    #23 Virginia Tech - 34
    #4 Penn State - 27

Virginia Tech dashes the Nittany Lions' title hopes with a thriller in Blacksburg

This game was tight all the way through.

The game started off with Tech QB Weber throwing 2 INTs. PSU was only able to capitalize on the first one. Getting a stop after the second one was huge for the Hokies. It looked as though the Freshman QB was having a tough time dealing with the pressure. On the next drive, however, he orchestrated a great drive that lead to a TD. Penn State wasn't done though, as Robert Bolden took an option keeper to the house on the ensuing play. Both teams traded blows for a while, scoring on pretty much all of their possessions. However, things got interesting at the end of the half. Penn State scored on a screen pass with 1:28 left to play. The Hokies tried to get a score in before the half, but ended up punting the ball away on 4th down. PSU called time out to stop the clock and force a punt. However, QB Bolden decided to force a deep ball and get a quick score and this was picked off. The Hokies ended up getting the ball into field goal range and tacked on 3 points as time expired.

The second half did not have nearly as much scoring. Penn State used it's ground game a lot more and milked time off the clock. Both teams got some stops after they made some good half time adjustments. Both teams moved the ball fairly well, but they just couldn't manage to put points up. Penn State drew first blood in the half with a FG. The Hokies rallied back with another TD to take a 4 point lead, and then got a FG later to increase the lead to a TD. Virginia Tech got a stop and ended up getting the ball back with a little over 4 minutes. They were able to put together a very solid drive in which they chewed A LOT of clock before they had to punt. The away team took the field with limited time on the clock. The atmosphere in Lane Stadium was absolutely insane. What would happen? Penn State would drive down the field with relative ease, but then they got to the red zone and things got hairy. In the blink of an eye, it was 4th and goal from about the 10. Bolden ended up throwing a pick, allowing Virginia Tech to run out the clock and complete the upset.

    A very good game!

    #5 Michigan 17
    #3 Florida State 20

This was a tight game between a pair of top 5 ranked schools. Both teams felt each other out in the first quarter and neither was able to get on the board. The Seminoles opened the scoring early in the 2nd when QB Scott Jones caught the Wolverines in a blitz. He audibled out of the run and hit a wide open TE Alex Wilson for a 41 yard TD pass. Michigan would answer right back. Michigan QB Gardner would hit WR Garrison for a 17 yard TD pass. Right before half, FR K Andy Anthony would kick a FG as time expired to put FSU up 10-7.

Michigan would add a FG of their own in the 3rd to tie the game up going into the 4th quarter. Brennan Marks would give FSU the lead early in the 4th when he added a 2 yard TD run. And as they had done all game, Michigan would answer back on their very next possession. Garner would execute a perfect play action pass and hit a wide open WR Gallon for a 74 yard TD bomb. Seminole R-FR Ryan Clark was beat bad on this play. He got caught cheating on the run fake. Michigan's D was up to the task on the next possession. FSU would go 3 and out after Marks would come up inches short on a 3rd down run. The Wolverines had their chance. They too would go 3 and out. On 3rd and 7 they called a WR screen, but FS Clark would make up for his earlier mistake and stop the Wolverines inches short of a first down as well. This left just over a minute on the clock. Scott Jones lead the Seminoles on a great drive. He hit on a several short throws before getting us down to the 24 yard line. With 4 seconds left, Andy Anthony got his first taste of big-time college football. Big Suge decided to ice the freshman kicker. This was the first time I had seen the ice the kicker feature, and it is not easy to hit a FG like this. Andy drilled the GW 41 yard FG as time expired, sealing the win for FSU.

    Great Game Big Suge!

Great game Ceewo. Wasnt sure about that bubble screen but I figured it was the best shot because I had not realized Gardner was out of the game which I assume happened on the TD throw. My story did not save to Dynasty Wire but after the throw the Broadcast angle shows him laying on the ground. Good game for I think the second or third year in a row.

    #8 Oregon 34
    #6 Georgia 28

The Oregon rushing game was too much for the young Georgia defense in this one. The Ducks ran up 229 rushing yards, mostly by way of the option. Oregon only passed 15 times, but 4 of those went for TDs. Oregon's defense was able to create 2 turnovers on interceptions. This game was not as close as the score, as Georgia scored a TD with 30 seconds remaining. Good game Hokie.

Thanks bsta, take away those 2 turnovers and this game goes to the wire. Looks like all the user games have been close. Can't wait to see the outcome of the big #1 vs #2 matchup between USC and Bama...

    UCLA - 23
    #12 LSU - 20

In a week full of nail biters this one was no different as UCLA sneaks by in a close one against #12 LSU. Byron Bray went 300+ and a TD, while the rushing attack of the Bruins awkwardly tried to control the clock.

This game was very defensive with a huge TO for both teams that went for TDs. However, UCLA's WRs really won them the game as they were finding themselves open and/or holding on to the ball during difficult catches. The Bruins' defense somehow help up pretty well and played far better than their age.

LSU played very well but could not get their offense going as wanted and the tigers were held to many punting situations. LSU did exploit a major weakness in UCLA, their D-line. The tigers did very well on the rushing attack.

The game came down to an onside kick at the end after a late LSU TD. However, it was to no avail.

UCLA has no moved up to #23 in the polls and looks to continue their momentum with their young/inexperienced squad in the weeks to come.

    Great game, LSU!

Thanks for the great game Kzoo. UCLA has a great secondary with LBs who can defend the pass. Too many mistakes and turnovers to win this game. Good luck the rest of the way KZoo.
