    Alabama - 24
    UCLA - 17

Things did not look good for Alabama to begin the game. John Bowling threw an interception on the first drive and UCLA then methodically moved the ball inside the 5 yard line. The Bruins decided to go for it on 4th and goal and were stuffed. Three plays later, Joey Taylor broke free up the middle for a 90 yard TD run. UCLA would quickly tie the score and then it was back and forth the rest of the afternoon. The game was tied going into the 4th quarter. The Crimson Tide used a long drive to eat the clock and scored on another Joey Taylor run; this one from 1 yard out. UCLA would get the ball back with just under 2 minutes in the game. Coach Max drove his team into the red zone again but could not convert. William Miller hit Lee Downing just as he was releasing the ball causing it to fall into the hands of Steve Yates. Alabama would take a knee to seal the victory. GG Max.

    Georgia Tech 6

In the battle of the Techs, Virginia Tech emerged victorious by a landslide. The game was all Hokie, all the time. The defense flowed to the option very quickly and didn't miss a whole lot of tackles. They did a good job of covering the QB and the pitch man, actually holding them to negative rushing yards (7 sacks certainly helps in this category).

Offensively, the Hokie QBs continued to make mistakes. Early in the game, Coach Killernuts opted to pull Davis and give Freshman Babcock a few snaps. He overthrew a post route into a pick on his first snap. He bounced back and finished 5/7 with 2 TDs and over 100 yards passing after that play. The big breakout performer on offense was freshman power RB Thomas Thompson who rushed for 128 yards and 4 TD on 12 carries in his first action of the season.

    Notable Performances
    Thompson - 12 carries, 128 yds, 4 TD, 1 Rec, 20 rec yds, 1 TD
    Garcia - 5 rec, 129 yds
    Lee - 7 tackles, 2 sacks
    Mosby - 2 tackles, 2 sacks, 1 INT
    Thomas - 3 tackles, 2 sacks

    USC 41
    Ohio St 17

This game started out really bad for USC. They could not find any open WRs and OSU was picking apart the secondary with ease, USC was down 17-6 in the 3rd quarter and once again were stuffed. On a 4th and 2 Coach Hov called the unexpected fake punt and picked a 1st down giving USC some much needed momentum, that would then lead to a USC TD and amazingly sparked the defense who from that point on gave up 0 points and had 3 turnovers leading to TDs. An amazing momentum swing that resulted in a USC win that was surely looking like a loss. QB Greg Fields led the team with 272 YDS passing and 2 TDs, while Barry Sanders Jr has a measly 40 yards rushing with his slow start to the season. The Defense won this game (after playing like shit for 2 quarters) with the 3 big TO's late in the game. GG Ceewo

You turned that game around on me quick. It was third quarter and I was up 17-6 and had just stopped a 3rd down conversion. I thought if I could get a score, that might put the game out of reach. Then the 4th down fake punt changed everything. That led to a TD. My QB did not react well at all. On two straight possessions he took hits as he was throwing that resulted in int's. USC put me away after that. Frustrating loss that drops us to 0-2 on the season. Thats a big hole to climb out of, but we still have the entire big 10 season ahead of us. GG Hova, Ill get you one of these days.

This was a barn-burner in the never easy place play, David Wade Stadium. LSU's air raid offense got off to a slow start and after a couple of exchanges of possessions, MSU returned a fumble recovery for a TD. LSU was able to answer with an 11 yard TD pass to Baker from Eric Martin. LSU would add a FG in the 2nd and befoe the half MSU added a TD to make it 13-10 going into the half. The 3rd quarter was owned by MSU as they returned an INT for a TD and threw a TD pass to end the quarter. LSU had one TD drive in the 3rd but it would come down to the 4th quarter for the Tigers. With back against the wall Eric Martin led the Tigers back with a TD drive capped by a Micha Garcia 1 yard TD run and 23 yard pass to Stephens. MSU struck back with a Gore run with 1:07 left to set up a possible upset. LSU drove the field and kicked a 32 yard FG to seal the one point win. Eric Martin had an 460 yard 1 TD game. Unfortunatly for LSU they lost their #1 receiver, Carlos Stewart for the season with a collarbone injury.
