I will post a full recap later but just one tidbit I wanted to post. In my game against Michigan State the Spartans had 0 first downs and 12 yards total offense. I have actually given up less yards in a game (T3 game against Indiana a few years back) but even they managed 1 first down.

    Penn State 54
    Michigan State 0

Either Penn State's defense was very good or the Michigan State offense was remarkably bad. The Spartans did not get a single first down in this game and gained just 14 yards of offense. Michigan State QB Dallas Heinz completed just 2 of 14 passes for 14 yards. This was partially due to Penn State's defense but some credit goes to Michigan State's receivers that continually dropped passes. On offense Penn State played with a short field on almost every drive. This led to several short touchdown runs by Kyle Goss. He punched in 5 touchdowns in this game, all within the 5 yard line. Penn State quarterback Ashton Sykes returned from injury and he was efficient in this game. He passed for 147 yards and scrambled a couple times for 44 yards. As expected the time of possession was one sided with Penn State controlling the ball for 20.5 minutes while Michigan State held the ball for 7.5.

The win gives Penn State just one game remaining in the regular season, a week 15 game against TCU. The Nittany Lions still have a shot at getting in the National Title game, even without winning the conference. Penn State is currently ranked #3 with the #1 and #2 teams likely to play in SEC Championship. USC also could jump Penn State in the rankings if they manage to defeat UCLA and Oregon.

    First Quarter
06:16 TD Penn State Kyle Goss HB #31 2 yard rush
04:00 TD Penn State Kyle Goss HB #31 1 yard rush
01:42 TD Penn State Jonathan Gray WR #83 13 yard pass from Ashton Sykes QB #13
00:06 TD Penn State Kyle Goss HB #31 2 yard rush
    Second Quarter
02:15 TD Penn State Kyle Goss HB #31 5 yard rush
00:19 TD Penn State Kyle Goss HB #31 2 yard rush
    Third Quarter
03:32 FG Penn State Jeremy Harrell K #5 52 yard field goal
    Forth Quarter
06:19 FG Penn State Jeremy Harrell K #5 37 yard field goal
04:16 FG Penn State Jeremy Harrell K #5 24 yard field goal
01:51 FG Penn State Jeremy Harrell K #5 48 yard field goal

    #25 Miami - 49

    Virginia - 38

    Canes avoid upset, rally late.

Miami would find themselves in a 24-7 hole against the team that always give them fits. Coach Masler said he was ready to throw a tantrum but kept his cool and lead his team to victory. He knew running the ball wasn't going to do much good in the situation they were in so he told Jamar Young to take the reins. He did just that as he lead Miami past the Cavs late in the 4th quarter. Even though Masler stated running the ball was near pointless, two rushing TD's were scored to fool the defense. Jamar Young became the NCAA All Time leader in Passing TD's today and Jason George broke 1,000 yards on the season, proving fullbacks can be good halfbacks. Darin O'Connor (TE) was a huge role, being wide open THREE times to help Miami to victory. QB Patrick Brooks was put in late in the game but not long enough to make an impact, he told the Coach he understood, giving the circumstances.

Coach Masler was caught in the locker room after the game: "Well we got into a bit of a sticky spot but managed to dig ourselves out of that hole and then keep the lead. The defense was very sluggish to start but came to play when it mattered most, forcing that fumble and recovering in the 4th was a huge boost to this teams morale."

Miami gains their 8th win of the season and will finish off vs JC and his Hawkeyes.

    Stats

    J. Young - 26/42, 472 yards, 5 TD

    J. George - 19 Att, 87 yards, TD

    D. O'Connor - 6 Rec, 135 yards, 3 TD
    B. Weber - 5 Rec, 106 yards, TD
    B. Tremblay - 2 Rec, 54 yards, TD

    A. Samuel - 7 Tackles
    A. Dowdell - 6 Tackles, 2 TFL, 2 Sacks
    D. McCoy - 8 Tackles, 3 Defl
    W. Neal - 4 Tackles, 2 TFL, FF
    M. Pierce - 3 Tackles, TFL, Sack, FR

Michigan already down to its backup QB Isaac Phillips are forced to pull JJ Randolph's redshirt when Phillips is lost for the game with a shoulder injury. Randolph came in to needing to make plays but with no game experience he struggled. Once Randolph settled into game action he lead a Wolverine comeback but they came up six points short when a potential game tying pass into the end zone was batted to the turf. Michigan falls to 6 - 6 overall with a final game against LSU left on the schedule.

I'll be rooting for Hokie and Ceewo in their games this week. The FSU games (Georgia and Alabama) likely won't mean much to my title chances because Bama/UGA will play each other, but I think Utah is still creeping around undefeated. They would probably jump to #2 if they win out.

Bruins Win: Hit 10 Game Mark
    38-22

Seattle, WA (AP) -- The #7 UCLA Bruins improve to 10-1 on the season, and remain undefeated in PAC-10 play by beating Washington. This win not only gives the Bruins double-digit wins on the year, it sets them up for what amounts to a PAC10 Championship game with rival USC.

This game stayed closer than it should have for the entire 1st half. The score would be 14-7 at halftime with UCLA on top. The Bruins rattled off 24 unanswered in the 2nd half, and the Huskies scored twice late in the 4th vs UCLA's backups.

The Bruins didnt get a single rushing TD for the second time this season since Pierre Humphrey suffered a season-ending injury, however, UCLA was able to rush for 135yd against the Huskies.

UCLA will have to put it all together one last time this season at home vs USC. Huge game at the Rose Bowl next week!

    #9 Florida State 21
    #2 Georgia 24

There were two deciding factors in this game. Georgia forced 2 turnovers and the Bulldog offense was 7 for 10 on 3rd down. The yardage gained was pretty even, with Georgia gaining 315 to FSU's 306. Most of FSU's offense came through the air, with their QB tossing for 238 yards and 2 TD. Georgia was balanced, with Jr HB Nick Cole running for 123 yards and a TD and Jr QB Zach Brown going 17-21 for 189 yards and 2 TD with no turnovers.

    Good game Ceewo.

    Oregon- 40
    USC- 36

Finally, the Ducks get their first win over USC, but you could tell this wasn't the same explosive USC team of seasons past. This game looked identical to previous meetings as Oregon took an early lead into halftime, but USC surges back to take the lead. With under a minute up by 3 USC has the ball and just needs to convert 1 more first down to win the ball game. On third down Oregon picks off Stanley, his lone mistake and most costly of the game. The Ducks would march down the field and score the go ahead TD with just 22 seconds remaining. With a USC win over UCLA their will be a 3 way tie for the Pac 10 title. GG Hova....
