Penn St Offense Explodes After Disappointing Week 1
    Purdue ( CPU )- 29
    at
    #14 Penn St ( dj illmatic 23 )- 45
The Penn St Nittany Lions bounced back from a terrible week one showing, and dominated the Purdue Boilermakers from start to finish with a 45-29 victory. PSU got things started when HB Bill Belton scored from 3 yards out for a 7-0 lead. The Nittany Lions would then add a FG on their next possession. The biggest play of the first half came when QB Paul Jones hit WR Eugene Lewis with a 39 yard TD pass to give Penn St a 17-0 lead. While the Nittany Lions worked out the kinks in their offense, the PSU defense continued their great play from week one. PSU harrassed Purdue's QB all day racking up 8 sacks along the way. Their strong play helped stake the Nittany Lions to a 17-0 half time lead.
The second half started the same way the first half ended with PSU marching down the field. However, an errant pitch by QB Paul Jones on an option play was scooped up by Purdue FS EJ Johnson and returned 53 yards for the TD. Any life the Boilermakers gained with this TD was quickly extinguished as PSU marched back down the field and scored on a 3 yard TD run by HB Nick Manning. Jones would then hit WR Matt Zanellato with a 39 yard TD to extend the lead further. PSU would put their second string players in for the fourth quarter in order to gain them some experience. Purdue would take advantage of the second team defense to score the first offensive TD on a 1 yard TD run by HB Trey Grimes. PSU's second string would answer the bell as QB Rob Bolden hit FB Zach Zwinack for a 64 yard TD on a play action pass. Purdue QB Austin Appleby would conncect on two TD passes, a 7 yard pass to WR Shane Mikesky and a 44 yard TD to WR Raheem Mostert, to pull to within 38-29 late in the game. Nittany Lions QB Bolden would add a late TD on an option keeper to make the score 45-29. The win moves the Nittany Lions to 2-0 and 1-0 in the Big 10 on the season. They travel to #25 Virginia next week for a big showdown.
    Offensive Player of the Game
    Penn St QB Paul Jones

Nw was trying out new playbooks on both sides today. Defense was great obviously with the shutout. Offense sputtered at times but still put up plenty of points. Coach juggs is a little weery of going to Colorado next week still unfamiliar with the offensive pb

Freshman (RS) QB Fields plays much better in week 2 after a rough start last week to a very good Colorado team. Questions were beginning to surface whether he would be benched if he came out flat again but he really showed up ready to play this week. Fields threw for 350 yards 5 TD's and 2 INT's. He tried to force some things at time but that was just a young player trying to make a play, and not staying within the offense. We will work on that going forward. Despite Arizona out gaining our us by over 100 yards on offense, we hit enough big plays in the passing game to out score them.
The play of the game came with under 1 minute to play and we were up by only 8. Arizona had the ball 1st and goal and threw a quick pass to the TE who was destroyed by MLB Henry Coley and our SS Anthony Harris returned it 95 yards for a TD to ice the game. The defense was shaky and lacked focused most of the game but I have to give them credit for coming up with big plays when we needed it the most.
Next week we welcome Penn St. to town as we look to add our second win of the year.
Sidenote: We have to establish the run more consistently or it will be a long season..

Bradon Allen Throw for 590 yards and Arkansas Wins in Offensive Explosion by Both Teams
    week 2 game review.PNG

In what can only be explained as the high-flying speed of the SEC, meets the high flying speed of Cal - this game was one for the record books. In fact, many records were re-written due to this game. The fans in Fayetteville were treated to a passing clinic put on by their very own Bradon Allen who broke the single game passing record for Arkansas. He was unstoppable at home and poor Cal's defense was no match. The Golden Bear's safeties will be running laps for days after giving up long ball, after long ball including the gamer winning 80 yard hail mary while time expired to give the Razorbacks the win. The Razorback scored 14 points in the last 42 seconds to escape with the victory.

Kyle Boehm, for Cal, has been benched in favor of the speedy Derrick Brown. With two early losses to start the season the Golden Bears will make some slight modifications before heading into Pac 12 play next week. Thankfully, the conference play will give new life to a team that came out on the wrong end of the stick this week. Coach Fmode has spoken to his team about the change at QB and has his team fired up and ready to face Arizona, who comes in 0-2, but only by losing by 1 score to both Penn State (dj illmatic 23) and Virginia (Will Atkinson).

Maryland opened the season this year on the road in the Big House. A huge stage for Freshman QB Tony Montana playing in front of a sold out Ann Arbor crowd. The rookie would show poise in his first start making big plays all over the field throwing for 3 TDs connecting with WR Burns twice for 2 long bombs. Montana only had 1 INT on the day and looked great running the Maryland offense. He only missed on 3 passes for the game! HB Pickett was very solid as well rushing for over 100 yards and scoring once. Maryland home opener will be played next week vs rival WVU. Let's see if Montana can make a good impression on the home town fans.

QB Montana 15/18 258 YDS, 3 TDs, INT
HB Pickett 31 Carries, 121 YDS, TD
WR Diggs 6 Rec, 73 YDS, TD

Today was Marquise Williams day, as he decided to put hisself on the national radar with his perfomance. Williams was 25-31 for 269 yards and 4 TD's. He also added 6 carries for 124 yards and a TD. Romar Morris added 13 carries for 60 yards. TJ Thorp had 7 catches for 90 yards, Reggie Wilkins had 4 receptions for 58 yards and 2 TDs, and Zach Merrick had 4 receptions for 48 yards and a TD. Defensively the Cougars had their way with the Tar Heel DB's as they were torched to the tune of 483 yards passing.

North Carolina will look to fix that within the confines of Kinnick Stadium when UNC takes on Iowa.

The Sun Devils picked up a big victory in front of the home fans. Unfortunately, Gyrene76 was unable to play due to internet issues. Georgia Tech was unable to sustain much on offense with the triple option attack, rushing for only 70 yards. The Sun Devils had 300 yards of offense behind a balanced effort.

HovaTheGodMC We are ready to advance.

Maryland hosted WVU today in it's home opener for the season. The game was pretty much dominated by the Terp froms the second QTR on putting up 431 total yards on the day. QB Montana started out bad with a pick 6 but was very solid the rest of the day throwing for ever 250 yards and 2 TDs. The Terps got back to a dominate run game this week with HB Pickett rushing for 168 YDS and 3 scores. On defense we caused one turnover on a fumble and sacked the QB 5 times. 3 of those were from SR DT Walker. Maryland is now 2-0 and has a huge matchup next week vs Washington at home.

QB Montana 198 Rating, 13/20 262 YDS, 2 TDs, INT
HB Pickett 28 Carries, 168 YDS, 3 TDs
WR Diggs 4 Rec, 122 YDS, TD

DT Walker 4 Tackles, 3 Sacks
