Floyd, Cierre Wood again was off to the races, this time on a 32 yard run for a touchdown.

Not to be outdone, Ohio State showed once again why they are so dangerous at any time by a huge run by RB Jaamal Berry for 79 yards and their first touchdown of the game. Notre Dame was able to hold on in the fourth quarter and take the victory for their second of the season.

Next week the Irish face rival Michigan State.
