    Washington - 40
    SDSU - 0

Washington started the season by stomping the Aztecs of San Diego State. They were quite lost without Hillman and Lindley on the offensive side of the ball. Star QB Price would have an impressive performance, completing 18/21 passes for 320 yards and 4 TDs. He also threw a pick in red zone on a nice play by a defender in zone coverage. On the ground, Washington running backs combined for 180 yards on 37 carries (4.8/per). Johnson ended up being the primary receiving target on the day, with 7 catches for 118 yards and a TD. By far the best defender on the day was defensive end Shirley, who had 4 sacks. Tokolahi had a sack for a safety. Trufant and Ducre each added a pick. Overall, the Huskies out gained the Aztecs 518 to 125 in total offense.

Next week the Huskies will travel to Los Angeles to play MoonBBad and the UCLA Bruins.

    Maryland 27
    UMASS 3

Maryland opened the 2012 season at home hosting the UMASS Minutemen. This would be the first game UMASS would play as an official member of Division 1 football. The Terps would start out with a long drive capped off with an 8 YD TD pass to WR Boykins from QB Brown. The Terp defense would then get an INT from FS Franklin that would result in a FG. Maryland would then control the game from there out with a great performance from the defense only allowing 163 yards on the day. QB Brown hit a 66 YD bomb to TE Furstenburg late in the 3rd QTR to blow this one open. Maryland gets the home opener W and are now 1-0. Next week they face a MUCH tougher challenge in the #10 ranked Mountaineers in West Virginia for the annual rivalry game.

    QB C. Brown 15/23 206 YDs, 3 TDs
    HB J. Pickett 27 Carries, 122 YDs
TE Furstenburg 4 Catches, 85 YDS, TD
    FS Franklin 5 Tackles, INT

    Colorado State 23
    Colorado 24

Colorado pulls out the victory in the Rocky Mountain Showdown late after playing a poor game defensively. CSU went up 7-0 early in the first quarter on a blown coverage that resulted in a 61 yard TD pass. CU would answer late in the second quarter to tie the game at 7-7 but CSU would hit a FG as time expired in the half and take a 10-7 lead into halftime. CSU would add another FG in the third and CU would kick their own FG at the end of the third to bring the score to 13-10 CSU. State would finally get another TD on a 16 yard run where the running back made the CU defense look awful. Fortunately CU finally put together a quick scoring drive of their own and scored a TD only 31 seconds later to cut the lead to 20-17. Of course CSU got another FG with 3:26 left in the game to go up 23-17. On the first play of the ensuing drive CU answered with a 73 yard TD bomb as the WR ran right by the corner and take their first lead 24-23 and hold on for the win.

CSU QB Garrett Grayson went 28/32 for 362 yards and a TD and took two critical sacks that only allowed them to come away with 3 points on two drives in the red zone. He spread the ball around and five receivers caught 4 or more passes each, while RB Chris Nwoke ran for 89 yards with a 5.9 yard average.

CU QB Nick Hirschman went 14/23 for 306 yards and 2 TD passes while taking 3 sacks on the day. HB Tony Jones chugged out 78 yards and a TD with a 4.5 yard average. WR Paul Richardson caught 7 passes for 150 yards before being injured in the fourth quarter. WR Keenan Canty caught 3 balls for 96 yards including the eventual game winner.

Its going to be a very long season if our defense continues to give QBs 27 days to throw the football and then not tackle players with the ball on the first or second attempt.

    Iowa: 19
    Ohio State: 16 (OT)

Iowa kicked off its 2012 campaign with a brutal road contest at #19 Ohio State. The Hawkeyes were able to escape Columbus with the victory despite trying to give the game away late. The game was far from pretty and at times looked liked your classic Big10 battle.

Iowa's run game made up for a pathetic passing attack as Canzari ran for 121 yards and one score and Bullock followed with 70 yards on just eight carries. Iowa's passing attack accounted for just 99 yards with K. Davis leading all receivers with 65 yards and one score.

The game was truly won by Iowa's defense, which did a more than adequate job containing Urban Meyer's offense that was spearheaded by Braxton Miller and Carlos Hyde. Dean Tsopinious accounted for 2.5 sacks and a crucial forced fumble.

Hyde gave OSU an early 7-0 lead when he scored off of a long run, but Iowa was able to score the next 10 points off of a 40 yard FG and a 48-yard TD grab by Davis. The Hawkeyes settled for one more field goal in the second quarter to take a 13-10 lead into the half.

The second half saw even less scoring as a field goal by Ohio State was the only points put on the board. Iowa did have a chance to win the game late in the fourth quarter, but an interception inside the 10-yard line assured that the first game of the season would be an overtime affair.

Iowa won the toss and elected to play defense. After holding Ohio State to another FG, the Iowa offense wasted little time pulling off the upset with a four-play drive that was capped by a one-yard score from Canzar.

    BYU: 13
    GT: 49

    First Quarter
The game opened with a long drive by Georgia Tech that was capped off by an 11 yard run by Jamie Alvarez. BYU was quick to respond however marching down the field before stalling out and having to kick a field goal despite quarterback Riley Nelson being perfect on the drive. GT would take the ball back and fly down the field, scoring on a 21 yard touchdown run from quarterback Tevin Washington to make it a 14-3 game at the end of one

    Second Quarter
BYU took the ball after going down and Nelson led them straight down the field before giving the ball to tailback Michael Alisa who would run through two Yellow Jackets on his way into the endzone. The Yellow Jackets were not going to back down though, undeterred by the momentum swing they methodically moved the ball down the field, eventually ending up in the endzone by way of a two yard Orwin Smith run with 1:21 left on the clock. BYU punched right back though, taking just over a minute to march down into field goal range and hitting a 27 yarder with 20 seconds left. Getting the ball with 20 seconds on the clock, conventional wisdom says either air it out or run out the clock, but Coach Coleman had other ideas. The GT offense moved its way down the field quickly and were rewarded with a 39 yard touchdown run by Washington as time expired in the half to give the Jackets a 28-13 lead at the midway point

    Third Quarter
The Cougars wanted to get moving out of the break, trying to regain momentum, and looked to have the Yellow Jacket defense on their heels and moving the ball with ease. However, a fumble would stall the drive and to make matters worse Jamal Golden scooped up the fumble and took it back 47 yards to the house. The BYU offense wasn't phased though, storming right back down inside the ten and in prime scoring position. On first and goal Nelson dropped back wanting to hit Cody Hoffman, but Zach Laskey had other ideas and snagged down the pass, taking the interception 100 yards for the score and shoving a dagger in the hearts of the BYU faithful.

    Fourth Quarter
Nothing much happened in the fourth as the Yellow Jackets just looked to run out the clock and give the backups some playing time. They were able to score on more touchdown when backup quarterback Synjyn Days punched it in from two yards out.

    POG
    Tevin Washington - 3/3 42 yards 0 TD/0 INT. 9 carries, 160 yards, 2 TD

    Notable stats
The Yellow Jackets only had to throw four times in the game and amassed 320 yards on the ground

Just have Will Atkinson and the user game between MoonBBad and RadarRider to go.

Seems the late games weren't quite as close as some of the earlier ones.

Michigan State goes down in a flood of rain to Boise State.
Overall the Spartans simply could not stop the Boise offense.
Boise QB Joe Southwick has a great night with 78% completion percentage.
Meanwhile two Boise backs each eclipsed the 100 yard rushing mark.
Boise grinded out drive after drive passing and running at will.

The Spartans made a valiant comeback and got within 6 points in the 4th quarter.
Mumphery had 4 catches for 171 yards and 2 TDs and Arnett grabbed 4 balls for 111 yards and 2 TDs. Fowler als had 4 catches and 52 yards.

Unfortunately an under thrown pass got picked off and ended MSU hopes with under two minutes to go. It's a shame because the Spartans had time to drive down the field. They were already in the Boise state half. The QB said he just saw the man open on the post and thought he had the game winning play. The ball was just under thrown - game over.

we need to name the scoreboard threads for this dynasty in some way to differentiate them from the previous dynasty- maybe include NCAA 13 in the title???

    >>for example there are already threads titled Legacy 2012 week 1 and so on.... we will be playing he same years as the previous Legacy dynasty[ies] did as we move along through the year

    maybe something like

    NCAA 13: 2012 Week 2 Game Summaries

The Tar Heels start off the year in dominating fashion with a 38-7 win over the Thundering Herd. QB Bryn Renner was was the star of the game, throwing for 285 yards on 22-29 passing and 4 TD's. Renner might have been the star, but his O-line did their job and then some. The Tar Heel O-line racked up 16 pancakes, with center Russell Bodine leading the way with 5 pancakes. Giovanni Bernard added 65 yards rushing and a TD on 14 carries. Jheranie Boyd had 5 catches for 114 yards and 2 TDs. Erik Highsmith also had 6 catches for 53 yards.

Defensively, the Tar Heels struggled in some aspects and excelled in others. They forced 3 turnovers, and held the Herd to just 210 yards of total offense, but struggled to get 3 and outs, despite the fact that the Herd was just 3/11 on third down. The defense also forced 6 sacks and held the Herd to just 120 yards passing.

Next Week the Tar Heels take a trip to the Little Apple to take on Kansas State.

The new regime treated the ASU faithful to an abysmal 1 point overtime loss in Tempe. This was an extremely frustrating game, as my only playmaker, HB Marshall was injured on the first play of the game for 3 quarters. The Sun Devils continued to move downfield to the Spartan 15 yard line. On a 2nd down play, QB Bercovici threw the ball 8 yards behind a WR on a square in pattern for an INT. The Sun Devils defense was doing a good job, until the SJSU HB broke 6 tackles on one play for a 70+ yard run. However, that was less frustrating than SJSU's QB dropping back to pass and running the ball 19 times. The ASU defensive line had velcro on the front of their jerseys and did not get off a block the entire game. SJSU's QB was a superstar on this day. At one point in the game, he was 15-19. The 4 incompletions were all drops. It is going to be a long season and I'm looking forward to bringing in some talent for this squad and finding a playbook that fits their play style.

Illinois overcomes shaky start with big 4th quarter

The Fighting Illini let Western Michigan hang around all game, but overcame a below average passing performance from Nathan Scheelhaase to pull away in the 4th quarter to win 31-17. Scheelhaase went 2/15 in the first half, with an INT. Granted, 5 of those incompletions were drops, but the Illini offense struggled mightily in the first half. Luckily the defense came up with a big interception in the 2nd quarter, which led to an easy touchdown for Illinois, who went into the locker room with a 10-3 halftime lead. WMU QB Alex Carder threw 49 passes on Saturday, and the Broncos were always within arms reach of Illinois. The WMU defense held Illinois scoreless in the 3rd, and the 4th quarter started with a 10-10 tie. Scheelhaase, who had started to get into a rhythm in the 3rd quarter, really lit up the Broncos in the 4th. With TD throws of 37 and 55 yards, and a 32 yard TD run, Illinois was able to pull out a tough fought victory against Western Michigan thanks to their veteran QB. HB Donovonn Young was also a force on the ground, gaining 101 yards on only 12 carries, including a 35 yard run in the 4th to set up an Illinois touchdown. Scheelhaase also showed his ability to run the ball efficiently with 76 yards on 15 carries, and the 32 yard touchdown.

    N'western: 30
    UCLA: 0

N'western started off the season with a 30 to 0 tromping over UCLA. N'western started the game with a 3 minute drive that lead to a K. Colter 21 yard TD run. UCLA could not respond then, and never did. Though UCLA had a team total 99 yards rushing, it was the QB play of Freshmen (RS) Brett Hundley, that shot the mighty bruins in the foot: 10-25 106 yards and 3 int's. N'western established the run, and stuck with it. Sophomore starting running back Treyvon Green left the game with an unknown injury leaving the ball carrying duties to freshmen (RS) Jordan Perkins. How did he responded? 25 att 235 yrds 4 tds 9.4 ave (66 yards TD run). These wildcats might have a new weapon. Perkins was not the only highlight of today's game. The Wildcat defense gave a up a total 205 yards of offense, cause 4 turnovers and registered 4 sacks, and kept UCLA out of the Red Zone for all 4 quarters. N'western plays home in week two against Vanderbilt and UCLA travels back home to face Washington.
