No big surprises here as the Alabama defense dominated the day again getting the games 1st score on a pick 6, then added another 4 ints and 4 sacks giving up 231 total yards for the day. The offense rode HB T. Richardson for 30 carries, 195 yds and 3 TDs......next up is a talented Ole Miss team....

Oregon starts off slowly but regroups to get a much needed win. The Ducks found themselves down 14-0 at the end of the 1st quarter thanks to two big TD runs (97, 39 yards) by Isi Sofele. It looked like this was going to end up being a blowout for the home team. Oregon took control of things after that. They scored 21 in the 2nd quarter to close the half up 21-14.

The Ducks started the 2nd half by stopping the Bears opening drive. With the passing game still struggling the running game was going to have to carry the team to a victory. James and Barner did just that. They finished the game with 330 yards on the ground with 4 TDs. Cliff Harris added two big interceptions to help seal the victory.

The Ducks move to (1-1) in the PAC 12 and will travel to Arizona to face the Sun Devils next week.

    Key Stats:

    LaMichael James - 16 carries 170 yards 1 TD
    Kenjon Barner - 12 carries 160 yards 3 TDs
    Justin Hoffman - 1 catch 34 yards 1 TD
    Michael Clay - 12 tackles 3 TFL
    Cliff Harris - 3 tackles 2 interceptions

    LSU - 20
    Florida - 16

Depending on how you look at it, this game was either not nearly as closer, or closer than the score indicates. LSU's defense dominated for a vast majority of the game, but gave up two TDs thanks to really big plays. Florida had a chance to tie the game up after winning another jump ball with less than a minute on the clock, but ended up throwing a pick. Florida's defensive line played very well, limiting Ware to 4 ypc on the day, and sacking Jefferson 5 times. The jet sweeps were also ineffective against due to the penetration from the defensive ends.

The pressure and variety of coverages really forced LSU to spread the ball out a lot. There was too much pressure for Shepard and Randle to get vertical and catch deep balls like they wanted, and were forced to settle for a lot of short passes. Zone coverage really prevented outs and quite often there was not enough time for the routes to really open up. Jefferson had a pretty solid game though, completing 24/34 passes for 232 yards, 2 TDs, and 1 INT (I pressed the wrong button or it probably would've been a TD :().

The LSU defense kept the speedy Gator offense off balance all day, limiting them to a completion percentage of 55 and limited Demps to 73 yards on 11 carries, most of which came on his TD scamper and a play before half time where LSU's defense was dropped back. The line got great penetration and the linebackers got to the ball quickly. Those big plays through the air accounted for over half of Florida's yards on the day.

Coach Killernuts told the media after the game that this was a huge win. He talked about how key this win will be in the race for an SEC title game berth, praised Florida's players and their high level of play, and said that Florida will always be a tough game, but has high hopes that they will be able to compete every year. He also joked that he plans on having his DBs improve their jumping a lot so that similar big plays do not haunt the team down the road.

Next week the Tigers will go on the road to play Tennessee. There are rumors swirling that Coach Killernuts will not be able to make the trip, but he was hopeful that he would be in attendance.

    Good game Ceewo.

I kept waiting for Jefferson to screw up..it just never happened. He kept the chains moving. I had three turnovers in the redzone. You just dont win too many when that happens. It would have been a big win if we could have pulled it out, but its not the end of the season. Id like to get a rematch in the SEC championship game if I can hold of the Bulldogs.

Yeah, the turnovers certainly didn't help you out. Jefferson had maybe one off target throw, but he actually played really well that game. Hopefully he can keep that up so I don't need to worry about Mettenberger getting hurt and being left with just Jefferson for a game, lol.

Michigan takes down NW on the road

Michigan traveled south to take on the wildcats in big ten play and dominated throughout. In a MIRACULOUS event, QB Denard Robinson actually completed a game without injury... He would put together a strong game passing for 133 yards and a TD and rushing for 83 and a TD. The defense was stellar all game, only giving up a few big plays. The defense had 2 INTs including a pick 6. Michigan stays undefeated and head back home next week for a huge rivalry game with little brother Michigan State.

Despite Mistakes Irish Continue to Finish on Top

South Bend, IN -- They aren't winning pretty, but they are winning. The Irish (5-1) came into the game with a 4-1 record looking to make a statement against the the 4-0 Illini this evening. They didn't make any statements, but they walked away with a win. However, coach Brian Kelly isn't satisfied. "Did we win the game? Yes, we won the game, but there is still a lot we need to work on." Defense, per usual led the way with Notre Dame forcing the Illini to make 4 turnovers which included three interceptions and one fumble recovery. Cierre Wood was able to return early and racked up 111 yards on 25 carries. All American WR Michael Floyd had another strong day with 5 receptions for 72 yards and a TD. Next week the Irish play a huge game against the #2 ranked Wisconsin Badgers.
