LEGACY WEEK 5 GAME OF THE WEEK

2 top 10 teams collide in College Station

    [IMG] at [IMG]

Maryland comes into this game on a high after beating down a tough Washington Huskies squad 27-3. They are 3-0 on this young season. Maryland is led by QB Tony Montana and RB justice Pickett. Montana passed for 139 yards and 1td last week while Pickett ran for 83 yards. They possess a very stingy defense that's led by MLB LA Goree and SS Matt Robinson. they have been creating a mess for the opposing teams offense.

Penn State comes into this game 2-0. They had a bye week last week but 2 weeks ago defeated a very tough Purdue team 45-29. Penn State is led by QB Paul Jones and RB Bill Belton. 2 weeks ago Jones passed for 260 yards and 2 td's while Belton ran for 101 yards and 1 td. On defense Penn State is led by FS Adrian Amos CB Devon Pryer and DE Kyle Baublitz. Maryland has to find a way to contain this SR DE as he had 4 sacks in his last game.

This is a battle of 2 Top 10 teams with good coaching. Which coach will make the right calls on the defensive side of the ball. We here at GMONEY TV expect a low scoring game. We brought in 2 guests from the ESPN Studio who have thoughts about this game. Mark May and Lou Holtz. Let's see what there predictions are.

Mark May: "Penn State will win this game by 7. They have an experienced coach in dj illmatic 23 as well as 92000 strong at State College where the noise level will be off the chain. i expect Penn State to feed off the crowd and cruise to an 21-7 victory and move to 3-0 on the season. What about you Coach Holtz, do you agree with me?"

Lou Holtz: " There you go again Mark. What in the tarnation are you talking about? Maryland and coach HovaTheGodMC has been playing lights out football to go to 3-0 on the young season. I expect this team to go into State College and continue there winning ways as there defense will set the tone for the game and there offense will play mistake free football. I expect Maryland to come out on top 17-10"

Well get yourself a good seat for this one as it will be a dandy. Brent Mustberger and Bob Griese will call the game from College Station for ESPN Saturday 8pm EST, 7pm CST. J,Lo The Big Booty Hoe will be on loan from GMONEY TV to be the sideline reporter for ESPN during the game. She will be covering the Maryland sidelines and Special Guest Halle Berry will be covering the Penn State sidelines.

    The Half Everything Changed
This game was not for the faint of heart. The atmosphere saturated the teams with electricity, as these two bitter rivals met on a rainy field, under the night Atlanta skyline. The Georgia Tech faithful booed as the head coach's name was called on the PA System. A sign of the growing discontent with the way this season has started. An abysmal 0-3 start demoralized the fan base and embarrassed leaders of this team. This made for a great setting for the nine recruits they flew in to watch the game.
Virginia Tech came into to tonight's game 3-0 and ready to beat down the already low Yellow Jackets. And they did just that for the first half. The lethargy and lack of confidence was evident as the Hokies went into half time with a 24-7 lead. All signs pointed to an 0-4 start.
Then the half that everything changed. The Senior Middle Linebacker QuayShawn Nealy gave an inspiring speech that challenged the manhood and pride of each individual in the locker room. You could see it in their eyes - they were done being sorry.
Georgia Tech came out and fought tooth and nail to tie the game up in the 4th quarter, overcoming a 17 point deficit.
Then things got interesting. - 'five overtimes interesting'. After five overtimes, the Yellow Jacket defense finally forced the first field goal of overtime series. There was blood in the water, and the black and gold's offense responded with a big score to make an unbelievable comeback.
Coach Gyrene said, "The game wasn't pretty, but he was honored to be able to coach such a resilient group of young men. Never count them out unless you want burned."
Georgia Tech is now 1-3 on the season, but 1-0 in conference play. There is still hope after this win.

Despite adding our 3rd loss of the year, I feel we are finally making some strides on the offensive side of the ball. This team is lead by a Freshman QB so we could only expect a drop off after the past two years but he has already improved so much since Week 1 against Colorado where he looked like a lost puppy. He is beginning to make more big time throws under pressure, and that was the case this week against a FAST Sooner defense. The play of HB Kevin Parks was finally able to show the burst that we all knew he had watching him in practice every week. Once we get into conference play I would really like to make Kevin Parks a threat that has to be accounted for on every play to take some pressure off of QB Carl Fields.
The defense had their hands full against the Sooners this past week. The Sooners had a very big mobile QB who not only had big third down runs but was huge in third and long passing the ball. Our defense did make some big plays that gave us a shot to win in the end, including a 56 yard INT return for a TD that tied the game up heading into the 4th quarter.
We really need to rattle off some wins in the ACC in the coming weeks to help out with recruiting. Next week we will host Boston College in a game that we really need to come out and jump on the Eagles early. If we want to make a run at another ACC title game, it starts next week.

This game was all offense from start to finish, at least for the tart of the second quarter. The Trojans went blow for blow with the Huskies in the first half, effortlessly driving and scoring on every possession. With the score 38-27 at the end of the third quarter USC make things interesting to stay the least.Un able to cause a turnover the entire game the huskies had to take to the air to mount their unprobable come back. In the fourth, with the score 48-38, with 1:07 remaining on the clock, Cyler Miles connected with Diandre Campbell on a 81 yard bomb to come within three points. On the next drive the Trojans failed to convert third down giving Washington a shot at glory and Miles came through with a clutch throw to Campbell once again.

Terps Kicker Kicks Maryland In the Ass
    [IMG][IMG]
    #6 Maryland ( HovaTheGodMC )- 7
    at
    #5 Penn St ( dj illmatic 23 )- 17
In a battle of top ten teams, defense carried the day as the Penn St Nittany Lions defeated the Maryland Terrapins 17-7. Maryland came into the game on a roll, having shut out the Washington Huskies the previous week. However, they could not get anything going offensively all day versus the stingy defense of the Nittany Lions. Both teams traded punts for most of the first quarter until Penn St finally put together a drive. They capped it off with a 3 yard TD run by QB Paul Jones on an option read. The Terps would strike early in the second with their only bright spot of the day when QB Tony Montana hit WR Stefon Diggs for a 52 yard TD. The game would be tied for a short time only though as PSU QB Paul Jones hit WR Eugene Lewis for a 53 yard TD 31 seconds later.
Despite the explosive fireworks to start the second quarter, the rest of the game would be a defensive struggle. Maryland would put a couple of drives together, but they would stall around the 30 yard line of the Nittany Lions. Maryland's kicker would miss both FG attempts and leave the Terps empty handed despite their impressive drives. PSU would tack on a FG early in the fourth to make it a two score game. It looked like the tide may turn for Maryland when on 3rd and 17 a pass by Montana was almost intercepted by a Nittany Lions player. However, he juggled the ball. Right before the ball hit the ground WR Diggs came diving out of nowhere to make the catch for the first down. Despite this amazing play, Penn St remained composed and would not let Maryland sniff the endzone. The win moves the Nittany Lions to 4-0 on the season. They travel to Minnesota next week to on the Golden Gophers in a B1G game. With their first loss of the season, Maryland falls to 3-1. They travel to Miami to take on the Hurricanes next week.
    Offensive Player of the Game
    Penn St WR Eugene Lewis
    2 catches/ 59 yards/ 2 TD's
    Defensive Player of the Game
    Penn St CB Bryan Fraser
    4 tackles/ 1 interception

The Sun Devil defense continued to play above their rankings and forced 3 Bruin turnovers en route to another conference win at home. The offense played another turnover free game, but had to settle for 3 FGs in the red zone. RS Sr QB Mike Bercovici was 15-20 for 156 yards and a TD. RS So HB DJ Foster carried 19 times for 88 yards and a TD. The win sets up a huge conference game next week against Colorado in Boulder. Both teams should carry a ranking into the game and there are early whispers Gameday may be making an appearance.

Everybody has the green light, except Gngsta4Lyphe. He had a bye this week, so I don't know if he's done or not.

    Cal Blanks the Beavers

Daniel Lasco continues his stellar early season with 202 yards on 33 carries being the workhorse for the Golden Bear offense. But don't sleep on the Golden Bears passing game as Boehm threw for 3 touchdowns on 10/17 passing and 154 yards. This Golden Bear team has come full circle since a couple early season heart breaking defeats. Coach Fmode has his team playing very strong with a huge a user match-up this week against Washington, the back-to-back national champions.

This Cal defense though is something teams should be now concerned with. Coach Fmode has changed from his early strategy, and now has an aggressive defense that sacked Oregon State 6 times, while also picking of two passes. Oregon State had 66 total yards and did not complete 1 third down, going 0/9. This might be a season record (potentially a Legacy league record).

Let this be notice. Star linebackers Jason Gibson and Dave Wilkerson combined for 10 tackles and 3 sacks. These two have been an early force and look to put their stamp on the Pac 12.

    Games Balls:

    Offense
    Daniel Lasco
    rushing - 33 att 202 yds

    Defense
    Jason Gibson
    6 tackles 2 sacks
