Irish trample rival Boston College, but lose senior WR Davarus Daniels for the season
Senior WR Davaris Daniels scores on a 52 yard pass from Reggie Williams shortly before tearing his pectoral muscle which will sideline him for the remainder of the season.
Chestnut Hill, MA -- The Irish won their final game of the season this afternoon trampling the Boston College Eagles 38-7. Irish QB Reggie Williams had a great game going 10 for 16 with 261 yards and 3 touchdowns. Running back George Atkinson rushed for 110 yards and 1 touchdown on 22 carries. HB Frank Pierre had 21 yards on 6 carries.

Despite total dominance on both sides of the ball, the Irish weren't able to smile after the game learning that Senior wide receiver Davarus Daniels is lost for the upcoming bowl game after suffering an abdominal tear late in the third quarter. Coach Kelly had this to say after the game. "It's unfortunate that Davarus won't be able to play in the bowl. However, he will travel with the team wherever we go and I have confidence will influence and inspire the guys to play well."

The Fighting Irish now wait to see what their bowl fate will be this season.

    Iowa Wins in Overtime
    #15 Penn State 24
    #9 Iowa 31
After falling behind 10-0 to the Nittany Lions on a Iowa fumble by HB Bo Keller that was returned for a TD, the Hawkeyes looked to be in for a long game. That was the case as the Penn State defense shut down the Iowa offense and forced 3 turnovers in the first half, but only managed to score 10 points off of those. Iowa would get on the board in the second quarter with a FG to cut the lead to 7 going into halftime.
Adjustments were made by the coaches and they proved to be the right ones. Keller came out and dominated the second half behind his offensive line as he scored from 56 yards and 18 yards respectively on his way to 228 yards rushing for the game. Iowa would score 14 points in the third quarter and take 17-10 lead into the fourth quarter. The Nittany Lions answered midway into the fourth on a 8 yard QB Paul Jones scamper to tie the game at 17-17 with 4:40 left. Iowa seemingly put the game away with 1:30 on Keller's 18 yard TD run and a 24-17 lead. The Iowa defense put it to Penn State on the next drive until fourth and long where Jones hit WR Bill Belton on a crossing route and might have got a little pick in there, but, Belton made a good move and raced 81 yards for the tying TD with 1:01 left in the game.
Niether team made anything out of their next possessions and went into overtime with Iowa in shock and Penn State with all the momentum including winning the coin toss and putting the Iowa offense on the field. The Hawkeyes answered on the first play with a 17 yard Keller run that set up the go ahead score 2 plays later, a 5 yard slant from QB Adam Reese to WR Blake Haluska that put Iowa up 31-24. The Hawkeye defense came out and sacked Penn State on third and fourth down to preserve the win.
Player of the game would normally go to HB Bo Keller for his dominating 2nd half performance, but, RS SR DT Mike Hardy had a career day posting 10 tackles, 5 sacks, and 5 TFL while leading the defense to 9 total sacks on the day.

    #4 Michigan 0
    #2 Ohio St 31

The Silver Bullet defense was all over the field all game, as the Buckeyes held the Wolverines scoreless for the first time in recent memory. The game started out as a slugfest, with Ohio St only leading 3-0 with short time left in the first half, when Michigan's QB threw a pick-6 to CB Bolden that stemmed the tide of the game. Michigan's offensive line was deflated after that play and proceeded not to block anyone for the rest of the game. The Buckeyes capitalized on a couple big 3rd down pass plays to extend the lead in the third quarter.

The teams will meet again in the B1G championship for the second time in three years.
