Alabama remains unbeaten and improves to 7-0 heading into the biggest two weeks of the season, both conference and recruiting wise.

From the get go Bama took a comfortable lead that was triggered by a 45 yard INT-TD by redshirt Junior SS Trey Beck. The backups managed to get some playing time up until some time during the fourth quarter when Ole Miss put together a come back and were within 12 points. Todd Price reentered the game and threw a 45 yard TD pass to Sophomore WR Jason Jones and the subs were put back in.

Hopefully we can stay on this streak heading into the user game battles and break some school records.

    LOL

    Georgia 63
    Vandy 3

I scored 35 in the first quarter and 28 points by the 2 minute mark of the second quarter, so a lot of clock was chewed. ;)

Defense returned 2 turnovers for touchdowns and another takeaway setup a short rushing score. Blalock found TE Gould 3 times for touchdowns, making it 5 TD's in 2 games for Gould. Blalock also threw a TD to WR #2 Mitchell. The offensive stats are not that special, despite the point total. My team played on a short field almost the entire game. Returner Herron had a long kick return to open the game and almost scored on two punt returns. The defense forced a lot of three and outs, so Vandy was usually punting from inside the 20.

    #6 Iowa 31
    Northwestern 24
The Hawkeyes almost crapped the bed on the road this week by playing like complete dogshit for almost three quarters. Finally the offensive line and the defense woke up and played well enough for the remainder of the game to scratch out a win after being down by 14 points late in that third quarter.

Iowa got on the board first late in the first quarter on a slant pass from QB Adam Reese to WR Brian Pino who caught it in stride and took advantage of bad angles to go in for a 47 yard score. Northwestern would answer on the very next drive, going right down the field and hitting a 6 yard TD pass to the corner of the end zone to tie it at 7-7.

Iowa got the next score of the game in the middle of the second quarter after driving into Northwestern territory but only coming away with a 38 yard FG and a 10-7 lead. The Wildcats would answer right back again and scored on a blown coverage by Iowa that resulted in a 36 yard TD pass and gave Northwestern a 14-10 lead with 1:40 left in the half. Iowa tried to get down the field quickly but Reese through a go route when his WR ran a hook and the Wildcat defender had an easy interception. Northwestern used that to go down and kick a FG as time expired in the first half and were up 17-10 at halftime.

Iowa would do nothing with their first possession of the third quarter while Northwestern marched down the field on their first one. Northwestern handed the ball off 8 yards out and Iowa SS Tyler Parham stripped the running back of the football, only to have Northwestern recover the fumble in the end zone for the touchdown and a 24-10 lead with 4:50 left in the third quarter. The Iowa running game was bottled up all afternoon with HB Kevin Singleton out and the line wasn't helping HB Dwayne Berry out at all. That changed with under a minute left in the quarter when they finally sprung him for a 44 yard TD to cut the lead to 24-17 Northwestern. The Wildcat threw an interception to set up this TD.

The fourth quarter saw the offensive line continue to open up holes finally, after the Wildcats turned it over on another interception, Iowa drove down and HB J. Young scored on a 17 yard TD run to tie the game at 24-24 with 5:37 left in the game. The Iowa defense forced a three and out on Northwestern's next possession. The Hawkeye offense then came out and did their part, with Reese hitting WR Sylvester Johnson on a slant pass for a 38 yard TD that ended up being the game winner.

After being bottled up most of the game Berry really crushed it late in the second half and managed 181 yards and the TD on 29 carries. Northwestern receiver Lance Edwards molested the Iowa secondary all day to the tune of 7 receptions for 147 yards and a TD. Northwestern also had 380 yards of offense to Iowa's 363, the Wildcats had 320 of it through the air (over 200 at halftime) while Iowa had 200 rushing yards as a team (fantastic fourth quarter). Both teams had 15 first downs and were equally poor on third down. Iowa had the one interception while the Wildcats gave up two in the second half and that killed them.

Freshman RB Dan Hart scores on a 66 yard touchdown run
Champaign, IL -- The Irish needed to bounce back after a horrible performance against Ohio State last week, and they were successful walking away with the win. True freshman running back Dan Hart led the Irish attack with 137 yards on 15 attempts and a touchdown. The other Irish running back, Corey Riley had 80 yards on 16 attempts. QB Reggie Williams had a better game than last week, which wasn't hard, going 6 for 13 for 94 yards and a touchdown. TE Brett Wiggins led the receivers with 3 catches for 50 yards and a touchdown on the day.
The Irish were able to get on the board first thanks to the help of the defense when Senior CB Dominique King took an interception 35 yards to the house to put the Irish up 7-0. In the second quarter the Irish were able to put up a field goal and the Illini answered back with a field goal of their own late in the quarter to make the score 10-3 Irish going into halftime. The Irish came out strong in the third quarter putting up touchdowns on consecutive drives. One coming from TE Brett Wiggins who took a short out pattern 37 yards for the score. On the following drive freshman Dan Hart showed his burst and took a run up the gut 66 yards to make the score 24-3. The Illini bounced back and scored a touchdown of their own off of a 49 yard pass from QB Steve Graham to Dusty wright to make the score 24-10. The Illini scored again to start the fourth quarter to pull within a touchdown but the Irish put the game away with a late field goal from Drew Freeman to put the final score at 27-17.
The Irish start a run of two consecutive out of conference games against Navy and Tennessee then face Wisconsin in their final conference game before capping their season with two tough user games against USC and Georgia.
