The Ducks rebound from their loss to UCLA with a win over Cal. Samuel threw for 390yds 3TD but threw 2 picks, he added 101yds 2 TD on the ground. Simmons led the WR with 103yds TD. Oregon host Arizona next week and need a big victory as my entire recruiting board should be in attendance.

Pissed Bama jumped me for that CB, wish I would have scheduled the visit earlier....

Bruins Beat Beavers;), Improve to 2-0 in PAC-10 Play
Los Angeles, CA (AP) -- Fresh off their monumental upset of the Ducks in Eugene, UCLA continues their winning ways vs an outmatched Oregon State squad. Downing and the Bruin offense struggled early in this one, and just as they found their rhythm, Lee [Downing] had to leave the game with a minor injury. Before true Freshman QB James Jameson stepped onto the field Coach Max could be seen grabbing the youngster by the jersey and mouthing the words "We have this one. No need to go crazy out there". Jameson, the High School hero, managed the remainder of the game nicely for the Powder Blue, completing 4/7 passes and most importantly he didnt turn the ball over. RB Pierre Humphrey didnt break the century mark at 94yd, but had his highest YPC avg since the Baylor game. That is good news for the Bruins who will need him to be productive as they head into the thick of PAC-10 play.
The way things have been going, the next 4 games look winnable for UCLA (ASU-WSU-@Cal-Stan). Their next real test will come during week 10 when they travel East to face UGA between the hedges. Right now Georgia is a top 10 team, and looking at their roster, Coach Max and his Bruins will have their work cut out for them.
Taking a look at the polls may hurt the feelings of some UCLA faithful. After knocking off #3 Oregon on the road the Bruins only climbed 2 spots in the coaches poll. However, they did skyrocket up to #6 in the media polls. They'll have to continue their winning ways to impress the coaches and will no doubt be anxiously awaiting the
    first BCS rankings.

Early in the week we scouted the Tar Heel defense and noticed they were very weak in the secondary. Seniors QB Scott Jones and WR Victor Simpson made short work of that secondary. They were each pulled at halftime. But the half they did play was something special. Jones completed 14/18 for 380 yards and 6 TD. Simpson caught 9 passes for 260 yards and 4 TD. I put all of his TD catches on the wire. He had a pair of very nice catches in the back of the endzone. Not a bad half for both players. HB Joe Hill would put up 115 rushing yards in his first career start and HB Tommy Smith would add 69 rushing yards in mop-up duty. Canadian JUCO Ben Roberts even got in on the action, scoring his first TD in a FSU uniform.

USC dominated this one with great play from QB Stanley who was 12/15 and threw 4 TDs and 0 INTs. With a rating of 320.8 he put on another memorable performance in the coliseum. WR Nash led the WR Corps with 174 yards and 2 TDs. USC moves to 4-1 on the season and head to Oregon St next week to take on the beavers on the road.

    Alabama - 28
    Florida - 10

This was a sloppy game all around. Jamie Ross threw for 322 yards and 2 TDs but he also was picked 3 times and sacked 4. Florida kept the ground game from doing anything also. Joey Taylor only had 58 yards and a TD before leaving with an injury. He should be back next weekend. Matt Miles had another solid game with 6 catches for 107 yards. TE Joe Parker came up big with 10 catches for 102 and 1 TD.

Goss is on a roll right now and no team has been able to slow him down. Goss helped Penn State get an early lead in the first quarter after back to back 1 play drives. Michigan appeared to be demoralized and basically threw in the towel. Nittany Lions would add another 10 points in the second quarter to go up 31-0. Fullback Lee Ralph scored on a short rushing score and he was solid when PSU went to the jumbo formation. Back to Goss, he finished with 183 yards and 2 TD, on just 11 carries. His TD runs were from 92 and 35 (see highlights below). The PSU quarterbacks attempted just 8 passes and threw for just 65 yards, but the run game and defense won this match. The defense forced a couple turnovers, including a fumble forced by Javan Jacques. Unfortunately Jacques was hurt on the play and he is expected to miss 5 weeks. Ryan Garrett got the other turnover when he intercepted a pass near the end of the game. He now has 3 picks on the season, tying him for the team lead in that category.

    Players of the Game:
HB Kyle Goss 11 carries 183 yards 2 TD

FB Lee Ralph 3 carries 34 yards 1 TD

TE Phil Mills 2 receptions 20 yards 1 TD

CB Curtis Garrett 5 tackles 1 interception

FS Marcus Jenkins 4 tackles 1 fumble forced

    #9 LSU 28
    Miss St 6

LSU started the game slow, with Matt McDaniel throwing 2 INTs to begin the game. After the Tiger defense stepped up, LSU rattled off 3 TDs. All 3 TDs were a McDaniel pas to Mitchell on 59, 26, and 19 yards respectfully. Miss St kicked a FG before the half to make the score 21-3. The second half was full of sloppy play and LSU trying to grind the clock. Miss St added a FG, and McDaniel aded one more passing TD to make the final 28-6. McDaniel was 22-36 for 349 and 4 TDs, however, he threw 3 INTs. Mitchell really had a great day with 9 receptions for 192 yards and 3 TDs.
