    The Florida Gators survive a hurricane in the Swamp. Miami dominated the first quarter. Their opening drive took them to the Florida 1 yard line where the Gator D held on a 4th and goal. Florida was then held to a 3 and out. Miami put together another impressive drive. This time there would be no stall. Aldaruius Johnson out jumper a shorter CB for a 7-0 lead. Florida would then respond with two 2nd quarter TDs. Jeff Demps would take a pitch 63 yards for a TD and Jeff Brantley would hit a wide open Jordan Reed streaking over the middle for a 25 yard TD. That would be about it for the Gator passing game. Brantley would throw an INT on 3 straight possessions in the 3rd quarter. I decided to bench him for Freshman Jeff Driskel. Driskel would complete only 1 of 4 passes, but no turnovers. Lucky for us, Miami was only able to turn the INT's into FG's. We took the lead for good with about two minutes to go when we subbed in Trey Burton at HB. Burton pounded the Miami D into submission. This was a huge game against an in-state rival. We had 10 recruits in attendence and hope they enjoyed the show.

    Players of the Game:
    Offense - Jeff Demps 20 carries 140 yards 1 TD
    Defense - DT Omar Hunter 10 tackles 4 TFL 2.5 Sacks

    #17 Ohio State 35

    Ohio State bounced back from last week's heartbreaking loss to Oregon with a complete thrashing of SEC foe Arkansas. The silver bullets pitched a shutout and only allowed 119 yards of offense. Chants of Big Ten! Big Ten! Big Ten! could be heard around the stadium in the 4th quarter. In the postgame press conference, Bobby Petrino admitted the Big Ten is better than the SEC and called SEC fans a bunch of "homers". On offense, Bauserman got on track with 2 TD and no turnovers. The game was key, as there were multiple recruits in the stands.

    USC 38 vs. Arizona St. 20

    Another huge quarter for USC, this time on the defensive side of the ball.

    The first was an interception/fumble on a botched option that resulted in a long TD return for USC.

    On the following drive, Arizona States B. Osweiler fumbled the option and it was returned for a TD. Unfortunately it was ruled the Osweiler was down by contact and it was 3rd and 10 for the Sun Devils. With the game still in reach at 28-17 and a huge gift granted to the Sun Devils, a mistimed throw was picked off on the very next play and returned 42 yards by Burnett for the back breaking TD putting USC up 35-17.

    A late field goal would make the half time score 38-17 and USC put it on cruise control, pounding the rock and taking the 18 point victory for their first Pac-12 Road Win.

    Next up for USC is another road outing in Arizona against the Wildcats and a chance to move to 4-0 in conference play.

    Oregon loses Darron Thomas in the 2nd quarter and then loses the game. Thomas threw the only Duck TD of the game before being knocked out for the rest of the match-up. Bryan Bennett came in to led the team and ended up looking like a deer in the headlights. He completed only 4 of 12 passes and threw 3 interceptions while being sacked 5 times. This lose was not all on him though. The Wildcat defense just seemed to have the Ducks number all afternoon. They held LaMichael James to a 3.2 yard per carry average. Oregon also only managed 128 total yards in the game. Hopefully this loss does not hurt too much. The Ducks had a big recruiting weekend with 9 prospects on hand. Oregon will need to regroup and get Darron Thomas healthy if they expect to have any chance against the high-powered Crimson Tide of Alabama next weekend.

    Key Stats:

    David Paulson - 4 catches 61 yards 1 TD
    Wade Keliikipi - 4 tackles, 2 TFL, 2.5 sacks
    Taylor Hart - 2 tackles, 2 TFL, 2 sacks

    Second this... I was shocked. Now I don't feel bad being the only one that lost to the computer thus far.

    I just really cannot figure out the passing in this game. It will probably not be the only CPU loss I have.

    LSU showed why they are a top 10 team by absolutely destroying the Bulldogs.

    As well as the offense played, the defense really won this game, only allowing 84 yards of offense. The tigers forced 2 fumbles, 2 interceptions, and 4 sacks. Bulldogs QB Relf was held to a tiny 29% completion percentage on the day. Running the ball didn't go much better for Mississippi State, as Ballard was only able to gain 34 yards on 6 carries - this includes a 34 yard run where he was stripped at the end.

    Jordan Jefferson started the game at quaterback, but was removed after the first quarter. He completed only 6 of his 13 passes, which included 2 drops and 4 passes to open receivers that he completely missed. Zach Mettenberger was put in and performed brilliantly, completing 14/19 passes for 200 yards and 3 TDs. The running game was interesting today, as 8 players recorded runs. The defense was kept on its toes with jet sweeps, draws, and even power. As a unit, the Tigers offense tallied 138 yards on the ground.

    This is the second consecutive game where Jefferson has been pulled due to a lack of accuracy. With big games against Kentucky and Florida coming up, it is imperative that the Tigers figure out what they want to do at quarterback. Mettenberger has been more consistent in the air, but Jefferson is more dangerous on the ground. Could we see both quarterbacks get significant time down the stretch?

    Jefferson: 129.2 rating, 40/69, 484 yds, 5 TD, 4 INT, 22 att, 116 yds
    Mettenberger: 170.5 rating, 20/30, 3 TD, 0 INT, 10 att, 31 yds

    Georgia 19
    Iowa 0

    Coach Brave returned to the field after rumored affairs with Kate Beckinsale, Jessica Biel and Emma Stone. While he was gone the Bulldogs went 0-3 so the game against Iowa was a must-win. The Bulldogs offense did not accomplish much but but the defense was stellar. Iowa QB Vandenberg completed just 4 of 10 passes, including an interception. The pressure by the Georgia D-Line created problems for the Hawkeyes passing game. Georgia sacked Vandenberg 6 times, including 5 by the defensive line. Defensive tackles Geathers and Jenkins led the way with 2 sacks each. Safety Rambo grabbed the pick for Georgia.

    As for the offense, the best accomplishment was no turnovers. Murray did not throw a pick, as he completed 11 of 17 passes for 135 yards. He passed for the only TD of the game. The score came on a 9 yard pass to King in the second quarter. The rest of Georgia's points came from the leg of Walsh. The Bulldogs' kicker made all 4 attempts, including a long of 53.

    Georgia has a bye in week 6, followed by a home game against Tennessee in week 7. At 2-3 (0-1) the Bulldogs cannot afford another loss this season.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Player of the Game #1 - K Walsh 4-4 FG 53 long, 1-1 XP

    Player of the Game #2 - DT Geathers 5 tackles (4 solo, 1 atk) 3 tackles for loss 2 sacks

    Player of the Game #3 - TE Charles 3 receptions 71 yards

    Keys Stats for the Game

    * 3rd down conversion: Iowa 2-8, Georgia 6-12

    * Passing yards: Iowa 52, Georgia 135

    * Turnovers: Iowa 1, Georgia 0
