    RIVALRY GAME

UCLA is held to -25 Total Offense

The Cal defense sure showed up today on an important recruiting game for Cal. Cal had 5 recruits on the sidelines who watched the Cal d-line dismantle the o-line of UCLA. UCLA was never a threat to score in this game even though they were able to get across mid-field a couple times. The lethargic o-line just could not handle the dominant d-line of Cal. But let's be real here folks, not many teams can handle this front 7.

Cal again fell into a QB controversy with starting QB Ware throwing 4 INT and not being on target all afternoon. Mid-way through the 2nd quarter coach Fmode made the switch and brought in QB Keller who had a fantastic day. QB Keller finished the day 9/11 with 4 TD and 2 INT while QB Ware was only 8/19 with 1 TD and 4 INT. If not for those 6 INT , this blow out would have been much worse.

Another severe problem for UCLA in this game was stopping the Cal running game. Even though starting Cal RB Smith went down in week 1 and missed all three user games he has come back with vengeance. He averaged 9 yards per carry in this game, finishing with 198. He now is averaging 6.6 yard per carry for the season.

The line bright spot for UCLA was their speed at LB. Although they could not slow down the running game, they were often able to catch Smith from behind saving many big runs. RB Smith longest run was only 25 yards while averaging 9 ypc for the game.

Coach Fmode is optimistic to see how many kids commit after this game.

    Key Contributions:

QB James Keller 9/11 129 yds 4 TD 2 INT
RB Damion Smith 22 att 198 yds 1 TD
WR George Owens 9 cth 129 yds 3 TD
MLB John Anderson 6 tack 4 sacks
OLB Dustin Greene 3 tack 4 sacks

Ya I've been slacking here lately. I took a on a new role at work so I've been pretty busy, it should slow down here next week. I will also get the 2017 D MVP together this weekend.

There's also the snipping tool under accessories in most windows OS. Essentially the same thing, just saves more time.
