We are now into 2013 Week 1! All CPU games this week. Make sure you have posted in the playbook thread AND get your recruiting and game summary threads up ASAP. I had to give some guys back to back byes and also 2 people have 5 user games. I had to do this because if the stupid big ten schedule. I game them to Michigan since he won the Big Ten and FSU since he won the Title. Hopefully I didn't screw up anything too bad.

    Game of the Week:

    #10 Texas @ #1 Alabama (Cnic75)

Next ADV will be no later than SATURDAY at 10 AM EST.

FSU opened the season ranked #3 and started thier season against lowly UL Lafayette. FSU is led on offense by Heisman candidate HB Brendan Marks and Sophomore QB Scott Jones. Marks and Jones were the first two :5stars: players I signed in our first season. This will be the first year that they are both starters. I am excited to see what they can do together. We have a tough schedule with 5 users games, and a potential 6th user game in the ACC conference championship game. Repeating will not be easy. On to the game.

Marks got us going early before taking a spot on the bench. He scored a pair of TD's in the opening quarter. One was out of the wildcat for 50 yards. He played a quarter and a half before we decided to save him for the long season. Scott Jones would prove his worth in the 2nd quarter with a pair of TD passes. This game was never in question and the defense picked up where they left off last year. ULL had a chance to get 3 points in the 3rd quarter but missed the FG. FSU rushing offense combined for 274 yards and 5 TD. It was nice to get a feel for our new team and coast to an easy victory. But this was not a true test for our team. That should happen next week when we host defending Big Ten Champion Michigan.

    Key Stats:
    QB Scott Jones 12/17 150 yards 3TD 0INT
HB Brendan Marks 84 total yards 2TD
HB Kevin Lester 133 rushing yards 1TD
HB Joe Hill 70 rushing yards 2TD
WR Greg Dent 3 receptions 47 yards 2TD
    DT Nick Randle 5 tackles 3TFL 1 Sack 1FF
SS Donea Reid 6 tackles 1FF
DE Chris Bush 4 tackles 2TFL 1 sack

HB Marcus Coker and Iowa got off to a great start to the 2013 season. This game was never in doubt as Iowa scored 35 of the games first 42 points. Coker showed why many consider him to be the best HB in the nation going over 100 yards in the first half. Iowa's defense performed better than expected, true freshman MLB Terrell Marshall had a great game in pass coverage while the revamped defensive line got constant pressure all day. QB Nick Richardson was perfect in his first full season as the starter. He looked much more poised than last year when he replaced noodle armed and struggling two year starter John Vandenburg midway through the season.

    Key Stats:
HB Marcus Coker 25 carries 189 yards 4 TDs
QB Nick Richardson 13/13 221 yards 2 TDs 0 Ints
    WR Kevonte Martin-Manley 4 catches 105 yards
CB Carey Bell 4 Tackles 1 INT

    Alabama - 30
    Texas - 24

Alabama survives a tough Texas team. A.J. McCarron led the way going 13 for 19 for 271 and 1 touchdown. TE Joe Parker surprisingly was the leading receiver in the game. The Longhorns kept blitzing multiple linebackers so I kept hitting Parker. He caught 6 balls for 162 yards and touchdown. Nicholas Mitchell was the leading rushing for Alabama. He carried the ball 17 times for 84 yards.

    Miami Destroys USF

The game started very slow as both teams could not get an offense going. I could tell right from the start my defense is going to be special this year. The scoring started when Olivier Vernon broke past USF's offensive line and sacked the Bulls QB in the endzone for 2 points. Not long after Storm Johnson ran his first of 4 TDs in the make the game 9-0. USF had a cheap drive to score and make it a 2 point game. The remaining 42 points would belong to Miami as Storm Johnson ran 3 more TDs in and QB Young threw for 400 yards. The defense was great as they forced 4 fumbles and recovered them all. Adam Samuel and Olivier Vernon led the defense.
Miami has a great start to the season at 1-0. They host the Iowa Hawkeyes next week.
    Stats
    J. Young 23/44, 400 yards, 3 TD
    S. Johnson 23 Att, 120 yards, 4 TD
    D. Bass 9 Rec, 139 yards
    B. Tremblay 8 Rec, 157 yards, TD
    A. Samuel 6 Tackle, 5 TFL, 1 FR
    O. Vernon 5 Tackle, TFL, 1 Sack, 1 Safety
Defense had a total of: 1 Safety, 4 FF, 4 FR, 2 Sacks

    #2 USC 44
    #12 Notre Dame 7

"USC opened the season agaisnt Notre Dame once again but this time the game was not even close. The defense dominated all day and was energized early by an INT from True Freshman SS Washington. USC then dominated on the ground all day with standout HB Vickers leading the team with 136 YDs rushing and 3 TDs. Freshman QB also had a big day connected on a long TD pass to another true freshman in TE Kelly. Stanley also had a huge 68 yard TD run showing off his dual threat ability. USC gets the big win and heads to alabama next week to try and get revenge for last years thrashing.

HB Vickers 34 Atts, 136 YDs, 3 TDs
HB Baxter 12 Atts, 42 YDS

QB Stanley7/14, 165 YDS, TD, INT, 106 YDs rushing, TD.

    UCLA - 41
    Air Force - 3

UCLA's defense seems vastly improved as they stopped most of what Air Force had in store for them (which wasn't a whole lot). However, they still managed to eek out a 100 yard rushing day with their freshman RB. SR SS Stan McKay is going to a beast this season as he made many impact plays throughout. UCLA had a fairly okay offensive day with Byron Bray (2nd Team Pre-season All American QB) only going for 200+ yards passing on the day. The offense seemed rusty, but still managed to make some progress. If I can get anything from this game, it is that my WRs are ridiculous (all are VERY fast). Freshman WR and #1 in last year's recruiting class Mike Schroeder had his first TD of his collegiate career and showed he will be catching many more.

Running game still looks to be a problem, but combined, both HBs (Humphrey and Barr) managed near 100 yards on the day.

Virginia Tech's offense looked quite strong today, despite a number of question marks. Freshman QB Marquis Weber threw for 562 yards and 7 TDs with a completion percentage above 60%. He did make 2 big mistakes that hurt quite badly, but that is to be expected of a Freshman. Receivers DJ Coles and Brent Cameron stepped up to fill Boyles spot. They both made some very big plays that helped the Tech offense move along.

The defense played pretty awful. The only bright spots were the impressive play of defense backs Terry and Dew. The Tech offense will need to cut down on mistakes and the defense will need to pick it up if they hope to have a shot at playing in the ACC championship this season.

QB Bennet was an impressive 19/22 331yds 4 TD and 68yds 2 TD on the ground in his Duck starting debut. RB's Seastrunk and Williams combined for 199yds 2 TD. WR Huff had 172yds 2 TD rcieving. The Oregon defense caused 3 TO's and recorded 4 sacks. The Ducks travel to Georgia for their first test of the season.

With Kevin Newsome in the NFL the role of QB fell to R-JR Robert Bolden. The Nittany Lions did not change up the playbook with the new QB but the type of plays they ran did change. The offense focused more on the ground attack and Bolden only attempted 8 passes in the game. He completed 6 of those passes for 125 yards. The running game was where Penn State dominated the smaller Ohio Bobcats. Curtis Dukes and Kyle Goss split carries and each rushed for over 70 yards with a TD. Silas Redd also hit the 70-yard mark when he came in late and broke a 55-yard TD. On defense Penn State dominated Ohio. The big play by the defense came in the third quarter when Brian Nichols picked off a pass and returned it for a score. Things get much tougher for Penn State as they have upcoming games against LSU and Virginia Tech.

Offensive Player of the Game: Curtis Dukes 12 carries 78 yards 1 TD; 2 receptions 50 yards

Defensive Player of the Game: Khairi Fortt 9 tackles (8 solo, 1 atk) 1 tackle for a loss 1 sack

    First Quarter
03:01 TD Penn State Curtis Dukes HB #26 8 yard rush
    Second Quarter
06:29 TD Penn State Kyle Goss HB #31 7 yard rush
01:05 TD Penn State Robert Bolden QB #16 3 yard rush
    Third Quarter
05:50 FG Penn State Jeremy Harrell K #5 52 yard field goal
03:31 TD Penn State Brian Nichols FS #38 62 yard interception
    Forth Quarter
03:42 TD Penn State Silas Redd HB #25 55 yard rush
00:21 FG Penn State Jeremy Harrell K #5 43 yard field goal

Clemson and Georgia renewed their rivalry for the first time in years and the result was a beatdown in Athens. The young Bulldog defense, starting only 3 upperclassmen, held Clemson to only 6 points, which were picked up in garbage time. QB Murray was 14-19 for 238 yards and 3 TD. Freshman Nick Cole scored his first TD at HB.

"Over the Hill"Toppers; #14 LSU pounds Western Kentucky

The season could not have started better for LSU. Josh Joseph opened the Tiger's season with a 97 yard kick return TD. On the ensuing kickoff, WKU fumbles and Matt McDaniel took a zone read pull 23 yards TD to get LSU a 14-0 start to the season. LSU forced a punt and drove down the field riding Mark Ford who punched in a 3 yard run. Ford punched in another run in the second quarterto make it 28-0

Then Matt McDaniel struck through the air on TD passes of 31 and 34 yards. LSU went into the half with a commanding 42-0 lead. WKU showed signs of life stopping the Tiger and capitalizing on 2 turnovers and putting 14 points on the board. McDaniel added the final score for LSU in the third quarted on a 20 yard pass and the Tigers took home a 49-14 victory.

Coach dukebball623 was very happy about the win "Its great to get that first one out of the way. I am proud of how are kids played. We need to improve without a doubt, however this was a great first win for our kids and this staff. UCLA will be a very difficult test next."

LSU out gained the Hilltoppers 382-95 yards. The LSU defense showed thier teeth only yielding 22 yards of rushing to WKU. McDaniel led the way passing going 11-22 for 165 yards and 3 TDs. Mark Ford led the Tigers rushing attack with 111 yards on 19 attemps for 2 TDs. Tharold Simon caught 2 TDs on 2 catches for 51 total yards.

The Tigers play 1-0 UCLA next week at home.

Denard Robinson was knocked from the game and Devin Gardner, last years starter, took over and led the to offense to an efficient remaining three quarters.
