The Sun Devils traveled to Seattle to take on the #3 ranked undefeated Huskies in a driving rain storm. ASU won the toss and elected to defer choice until the second half. The desert swarm defense gave up a couple first downs on the first drive of the game, but were able to force a Husky punt at around midfield. The Devils were able to convert some big third down plays on their first drive, culminating in a TD. Washington's next drive ended in an interception, which was then converted into a 49 yard FG by Kenneth Clark, for a 10-0 ASU lead. A minute and a half later, CB Allen Gardner forced another INT, which was returned 78 yards for a TD and a 17-0 ASU lead with 3:28 left in the half. ASU was able to force Washington into another punt on their last drive of the half. ASU marched into field goal range and finished a drive with a 28 yard field goal with no time left in the half.

In the second half, Washington switched up their play calling to more aggressive defense and a fast strike passing offense. It worked extremely well, leading to a huge third quarter for the Huskies. Washington forced an ASU interception on the first drive of the second half. It didn't take long for the Huskies to conjure up a 51 yard pass play from QB K Mills to WR J Miller. The UW defense then stopped the ASU offense cold on its next drive. QB K Mills again found WR J Miller for a 51 yard TD, this time against a busted cover 3 defense on a beautiful post route. Washington had huge momentum and they were only down 20-14 with 1:54 left in the third.

The Washington defense was all over the place in the late third / early fourth quarter. After forcing another punt, Washington was able to put together another drive. This time, it ended in a 37 yard field goal with 4:30 left in the game to cut the deficit to 3. Arizona State attempted to take the air out of the ball, but were again thwarted by the revitalized Husky defense. Washington had the ball, with 3 minutes left and a chance to tie or win the game. The Husky passing game had no problem slicing up the ASU secondary. The drive finished with a K Mills to J Miller 14 yard TD toss, to take a 24-20 lead with only 51 seconds left in the game. Arizona State had 2 timeouts left. Arizona State was able to move the ball well on the final drive, mixing in a couple runs with a strong intermediate passing game. The Sun Devils moved the ball all the way down to the Husky 8 yard line with 8 seconds to play in the game. ASU attempted to throw a short curl into the end zone for a TD, but it was knocked down by UW's defense, leaving 4 seconds on the clock. On the final play from scrimmage, QB Macklin hit TE Godfrey in the end zone for a game winning TD with no time left.
