This game was a tale of two halves. Oregon was stumped in the 1st half by Georgia's defense. The ground game kept getting stopped for little to no yardage. Darron Thomas was rattled by the Dawgs' blitzing attack and was sacked 2 times while throwing 3 interceptions. Thomas did make things close when he hit Justin Hoffman for a 73 yard bomb on a play where Georgia sent multiple rushers. The score at the half was 16-7 in favor of Georgia.

The second half was all Oregon . The Ducks dominated on both sides of the ball. On offense they used heavy doses of James and Barner. James broke a 62 yard TD in the 3rd quarter and Barner scored 3 times in the 4th. The defense did not allow Georgia to move much in this half. The Ducks were able to record a safety after downing a punt inside the five yard line.

    Key Stats:

    LaMichael James - 22 rushes 133 yards 1 TD
    Kenjon Barner - 15 rushes 100 yards 3 TDs
    Justin Hoffman - 1 catch 73 yards 1 TD
    Terrell Turner - 4 tackles (4TFL), 2 sacks, 1 Safety

Oh the Luck of the Irish!!

Notre Dame Steals One in East Lansing

Notre Dame continues to walk a fine edge between winning in losing in the first three games they have played this season. A select few plays have decided their fates against Penn State, Ohio State, and now Michigan State. Despite their balancing act, they have been able to hold on and have started their first season in the Big 10 3-0 overall and in conference plany against some very great opponents.

This game started very much the same ways Notre Dame has started every game this season. Slow on the offensive side of the ball, despite stout defense. Defense has been what is keeping them in every game. The Irish were relentless in their pursuit of Spartan QB James Vandenberg. They were able to sack him 4 times, hit him countless times, force two fumbles, and had an interception.

On the offensive side of the ball, Notre Dame was able to put together some decent drives, but weren't able to score touchdowns and had to settle for field goals until the fourth quarter. The fourth quarter things got interesting. Going into the fourth the Spartans were up 13-6 and momentum had to begun to swing their way. The Irish in an effort to swing things back their way mounted a drive which ended in a field goal to make the score 13-9. The Irish held on the Spartans next offensive possession. A few offensive plays later Dayne Crist was able to hit a WR TJ Jones for a 30 yard touchdown to make the score 16-13 Irish.

To continue the drama Michigan St was able to drive down the field to kick a field goal with 1:26 left to go in the game. On the next possession Michael Floyd was able to find space down the sideline to catch a bomb and take it 65 yards to the house with 0:32 seconds left to seal the game.

Here is a video of the Floyd catch:

    PLAYER OF THE GAME:
    ND WR Michael Floyd

Big Plays Too Much For Razorbacks

    picture.JPG

    score.JPG

This game was an offensive shootout. The Razorback passing attack was on fire from the opening drive. QB Tyler Wilson threw for over 400 yards and 5 TD's. His favorite target early on was WR Greg Childs. Childs had 5 receptions for 138 yards and 2 TD in two and half quarters of work. He went down midway through the 3rd with an injury that will sideline him for the next month. For the Gators HB Jeff Demps was gashing the Arkansas defense and John Brantley found wide open WR's all over the field. I uploaded a few of the big plays to the dynasty site.

    Players of the Game:
Offense - HB Jeff Demps 13 carries 165 yards 3 TD
Defense - CB Jeremy Brown 7 tackles 1 INT 1 TD

    Heisman Hopeful?

    Michigan 28
    #6 Boise St 23

    wehh.png

Michigan, with new coach Hova under the reigns, finally stopped being pussies out of conference and hosted #6 ranked Boise St in the big house this afternoon. Michigan would start off slow on offense while QB Kellen Moore was nearly unstoppable early throwing the ball all over and connecting on a 36 YD TD over the middle. Michigan finally broke 0 with a huge kickoff return by Roundtree for 98 yards seen here:

    http://www.easports.com/media/play/video/83058623

Michigan would give up another TD falling behind at the half before they finally caught fire on offense. Denard came alive busting out a huge 50 yard run before injuring himself once again. He would return however later to throw 2 TDs and rush for over 140 yards putting on a true Heisman performance and leading Michigan to a perfect 3-0 start. The key to stopping Boise St was the three huge interceptions on QB Kellen Moore. Michigan stays home next week as they host the Oregon St Beavers and look to crack the top 25 rankings.

    Player of the Game:

    QB Denard Robinson
    161.9 Rating 14/23 222 YDs, 2 TDs, INT
    16 Atts, 141 YDs Rushing

Beavers Shut Down Air Raid Offense of Ok State

The Beavers D essentially shut down the notorious OK State offense until late in the fourth quarter when it gave up a rushing TD just before the end of the game. Plan is to switch back to the 4-3 after this season

    Alabama 17 Kentucky 10

Today our defense started out red hot getting a 3 & out on the opening drive, followed by turnovers (2 int & fumble) on the next 3 drives. The offense responded on its 1st possession with a nice drive, all runs, capped by an 11yd TD run by T. Richardson and a 7-0 lead. The Tide would ride Richardson all day (33 carries for 169 yds and a TD), and control the clock. Backup HB E. Lacy would add 37yds for the game and a 5 yd TD run with 2:33 left in the half as Bama extended the lead 14-0. After a 3rd QTR FG and a 17-0 lead, Kentucky's offense finally came alive scoring a M Newton 8yd TD pass to B. Adams cuting the lead 17-7 with 2:14 left in the 3rd QTR. Both teams would struggle to move the ball until C McIntosh banged a 53yd FG to make it a one score game 17-10 with 2:53 remaining to play. The offense responded with enough 1st downs to run out the clock, including a key 3rd and long pass which was only Bama's 4th completion of the game. The passing game remains unproductive going 4-11 for 105 yds and 1 pick & 2 sacks. The defense seemed to let down late, but still only gave up 201 total yds while getting 3 turnovers and 3 sacks. Next we have back-to-back byes.......thats odd?

    LSU 13
    Washington 10

This would have been a really boring game to watch... both offenses were pretty bad, both defenses played pretty well... really long plays (a long run by Polk and a long screen to Randle) led to the only two TDs. A missed field goal by LSU almost came back to haunt them, but Washington threw a pick at the end instead of playing for OT.

Polk was pretty much a monster, he broke a ton of tackles. Jordan Jefferson may sit for the rest of the season, he's terrible.

I don't know what else to write for this game... it was really uneventful.

I have Bauserman in my other OD and I kind of like him. Jefferson just flat out misses receivers by miles.

    USC 57 - Washington St. 21

After a 2 week suspension for Coach Sternal, he finally took the field with his USC Trojans for the first time and his coaching layoff showed allowing Washington St to think about an upset going up 14-7 in the first quarter. It was at this point USC went on a tear scoring 38 straight on it's way to the 36 point route.

Marc Tyler firmly planted himself in the Heiman Trophy race with a great game. 19 carries for 182 yards and a trio of touchdowns in the first 3 quarters before giving way to Morgan who had a nice 124 yard game with a pair of TD's in mop up duty.

Matt Barkley, the perfect game manager went 7 for 11 for 172 yards, 1 TD and 1 INT.

Next week USC welcomes the newest Pac-12 Team, the Utah Utes for the Utes first conference game.

Did the report ever get released why Coach Sternal was suspended? I am hearing rumors it has something to do with exploiting USC cheerleaders' services at an underground brothel?
