    Miami!

Cancel the party in Chapel Hill, the dream season is over.

    #18 Miami 42

    #4 UNC 35

This game was all but defensive. A game that accumulated 950 yards of offense would end in a Hurricane victory. North Carolina's offense was insanely good as they didn't get much from the ground but always had a receiver open. The story was the same for Miami as they relied heavily on the pass but did decent on the ground. Benjamin and Byrd became an unstoppable WR duo to help Miami over a rowdy crowd in Chapel Hill. UNC would have gone up 14-0 but thankfully Miamis defense had one shining moment as they forced a fumble and managed to get downfield and score, starting the day of back and forth. Getting the ball first at the second half helped as well as Miami would go up 35-21, the Tar Heels would have none of that as they raced back to tie it. With little over a minute left the game was tied but Jacory Harris found several open receivers and was able to drive into the redzone. With about 5 seconds remaining in the game Coach Masler elected to run the ball and it turned out to be a great all as Miller ran in untouched to pull off the upset.

Miami goes up 6-2 (5-1) and travel to Blacksburg next week to fight for a spot in the ACC Champ game as the winner of this game will surely go.

    Stats

    J. Harris 20/30, 393 yds, 4 TD, 0 INT

    L. Miller 21 Car, 71 yds, 2 TD

    T. Benjamin 8 Rec, 179 yds, TD

    L. Byrd 5 Rec, 109 yds, 2 TD

Neither team recorded as sack as the O lines were flawless today and only Miami forced a turnover.

    Wire Highlights

    1) L. Byrd backpedals in double coverage to catch a TD.
    2) Byrd catches a pass that bounces off the defenders chest that setup a TD.
    3) Miller runs in untouched to seal Miami's victory.

    Alabama - 52
    Vanderbilt - 24

McCarron gets harrassed but Alabama is still able to crush Vandy

Vanderbilt became an elite pass rushing squad this week; totaling 8 sacks on the day. I could not keep them from getting pressure all afternoon. When they were not sacking my QB, they were knocking down his passes. They had 9 total pass deflections on the day. A.J. McCarron was still able to pass for a career high 417 yards and 5 touchdowns. He was also intercepted twice. Alabama is ready for Trent Richardson to return from injury. The running game was only able to total 89 yards with Demetrius Goode going for 53 of those. Julio Jones has slowly creaped his way into the Heisman race. He caught 8 balls for 195 yards and 1 score.

Defensively, Alabama was able to create 7 turnovers (4 FR and 3 INTs). Unfortunately, they gave up 366 total yards. Damion Square led the attack with 7 total tackles (3TFL) and 1 sack. Courtney Upshaw was able to recover a fumble in the endzone for a touchdown.

Alabama will next travel to Mississippi State to face the Bulldogs.

Maryland came out looking for an upset, and they almost got it. It was only a minute and a half into the game and Maryland had already built a 14-0 lead. It appeared as if the Terrapins had viewed tape of our previous games and wanted to make EJ Manuel beat them. They loaded up to stop the run and it worked, limiting us to only 62 yards on the ground. Their ROLB was a beast blowing up the running plays in the backfield on many occasions.

Manuel showed that he is capable of winning games and not just managing the offense. He completed passes to 9 differant reciever. He totaled 342 yards passing and all 5 of the Seminole TD's.

A driving monsoon kept the points at a premium in this one. Ju Ju Clayton was 12-16 for 179 yds and 2 TD's, but kept the ball away from BC. BC had 4 TO's, most of which came in their red zone.

This game was all about clock management as both teams had long drives all game. Auburn just by a few yards came out with this one as Georgia fell short on the 2pt conversion try. Murry prematurely pitched back to RB Ealey who had a one on one match with Auburn corner Anthony Gulley Morgan, who came up huge and stuffed the back. Ealey though had a big game running the ball just 10 times for 111 yards but no TDS. Dyer was good as usual running the ball 23 times for 138 yards and a score. Newton was pretty accurate minus 1 bad pass early in the game going 5-7 for 101 yards.

Coach DJ after the game: " We wanted to come in here and punch them straight in the mouth from the opening drive. Shove the run down there throats til they couldnt see what was coming next. That worked for the most part, but man i'll tell you that Georgia defense is tough. This game was well coached I dont think theres a loser here beyond the score. We just happened to come up with defensive stops when we really needed them."
