LOS ANGELES, CA - The Trojans put together an impressive performance in all three phases of this game against the much less talented squad from Washington State. On defense, USC only allowed 36 total yards of offense from the Cougars, picking up an interception and sacking the quarterback 5 times. The Cougars were only able to pick up 3 first downs the entire game. Red shirt sophomore OLB Bill Baker led the defense with 7 tackles, 3 for a loss, accompanied by (RS) Freshman DE Maurice Gaddis' 5 tackles and 1.5 sacks as well as Senior FS Matt Kilpatrick's 3 tackles and interception that was returned for a touchdown.
Offensively, USC was unstoppable, putting up 378 yards against the Cougar defense. Senior QB Max Wittek had a less than stellar completion rate, but still managed to put together 246 yards and 3 touchdowns. He was surrounded by a great supporting cast including Junior RB Deshawn Minor who rushed for 158 yards and 2 touchdowns, as well as Senior WR Marquise Lee's 12 receptions for 173 yards and 2 touchdowns.
Player Note: Marquis Lee also added 104 return yards and had a punt return for a touchdown that was called back on a penalty.
    Game Statistics
    QB: Max Wittek - 19/39, 246 YDS, 3 TD
RB: Deshawn Minor - 21 Carries, 158 YDS, 2 TD, 1 REC, 5 REC YDS
WR: Marquise Lee - 12 REC, 173 YDS, 2 TD, 104 RET YDS (Offensive Player of the Game)
FS: Matt Kilpatrick - 3 Tackles, 2 Tackles for a loss, 1 INT, 1 TD

So far the Georgia defense has performed at a very high level this season, but they will be tested next week against LSU. They were not really tested in week 4 against Arkansas. The Razorbacks managed just 200 yards of offense, with the running game getting just 45 yards. The Bulldogs' pass defense also played well, allowing QB Allen to complete just 18 of 40 pass attempts. He was picked off twice. On offense, HB Cunningham did the work near the goal line, scoring 4 touchdowns from inside 10 yards. Cunningham also caught a screen pass and scored from 64 yards. That was 1 of 2 long passing touchdowns by QB Adams. He also completed a 75 yard TD to star freshman WR Mitchell. Mitchell led UGA in all receiving categories. He finished with 4 receptions and 142 yards. Backup HB Jenkins once again outplayed starter Cunningham, finishing with 10 carries for 117 yards. He scored a 67-yard TD late in the game.

The Husky offense has struggled all year and were looking for a fresh start against the Sun Devils. Early on it did not look promising as starting Halfback Kyle Lewis went down with what looks like a season ending injury. In the end everything came together for the Huskies. Their defense again played well sacking the ASU QB 5 times and forcing 1 interception. Backup Halfback Tony Taylor carried the ball 16 times for 135 yards and a score. Junior Matt Swan played lights out going 23-34 for 321 yards and 5 touchdowns. Washington will look to continue it's momentum next week versus conference rival UCLA.

Iowa State started this game on a mission to finally take back the Cy-Hawk trophy after a 4 year absence. Their first drive was a long one, 10 plays or so, as their no huddle offense confused the Iowa defense. On Iowa's 25 yardline and a 3rd and 15, the Cyclones went to the endzone only to be incomplete. Thanks to a user offsides though, it was now 3rd and 10, and a screen pass to RB R. Standard scored from 20 yards out to make the score 7-0 Cyclones. Iowa would answer on a 5 play drive that culminated in a 56 yard TD pass to WR Sylvester Johnson, who ran a 5 yard curl after QB Adam Reese read blitz and audibled, WR E.J. Turner got a great block downfield to spring him. Tied 7-7 the Cyclones would answer with a 13 play 82 yard drive, and a 37 yard TD run by Standard to go up 14-7.

Early in the second quarter the Hawkeyes drove it right down the field and looked to tie it up until Reese made a terrible read on an out route for Turner and the Cyclone cornerback A. Davis one-handed the interception. He returned it 93 yards for the TD and a 21-7 stunning lead that silenced the crowd at Kinnick. That was the best pass Reese threw all day though because it ignited a fire in both the Hawkeye offense and defense. Iowa went on to score 5 TD in the second quarter and 9 TD total that went unanswered as they demolished the Cyclones. WR E.J. Turner started it off on the next drive with a 73 yard play-action bomb, he followed it up with a 54 yard TD catch and a 26 yard TD reception, all in the second quarter. The Iowa defense also scored on a 60 yard interception return and the offense got a 2 yard TD run from RB Mikail McCall. Halftime lead was 42-21 Iowa.

Turner got another 46 yard TD reception and a 7 yard TD reception in the second half for a Hawkeye record of 5 receiving TDs in one game. Iowa went 8-9 on third down and QB Reese finished the day 14/22 with 394 yards and 6 TD passes to go with his 1 interception. Turner finished with 7 receptions for 241 yards and his 5 TDs. Iowa still ran for a team total of 226 yards and 3 TDs even with all the passing yards. The defense forced 3 interceptions and recorded 2 sacks even though they didn't pressure the QB most of the day.

Iowa has a bye week next week and will take the extra preparation as they host the Ohio State Buckeyes in week 6.

The scoring CAP is 65. If I see one more person break it, the game will be simmed. Repeat offenders will lose scholarships as well. This is the final warning. This is telling me sliders are still to easy as well...

I got a candidate this year too, might be back-to-back winners for the Bulldogs.

The MVP campaign threads will be going up in week 5, so begin thinking about who you would like to be considered this season.

Michigan went down to the OLE HEART OF DIXIE and got the huge win on the road. We lost all results and stats and highlights because I got signed out after the game. I simmed until I won. Michigan stuck to the formula of strong defense and strong running from HB Rawls and were able to grind out the win. We were able to setup a couple of deep shots to Timmons and a big PA TD to the TE. We lost WR Timmons on an injury for 4 weeks during the sim which is BS but ah well. GG Murk.
