    #25 Miami - 59

    Duke - 21

    Tale of Two Quarterbacks

QB's Jamar Young and Patrick Brooks lead the charge today as the Canes blew out the Blue Devils. Young played for the first half while Brooks got his first snap of his young season at the very end of the first half because Masler wanted to test his redzone abilities, the result..a touchdown toss. He decided to keep Brooks in the for the remainder of the game and he proved to be a valuable asset to this team. HB George won POTG today for a nice rushing perfomance that included a couple of big broken tackles and even a couple of nice receptions.

Miami is 3-2 (2-1) and hosts Maryland Week 7.

    Stats

    J. Young - 14/19, 255 yards, 2 TD
    P. Brooks - 11/17, 171 yards, 2 TD, 5 rushes, 23 yards, TD

    J. George - 15 Att, 99 yards, 2 TD, 3 Rec, 26 yards
    P. O'Neal - 5 Att, 27 yards, TD

    D. Bass - 5 Rec, 61 yards, TD
    C. Patterson - 4 Rec, 122 yards, TD
    B. Weber - 3 Rec, 99 yards, TD

    Bruins Maul Devils in Arizona
    58-13

Tempe, AZ (AP) -- UCLA finally put it all together and gave a dominant performance vs. Arizona State. Lee Downing for Heisman? We might have to start talking about that after this game. His favorite target Hurd and his RB Humphrey were both forced out of the game by injury, so it was all left up to the Sophomore QB. Granted, he has depth at WR and 2 upperclassmen were able to step up and snag 2 TDs each, but Downing really shined in this one. 5TD passes and 53 rushing yards for the youngster who has elevated his game to unforeseen heights and has his entire team playing at an extremely high level.

Dont forget the Bruins defense. They held ASU to 13 points(missed XP) and pitched a 2nd half shutout, forcing 2 turnovers by way of interception. Senior CB and Defensive team captain Trey Hawkins lead all tacklers with 7SOLO. ASU's Air-Raid was somewhat effective as they racked up 301yd of total offense, but they couldnt score when it counted and UCLA was always ready with a big play. ASU went 5/13 on 3rd down (38%).

Hurd and Humphrey will return next game. They were sidelined early on, and went into the locker for xrays which came back negative. They could have returned, but you dont mess with success and this extra rest should have them primed for next week.

Kudos to (RS)Junior WR Adam Cox, who was relegated to #5 on the Depth Chart after true Freshman WR Josh Madison wow'd coaches in Spring Ball. Cox has been patient and finally get his shot at some real PT when Hurd went down. The 6'4 214lb Cox made the most of his time on the field snagging 2TD passes and definitely made a case for more playing time.

Next week the Bruins go back to Cali to take on a struggling Washington State squad. The Cougars are 1-3 right now and look like they are about to walk into a UCLA Buzz-saw.

Florida State played another weak ACC time. Scott Jones and Victor Simpson put on another clinic. Jones threw for 388 yards and 4TD and Simpson caught 7 catches for 168 yards and 3TD. Simpson has really stepped it up this year, particularly these last two games. The defense was solid, forcing 4 fumbles and recovering two of them. The secondary just does not know how to catch a pass. I wish I had counted the amount of times this year that a member of the secondary flat out dropped an easy INT. Next week we continue with the ACC schedule with a visit to Virginia.

LSU was too much for the Commadors. After a 7-7 first quarter, LSU rattled off 24 points in the 2nd quarter. An Evans fumble recovery lead to the first TD and two TD passes from McDaniel to Bowers and Mitchell respectively added the others. LSU dominated the second half as well. Carl Johnson scored on a 1 yard TD run and McDaniel threw an 11 yard strike to Ingram. Johnson struck again, this time on a 69 yard run to cruise to a 59-7 victory. McDaniel went 17-27 for 406 yards 5 TDs. Carl Johnson ran for 11 attempts for 146 yards and 2 TDs. Jason Bowers led the LSU receivers with 7 catches and 218 yards and 2 TDs.
