    Alabama - 45
    Tennessee - 24

Turnovers almost allow Tennessee to upset the Crimson Tide at home. Alabama is still having trouble turning the ball over and not creating any turnovers. Today they gave the ball to the Vols 3 times. Alabama's defense did just enough to help pull this one out. Jamie Ross had a sub par game, only completing 50% of his passes for 288 yards with 3 TDs and 1 interception. He also had 44 yards on the ground but lost 2 fumbles. Adam Brown picked up 2 TDs while rushing for 51 yards. Joey Taylor contributed with 85 yards and 1 TD. Matt Miles is still making a case for the Heisman Trophy. He caught 8 balls for 216 yards and 2 TDs. No other receiver had over 3 catches on the day.

    #23 Miami - 45

    #19 Ga Tech - 14

    Finally some defense!

Miami downs their rival in a big fashion today, this win will surely vault them above #20. The Canes finally showed some life on the D side of the ball as they held the Yellow Jackets under 100 yards rushing and picked off two passes. The offense hummed along as usual with Jason George have a career high rushing yards with 173, sadly Blake Weber had a career low with 25 yards receiving. Young played very well today going over 200 yards with 3 TD's, yielding to the Freshman late in the 3rd quarter. The new kid Brooks would toss a TD and run one in. Miami is starting to strengthen, let's hope it lasts.

Canes are now 5-2 (4-1) and look to be in good mid season form. One more victory will make us already better than last season. Week 9 calls for a trip to Chapel Hill to face the Tar Heels.

    Stats

    J. Young - 14/23, 269 yards, 3 TD
    P. Brooks - 9/11, 154 yards, TD, 3 Att, 6 yards, TD

    J. George - 22 Att, 173 yards, TD

    C. Patterson - 6 Rec, 160 yards, 2 TD
    D. Bass - 5 Rec, 79 yards, TD

    A. Samuel - 9 Tackles, 2 TFL, 1 INT
    A. Dowdell - 7 Tackles, 4 TFL, 2 Sacks (Good performance in his first start at his natural position)

Cal Gives Early Scare, Cant Hold Off Bruins
    41-17
Berkeley, CA (AP)-- The Golden Bears hung tough with UCLA for the first half of this game, and if it werent for a 39yd TD pass with 0:01 left in the first half the score would have been 21-17. Thanks to that bit of last-second heroics though, the UCLA Bruins were about to take a 28-17 lead into halftime and make there 2nd half adjustments.
Both schools went scoreless in the 3rd quarter upping the ante for the 4th. The Bruins would score 14 points in crunch time and tack on a FG late. Downing to Hurd would connect 6 times and Humphrey would punch it in the endzone 3 times on the day. UCLA also played sloppy at times, but in the end were still able to score enough points to finally put it beyond all doubt.
Next week Coach Max and his squad square off vs. Stanford before the big game with Georgia. UCLA is currently 6th in most major polls.
    Downing
    18/29 359 2TD 1INT
    Humphrey
    16ATT 88yd 3TD
    Hurd
    6REC 159yd 1TD

This was a sloppy game, as QB Zach Brown threw 3 INT. Two of the INT were not his fault, as freshman receivers did not attack the ball and allowed DBs to undercut routes. The offensive line is not moving people off the football and it's affecting HB Nick Cole's ability to find space. Luckily, Parsons and Jackson are picking up the slack in the backfield. The defense played well again. They have held opponents without a TD through 3 quarters in 5 of the 6 games played.

    Iowa 34
    Illinois 31

Iowa pulls out a close one after a sloppy sloppy first half. Richardson threw two INTs and backup HB Dan Conley fumbled twice to give Illinois easy offensive opportunities. Iowa also allowed a kick return for a TD right before half. Iowa would pull it together on offense in the 2nd half after putting a little more emphasis on the passing game. Richardson was unstoppable and threw for over 400 yards in the game after an impressive 2nd half. He also added 3 TDs. Conley added 95 yards on the ground after starting HB Troy Smith was injured on his first carry of the game. Iowa is now 6-1 and in the drivers seat for a big ten championship.

Again LSU was able to jump out to a big lead on a SEC West rival. After a 10-6 1st quarter LSU scored 14 in the 2nd. Carl Johnson scored both, one on a run of 2 yards and one on a pass from McDaniel. The 3rd quarter belonged to Auburn as they outscored LSU 21-7. With the game in the balance LSU defense and McDaniel responed with key stops and 3 passing TDs. McDaniel was 34-58 with 587 yards and 6 TDs. Ingram had 13 reception for 252 yards and 3 TDs.
