LEGACY WEEK 8 GAME OF THE WEEK

The 20th ranked North Carolina Tar Hells will be making the trip down 1-95 South to Scott stadium in Charlottesville Virginia to take on the Virginia Cavaliers in the week 8 Legacy game of the week. North Carolina had a bye week last week and suffered their first loss of the season in week 6 losing to Georgia Tech 28-25. The Tar Heels are led by Marquise Williams. He has been playing some near perfect football for North Carolina as he has 17td's and only 2 ints on the entire season. His favorite target is SR WR TJ Thorpe who has 459 yards receiving and 6td's. On defense they are led by SR OLB Travis Hughes who is the teams leading tackler. SR CB Tim Scott leads the Tar Heels with 2 ints o the season. Coach gwill is going into this game thinking it's a must win game to keep the Tar Heels on pace to win the ACC Coastal Division and advance to the ACC Championship game.
Virginia comes in this game on a high. They just broke a 3 game losing streak by upsetting #5 Clemson 27-20 in a hard fought game. That pleased their coach Will Atkinson Virginia is led by FR RS QB Carl Fields. Carl had thrown for over 1300 yards with 11 td's as well as 11 ints. His favorite target is SR WR Dominique Terrell who has 29 receptions for 573 yards and 2 td's. Kevin Parks has rushed for 394 yards and 2 td's. DaQuan Romero is the leading tackler on the team and Drequan Hoskey leads Virginia with 2 picks.
We have 2 special guests to give us their predictions for the game. Mark May and Lou Holtz. Let's see what their predictions are.
Mark May: " Well this is a no brainer. North Carolina still has a great chance to win the ACC Coastal and get a shot to play for the ACC Title and a BCS berth while Virginia is struggling to even make a bowl game.marquise Williams will have a field day against Virginia and this game isn't even going to be close. 31-17 Tar Heels. Now top that Lou."
Lou Holtz: " Dam Mark. Did your Momma drop you on the head too many times when you were a toddler? Virginia has a couple of very close games this season and their record is misleading to say the least. Then on top of all that they just went to Death Valley and upset the #5 team in the country. the fans this weekend in Scott Stadium will be going crazy just to see if these pesky Cavaliers can upset 2 ranked teams in as many weeks. I think if they feed off of their crowd the will be primed and ready to pull off their 2nd consecutive shocker. Virginia wins in a thriller 24-21."
Well get yourself a good seat for this one as it will be a great game to watch. Brent Mustberger and Bob Griese will call the game from Scott Stadium for ESPN Saturday 8pm EST, 7pm CST. ESPN will have a very special guests reporting the sidelines for the telecast. Actress Sandra Bullock, a Virginia native and will be covering the Cavaliers sidelines and Special Guest reporter and North Carolina native Tori Amos will be covering the Tar Heels sideline.

    Nail Biter in Atlanta
The UCLA Bruins all the way across the country, to meet the Yellow Jackets in Atlanta for a non-conference game. Both teams, with a .500 record looking to finally go up one in the win column.
On the first play of the game, the Yellow Jacket defense delivered a crushing blow to the Bruin running back dislodging the ball and giving Georgia Tech great field position. But the Bruin defense stiffented their back and stopped 3 straight runs from the 3 yard line to force a field goal.
The Bruins then scored 14 unanswered points with only 32 seconds left in the half. All-American quarterback Day, threw a beautiful out route causing the defender to miss the tackle and score a big touchdown. At the half Bruins led 14-10.
The Yellow Jacket offense scored the only touchdown of the second half in the third quarter, as both teams exchanged field goals. The Final = Georgia Tech 20 / UCLA = 17
Georgia Tech entered the game ranked (#22) for the first time since losing 3 straight to start the season.

Cavaliers Capitalize on Mistakes and Shock the Tarheels
After a impressive road win against then #5 Clemson, the Cavaliers returned home to play a UNC team that could erase all good from a week ago. Coach gwill had his Tarheels coming in at (5-1) and #18 in the nation. An early defensive battle would prove to be the case in the first quarter as neither offense was able to score. The only score of the 1st was a 73 yard fumble return by UVA DT All American Marco Jones. This really shot the momentum in favor of the Cavaliers and they never looked back. The Tarheels added a 50 yard FG to cut the lead to 7-3 early in the 2nd but we were able to rattle off 24 unanswered after that and secured a big inner-conference win.
There were two obvious stats that lead to a good win, 0 turnovers and holding UNC to only 28 yards rushing. Our own ability to run the ball allowed for a much easier time trying to play-call against a great team in UNC. I was very impressed with the way our team handled prosperity after the Clemson win, and I hope we can continue to do that as we have another huge test next week as we welcome in the Coach HovaTheGodMC and his Terrapins.

This was honestly the first ever NCAA user game I've ever played where I felt like it wasn't meant for me to win at all.

That's pretty one sided user game. I would have liked to watch it streaming or something. The Cavaliers were just tired of losing! Will Atkinson must have had a blanker party with his players. :)

I guess. It seemed like this one had North Carolina loss no matter what I did. After the 1st drive ended, this game went to hell in a handbasket.

Penn St Rolls Indiana Behind Two Scoring Surges
    #1 Penn St ( dj illmatic 23 )- 38
    at
    Indiana ( CPU )- 17
The top ranked Penn St Nittany Lions continued to roll through their schedule as they defeated the Indiana Hoosiers 38-17. PSU came out on fire, and marched down the field to set up a 1 yard TD run by FB Brian Fields. The Hoosiers would answer back with an impressive drive that looked certain to end in points. However, PSU CB Jesse Della Valle intercepted a pass and returned it 94 yards for a TD and a 14-0 lead. This seemed to take all of the fight out of Indiana as their offense sputtered the next few possessions. The Nittany Lions drove down the field again, but settled for a FG. Despite only coming away with 3 points, Penn St seemed to be in firm control of the game and on their way to a blow out win.
After the second quarter FG, the Hoosiers came alive. They marched down the field, but when PSU forced them to settle for a FG, it seemed as if the Nittany Lions were still in control. Disaster struck for PSU on their next play from scrimmage when QB Paul Jones was intercepted by CB Michael Hunter who returned it 32 yards for a TD. Despite dominating the half, this mistake left Penn St with only a 17-10 halftime lead.
Penn St would come out in the second half and continue to struggle on offense. The Hoosiers tied the game up when QB Cameron Coffman ran it in from 6 yards. At this point, the top ranked Nittany Lions seemed to be on the ropes. Indiana had ran off 17 straight points and their home crowd was going wild. PSU proved why their the top ranked team in the nation though. Their defense would not let Indiana see the scoreboard again. The offense answered back when HB Nick Manning ran 48 yards for a TD to retake the lead. Jones would then hit WR Alex Kenney for a 16 yard TD pass to take a 14 point lead. QB Paul Jones would finish off the Hoosiers when he ran it in from 29 yards out on an option read. The win moves the Nittany Lions to 7-0 and 3-0 in the B1G. They have a big showdown next week against the hated Buckeyes.
