First of all, how the fuck did Alabama jump me in the poles? I know it is still early in the season, but I just do not understand this at all. Thats enough of my rant.

Wake Forest took an early 7-0 in the first quarter. EJ Manuel exploded in the 2nd quarter. He lead the FSU offense to 24 points in the quarter. He hit 3 long TD passes. Manuel played well enough to take a spot on the bench midway through the 3rd quarter. We were able to set the game on cruise control and put away Wake Forest fairly easily.

Next week we face ACC rival Virginia Tech

    Key Stats:
QB EJ Manuel 10-14 291 yards 4 TD
HB Brendan Marks 115 total yards 1 TD
    WR Rodney Smith 4-116 1TD
    WR Eric Carter 1-73 1TD
MLB Jeff Luc 9 tackles 1 sack
DE Chris Bush 4 tackles 3 TFL 2 Sacks

    #9 Penn State 24
    #8 Ohio State 21

Rivals Penn State and Ohio State came into the game ranked 8 and 9 on the AP Poll and the game showed the two teams were very close in talent. In the early part of the game it appeared Penn State would cruise to the win. The Nittany Lions scored first on a 6 yard run by Kevin Newsome (highlight on wire). The Penn State defense continued to shutdown Ohio State and the offense added a second touchdown before the half. This time Newsome used his arm instead of his legs, tossing a 23 yard TD to Devon Smith.

Ohio State came roaring back in the second half and their defense managed to slow dowwn Penn State. On the opposite side the Buckeyes offense finally got rolling. Midway through the third quarter Jamal Berry chopped the lead in half with an 11-yard TD run. In the fourth quarter Penn State managed to tie the game when Kenny Guiton hit James Louis for a TD pass. After a Newsome interception it was Guiton to Louis again, giving OSU a 7 point lead. Newsome showed off the poise he acquired from his three years as starting QB. He calmly led his team down the field and tied it with just over 2 minutes left. The scoring play was a 19-yard reception by Smith, his second of the game. After Ohio State was stuffed Penn State had a chance to win the game in regulation. Newsome and Dukes got the team in field goal range, leaving Harrell with a 36 yarder for the game. The snap was good, the hold was good and Harrell nailed it between the uprights.

Penn State is hoping the momentum carries over into its next game. The Nittany Lions take on the Iowa Hawkeyes and revenge is on the mind of this team. Iowa beat Penn State and claimed the Big 10 crown last season.

Offensive player of the game: Kevin Newsome 15-28 296 2 TD/1 INT; 10 carries 63 yards 1 TD

Defensive player of the game: Khairi Fortt 6 tackles 4 tackles for loss 4 sacks

    Alabama - 17
    Georgia - 9

This was a very clean for both teams. There were no turnovers or sacks. The game came down to dropped passes on the goalline for Georgia. I believe he hit an open receiver three times in a row in the endzone only to have the receiver drop the ball. Everything else was pretty much even. Here are the team stats:

    Georgia Alabama
    11 First Downs 13

Great game cnic. I love those defensive battles. I had the ball first and goal from the 7 with a true freshman QB that was rattled all game and the QB came through. However, my receivers dropped 4 straight balls. Three straight drops were to my 90 ranked Sr TE. Just to prove it wasn't a fluke, they came out and dropped the first ball of the next half. Good luck the rest of the way.

    #7 USC 63
    #20 Cal 10

"After losing bad last week at home USC turns it around fast on the road and annihilates Cal in a rivalry game. The defense dominate all game long only giving up 3 points until Cal scored a cheap TD late on the 2nd string defense. The defense turned in SEVEN turnovers including 6 INTs of which 3 were returned for TDs. CB Moore also got his league leading 5th INT of the season. USC set up the run with HB Baxter who had 96 yards and 3 TDs which allowed Barkley to burn the defense multiple times going 7/9 for 165 yards and 2 TDs. USC rolled on both sides of the ball and got their swagger back after being knocked off last week. USC heads home next week for a big matchup with the #12 ranked Stanford Cardinals."

Only 3 more games left to be played this week...

    Miami 52

    Duke 7

No surprise here as the Canes demolish lowly Duke. Actually, as embarassing as it is, both teams were equally rated but Miamis defense stepped up and only allowed one cheap score. Nothing too exciting from this game. Miami breaks free from .500 to go 3-2.

Well he got injured week 1 and went down for 4 weeks and basically lost his job. Baxter still seems to be more agile and his 99 elusiveness is what keeps him on the field over Vickers. Vickers has now been assigned to punt and kick returns after Franz displayed his ability to almost single-handlely put us out of games with his fumblitis.

    Washington- 21

Oregon struggled again as their #1 ranking might be putting too much pressure on the Ducks. Trailing 21-14 going into the 4th quarter Oregon scored 17 unanswered points to squeak out another win against a Pac 10 foe. Barner rushed for 162yds 3 TD as he continues to be the offense for Oregon.
