My QB Bryan Bennett. Weird, he was not an AA and did not win any other awards, but won the Heisman. How was Baxter not even in the top 5?!?

    UCLA 45
    Baylor 7

Los Angeles, CA (AP) -- After the most preseason hype UCLA has had in recent memory, the Bruins finally hit the field and debuted their new system and staff vs the Baylor Bears. The Rose Bowl was rocking at kickoff. Baylor received to start the game and were forced to punt early, sending the crowd into a frenzy. The stands went quiet though as the Bruins unveiled their new offense. QB Lee Downing, RB Pierre Humphrey, and WR Mike Schroeder moved the ball right down the field but ended up 4th and goal on the 1. Coach Max was determined to start off on a strong note, but Humphrey was denied. It felt like someone had sucked the life out of the vaunted Rose Bowl. Baylor would get the ball back and go 99 yards for a score, raising even more eyebrows. The new coach had a "colorful" exchange with his offensive unit and they responded. The Bruins would go on to score 45 unanswered points, and the Defense also got the hint shutting out Baylor for the remainder of the game.

The #21 Bruins will stay ranked in the top 25 going into week 2 when they will host Michigan. No more cupcakes for UCLA from here on out.

Michigan kicks of the 2015 season with a 35 - 17 win over the UCF Knights. With the switch to a more pro-style run oriented game there were highs and lows on the offensive side of the ball. Behind an offensive line improved over the one that took the field a year ago, Michigan HBs, Hakim Taylor and Kevin Thomas, accumulated 103 yards on 24 carries and three scores. For Taylor the success he experienced in the first half will have to be put on hold as he suffered an undisclosed injury that will sideline him for 3 weeks. QB Alan Martin 14 of 20 pass attempts for 249 yards including a 70 yard score to WR Michael Mosby.

Defensively, Michigan racked up 8 tackles for a loss, including two by Junior transfer Xavier Vincent. Vincent also had a sack while his two interior defensive linemates, Terrence Smith and Ed Stephens, also added one. First year starter, Marcus Talley receovered two of the three fumbles recovered by Michigan in the game.

    Penn State 49
    BYU 10

This game started off slow for Nittany Lions' fans. BYU put together a long drive that led to a field goal. On their first drive of the game Penn State gave the ball right back to BYU on 3 plays. Things didn't really get started till midway through the second quarter. WR Brett Smith broke off his route and found some space. Ashton Sykes found Smith and the wideout did the rest of the work, going 52 yards for the TD. On the next drive it was again Sykes to Smith for a long TD, this one 70 yards. Penn State would add another TD just before half to go up 21-3. It seemed they had momentum going into the locker room but PSU returned the opening kicking off. BYU would get the ball into the endzone to close the lead to 21-10. From that point forward it was all Penn State. Sykes passed for his 3 50+ yard TD of this game, this time to CB Curtis Garrett. Garrett is starting on defense for Penn State but he is also seeing the field in some offensive formations. Lead HB Kyle Goss punched in a few short scores, finishing with 3 on the day. Smith also found the endzone again, this time on an end around from 54 yards out.

Smith was clearly the star of this game, he caught 3 passes for 164 yards and ran once for the 54-yard TD. Curtis Garrett also had a big day with 2 receptions for 73 yards on offense, and 2 tackles and an interception on defense. Sykes was also solid in his debut as starter, completing 12 of 19 passes for 381 yards and 3 TD. He completed passes to 7 different receivers with Smith leading the team with 3 receptions. On the BYU side the star of the game was Will Davis. The halfback got the ball 34 times and finished with 113 yards, including the lone BYU TD. He also caught 5 passes for 36 yards.

    Miami - 59

    ECU - 24

This game was complete dominance on both side of the ball by Miami except two drives in the 4th quarter where the Pirates managed to score. Young finally had a game without an interception as he passed for 340 yards and 4 TD's. He spread the ball around, completing passes to 9 different receivers. And FINALLY Miami has restored its running game as FB converted to HB Jason George took the handoff 18 times for 134 yards and 3 TD's. Even the second string managed a score off 13 handoffs and 59 yards. A nice way to start the season.

Miami starts off 1-0 before heading Northwest for a rematch in the Bayou.

    #5 LSU
    #19 Clemson

LSU got the season rolling with a pattened McDaniel comeback victory. The game started with an exchange of FGs. Next, a true freshman, J. Bowers caught a 24 yard TD. Clemson evened the score and the 1st quarter ended 10-10. Clemson then scored 13 unanswered points, before LSU answered with a TD before the half ended with a McDaniel strike to Smith. With LSU down 22-17, they needed a stop, Clemson scored a TD, and the Tigers looked to be in trouble. LSU looked to their RS Junior receiver Mitchell who caught 2 TD passes to bring the Tigers back into the game. Clemson again had an answer and went intothe 4th quarter up 43-32. Clemson made a critical error, fumbled near their goaline and Dingle scooped and scored to pull the Tigers within 4. With just 2:24 left Matt McDaniel threw Ingram a 4 yard pas to take a 3 yard lead and beat the Clemson Tigers. McDaniel was 21-41 with 436 yards and 5 TDs. Mitchell caught 6 passes for 221 yards and 2 TDs.
