(AP) Atlanta - Another game, another blowout in favor of the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. Tech blew the doors off the visiting Ole Miss Rebels 63-13 in front of a sellout crowd. The Yellow Jackets rolled up 502 yards of total offense and held the Rebs to 278 yards and only 1 TD and returned a fumble and a INT for TDs. JR-RS QB Michael Doughtery was again the star (13-15, 216 yds, 4 TDs, 5 carries for 63 yds, 1 TD). The defensive MVP was SR MLB Jabari Moore with 5 TKLS, 2 sacks, 1 INT and 1 FF.

Next week the Yellow Jackets travel to Blacksburg to face conference Virginia Tech.

Cal defense Suffocates UNC, Cruises to Victory at Home

BERKLEY, CA - The ACC champions rolled out west for a Week #3 showdown with the Cal Golden Bears who escaped tragedy in Week #1 against Auburn. The Tarheels brought returning QB C. Robinson won was able to gash Maryland HovaTheGodMC last year in the ACC title game, crushing any hopes for Tony Montana to go out a champion in his historic senior year. Cal on the other hand, had a down year last year with the offense continually searching for answers early in the season when they lost all 4 user games. There was a turnstile at the QB position without any type of consistency. WR G. Owens emerged through the midway point last year and he would mark his presence against UNC, winning player of the game.

UNC decided to take the ball to begin the game and would not be able to do much with it. They again utilized the hurry up offense to try and keep the stellar Cal defensive line at bay but that was only pipe dreams. While successfully moving the ball on the opening possession, the drive would come to a halt when former Freshman of the Year Cal FS A. Thompson would lay the boom stick on UNC RB R. Smith causing a fumble/turnover (highlight d-wire). Another MVP type play from one of Cal's best players ever under coach Fmode. This being his season year, he will be tough to replace once he's gone.

The Cal line held the UNC rushing attack to only 52 yards on the day on 21 carries. Cal was able to get a solid push up the middle while holding the ends. It's no wonder the 4 starting lineman for Cal were pre-season all Conference this year. On Cal's first possession they choose to keep it simple running Cal RB J. Harrison often for solid 5-7 gains keeping the UNC defense off balance. The ability to mix in short throws could not allow the UNC defense to settle in on either option. The balance play calling was what was missing last year and Cal now has an offensive line that can block people, THANK GOD! Cal connects for first score with a deep post route by WR G. Owens (highlight d-wire) for a 27 yd TD reception, score: 7-0 Cal.

UNC would come out on it's next drive and throw a pick 6 on it's second play from scrimmage over the middle (highlight d-wire). The #2 FS recruit from 2016 D. Greene , who was converted to LB due to A. Thompson holding that position, was able to get under the UNC receiver with his 96 speed  as a sophomore and take the ball 26 yds for a defensive TD, score: 14-0 Cal.

Things would not get better for UNC this afternoon. After not being able to get into the Cal redzone for much of the 1st half, Cal was able to add another TD from WR G. Owens with 1:10 left in the 1st half, score 21-0 Cal. Bad news Tarheels. On the following play, the first offensive play from scrimmage for UNC after going down 21-0, UNC is picked off my Cal CB Moore for another pick 6, score 28-0 Cal.

Here UNC was able to finally connect down field multiple times in the hurry up offense as the 1st half was coming to a close. UNC got their first score of the game when UNC WR Deon Fleming ran a short slant route clear across the field for a 15 yd TD reception, score 28-7 Cal. Hey, maybe this game isn't over yet.

With :20 left on the clock in the first half, Cal QB K. Ware, not to be out-done was able to connect on two long passes passes, the 2nd of which was a 31 yd TD toss to the 6'4" Cal WR K. Higgins with :03 left in the half. UNC hopes for the miracle comeback were crushed, score 35-7 Cal.

Both teams choose to run the entire 2nd half clock out after the score being 35-7 at the half.

Good game to gwill. What is usually the case in user games, all the breaks went one way. In this game, the breaks went to the home team Cal.

    Player of the Game:

    Cal WR G. Owens - 7 rec 139 yds 2 TDs

PennState goes into East Lansing and gets a big road win. I should be much happier but the game didn’t play out as it should. Going into the 2nd half tied 21 all the Spartans force PSU to 3 an out on the opening drive. MSU puts together a solid drive only to be picked off at the 20. On the very next play PSU gets stuffed on a stretch play fumbles but recovers only to have Gngsta4Lyphe get dropped. We decided to play a half since it was tied and I get ball first. And as everyone knows once that happens the whole game atmosphere changes. Unfortunately that was for Sparty as they would lose 27-0 on the 1st half restart. GG Gngsta4Lyphe hopefully this doesn’t come back to ruin your season.
