Last season, this was a close battle with both teams putting up a lot of points. This year, the Hokies absolutely smashed the Yellow Jackets.

Hicks, Brown, and Freeman had respectable performances on offense.

Ryan, Terry, and Foster dominated on defense.

It's kind of crazy how much better my defense is this year than last year... That extra season of progression makes such a difference.

    Miami - 42

    #23 Clemson - 17

    Hurricanes win conference opener

After a slow first half ending in Clemson leading 17-7 the Hurricanes came out pumped up and forced a second half shutout while scoring 35 points of their own. Young was unbelievable in the second half with only one mistake but it didn't hurt the Canes. This mistake was a pick in the endzone but the defender chose to take it out of the endzone and got creamed by the TE, forcing the ball out and back into the hands on Young, redeeming himself. WR DeMarcus Bass was absolutely unstoppable today, with only one more catch than the rest of the team he almost hit 200 yards receiving. HB George also had a nice game with over 100 yards rushing and 3 touchdowns while catching a ball for another score.

Miami starts conference play on a good note by beating their first ranked opponent in ages, they are now 2-1 (1-0). The big Florida State matchup looms next week as the Canes are on the road again. Can Young finish his career with a win at Florida State? Tune in next week.

    J. Young - 25/44, 440 yards, 3 TD

    J. George - 17 Att, 125 yards, 3 TD, 2 Rec, 11 yards, TD

    D. Bass - 6 Rec, 176 yards, TD

    D. O'Connor - 5 Rec, 97 yards

    A. Samuel - 11 Tackles (8S, 3A), 4 TFL, 3 Sacks, FF

Overall defense recorded: 4 FF, 2 FR, 2 INT and 5 Sacks

    LSU 17

Kyle Goss had another big game and he helps Penn State defeat #4 LSU. He started off fast with a 49 yard rushing score to open up the game. LSU answered back with a passing TD from Mitchell to McDaniel. On the ensuing drive it was Goss again finding the endzone, breaking about 9 tackles on the 17 yard scamper. The teams would trade field goals to open the second quarter and then Penn State added to its lead. Ashton Sykes hit Brett Smith running a streak on the sideline. Smith made the catch and scored a 60 yard pass. The 14 point lead would go to 21 when Goss scored again, this time from 37 yards out. The game seemed like a lock but LSU wasn't ready to give up. On the ensuing kickoff Mitchell returned the kick for a 98-yard TD. Penn State turned the ball over on the next drive, but the defense would hold. A couple of field goals by Penn State and strong defense locked up the win for the Nittany Lions. Next week Penn State has a bye before taking on the Michigan Wolverines. This will be another tough game for Penn State, who have a brutal schedule to open the season.

Funny thing is, he played terrible against CPU BYU. I guess he was waiting till he had some real competition.

Florida State took an ass beating in week 1. We had the opportunity to stew about the loss thanks to the bye week. In the offseason the coaching staff decided to install a new offense. The players didnt like it and we reinstalled the old offense over the bye. It was a seemless transition and the team picked it back up right away. The Seminoles proved we had some fight left and took it to Boston College early. We jumped out to a 35-0 first half lead. We had a balanced attack on offense and the D was finally able to stop something after being shredded by Iowa. Seniors Scott Jones and Victor Simpson lead the way on offense. Jones completed 70% of his passes for 270 yards and 3 TD. Simpson caught 6 balls for 123 yards. On the defensive side of the ball, sophomore CB Warren Nash had a good game. He had some huge shoes to fill when Lamarcus Joyner graduated. Nash is solid against the run game and had 6 tackles plus a pair of passes defended. It was a nice bounce back after the Iowa loss. Id like to see us get a streak going now. But it will not be easy with in-state rival Miami coming to town next week.

    #11 Georgia 35
    Michigan 21

The Bulldogs escaped Ann Arbor is a wh&re with a win. The Georgia defense had trouble stopping the pass most of the day, but was able to force 3 interceptions. DE Andre Kelly also had 2 sacks. The defensive backs will be getting worked at practice, as Michigan completed 6 or 7 3rd down conversions of over 8 yards. RS Jr HB Nick Cole paced the offense, with 115 yards and 3 TD. RS Jr QB Zach Brown was efficient, completing 13 of 14 passes for 181 yards.

Michigan finished with 397 passing yards and 3 TD, but could only manage 25 yards on the ground on 13 carries.

    GG Big Suge.

A trip to Starkville, MS is next for the Dawgs.

    USC 42
    Notre Dame 23

USC struggled on defense in the annual rivalry game vs Notre Dame but luckily the offense was on fire led by QB Kerry Stanley who had the best game of his college career. He had an amazing rating of 344.9 and was 12/15 throwing for 316 yards and 4 TDs, he also had 75 on the ground and 2 TDs bringing his total to 6. 2 of the TDs were to standout freshman WR Alvarez who also had 100 yards receiving for the day. USC heads to Stanford next week for the Pac-10 opener.
