    Legacy: Freshman Focus 1

Freshman Focus is the annual article done on the freshman of the Legacy and how they are fairing in the first year of their career. Each year with award 1 play with Freshman of the Year and a spot on the Legacy History thread.

This is the first installment of the series as we take a look at freshman who are making noise out there:

    USC Trojans

    Freshman (RS) CB Torrin Harris
    Stats: 6 Tackles, 2 INT, 6 Deflections, 1 TD
Synopsis: Torrin was a big surprise this year in the USC secondary as he always seems to be around the ball. He is only a nickelback yet leads the team in deflections and has 2 INTs along with 1 being taken back to the house. He always seems to be around the ball and is ready to make plays on it.

    Alabama Crimson Tide

    Freshman (RS) HB Eddie Lacy
    Stats: 41 Atts, 168 YDs, 5 TDs
Synopsis: Eddie plays in a stacked Bama backfield and still manages to be productive with his carries. With Richardson out with an injury Eddie has taken advantage of the carries and produced nothing but TDs. 5 TDs through 6 games is not bad. He seems to be the go to guy in the redzone for the Tide.

    Freshman K Cade Foster
    Stats: 4/4 FGM, 27/27 XP%, 100% Accuracy
Synopsis: Kickers usually don't make noise, especially Freshman Kickers, but this guy is PERFECT on the season so we have no choice but to follow him. A TRUE freshman and he has not missed one kick on the big level. Let's see if he can keep this up throughout the tough SEC schedule.

    Auburn Tigers

    Freshman HB Michael Dyer
    Stats: 91 Carries, 485 YDs, 9 TDs, 1 Fumble
Synopsis: The man who stands 5'8 has been nothing short of dominant in his recent stint at Auburn. The True Freshman has amassed 485 yards and 9 TDs in the first 6 weeks of the season. He has been the vocal part of the Tiger offense and has been durable through his heavy load of carries. He has only put the ball on the ground once, not bad for a rookie.

    Georgia Bulldogs

    Freshman (RS) QB Aaron Murray
    Stats: 110.7 Rating, 39/81 572 YDs, 2 TDs, 2 INTs, 48% Compl.
Synopsis: Aaron is not having the greatest statistical year but he is leading his team as a Freshman. He has made some big plays and won a few games for the Dogs. He needs to get his completion percentage up but other than that he is being rather efficient with the ball. Let's see if he can keep his poise throughout the season

    Miami

    Freshman (RS) MLB Shayon Green
Stats: 16 Tackles, 3 For Loss, 1 INT, 1 Deflection
Synopsis: Green is playing huge in the middle for the Canes. He has 16 tackles, good for 2nd on the team, and also has made a few plays in coverage. He look's like the future of the Canes LB core and is making a splash early in the season for Coach Masler.

    Michigan

    Freshman (RS) CB Justin Turner
Stats: 23 Tackles, 1 Tackle for Loss, 4 Deflections, 1 FF
Synopsis: Turner has been a force in the michigan secondary. He can cover but what he can really do is TACKLE. He is second in the team with 23 tackles and plays CB. He also has a Forced Fumble so he knows how to lay the load. If he can make some more plays on the ball he will blossom into an All American CB.

    FOTY Early Polls:

    1. HB Michael Dyer
    2. MLB Shayon Green
    3. CB Torrin Harris
    4. K Cade Foster
    5. CB Justin Turner

    Week 10 Update

Week 10 Rolls on In and It's time for an update on our Freshman:

    USC Trojans

    Freshman (RS) CB Torrin Harris
    Stats: 16 Tackles, 2 INT, 9 Deflections, 1 TD
Synopsis: Torrin continues to make plays in the secondary. Though he has not had any more INTs his deflection count continues to rise. He is also getting a good amount of tackles for a Nickelback. We really need to see more game changing plays though...

    Alabama Crimson Tide

    Freshman K Cade Foster
    Stats: 6/6 FGM, 42/42 XP%, 100% Accuracy
Synopsis: The man is STILL perfect. If he keeps this up we may see an upset in the FOTY race. He is kicking FGs like It's nothing. He is doing this in the SEC as well, very impressive.

    Auburn Tigers

    Freshman HB Michael Dyer
    Stats: 156 Carries, 842 YDs, 11 TDs, 3 Fumbles
Synopsis: Dyer continues to carry his team on the ground. He is averaging over 5 Yards per carry and well on his way to a 1,000 yard season. He is having a few fumbling issues and needs to shore that up quickly. Defiantly an early favorite for FOTY with his production on the field.

    Georgia Bulldogs

    Freshman (RS) QB Aaron Murray
    Stats: 121.2 Rating, 88/186 1489 YDs, 8 TDs, 7 INTs, 47% Compl.
Synopsis: Aaron is starting to turn things around by raising his QB Rating about 15 points but at the same time his completion percentage has dropped 1%. He is getting the yards and has about a 1 to 1 TD to INT ratio. None the less he is playing great ball for a freshman in a VERY tough conference.

    Miami

    Freshman (RS) MLB Shayon Green
Stats: 40 Tackles, 6 For Loss, 3 INT, 1 Deflection
Synopsis: Green continues to be a tackling machine for the Miami defense. He leads the team with 40 tackles and is also making plays with 3 INTs. He is the best defensive freshman in the Nation and is making noise for FOTY.

    Michigan

    Freshman (RS) CB Justin Turner
Stats: 37 Tackles, 2 Tackle for Loss, 5 Deflections, 1 FF
Synopsis: Turner continues to make the tackles but is not doing much in pass defense. Tackling is great from a CB but the coaches also want to see some coverage out there. A few more INTs and he will have a very worthy season of play for the Boys in Blue.

    FOTY Award Polls:

    1. HB Michael Dyer Auburn
    2. MLB Shayon Green Miami
    3. K Cade Foster Bama
    4. QB Aaron Murray Georgia
    5. CB Torrin Harris USC

Week 14 is here and it's time to take one last look at our impact freshman:

    USC Trojans

    Freshman (RS) CB Torrin Harris
    Stats: 33 Tackles, 2 INT, 9 Deflections, 1 TD
Synopsis: Torrin had a great season at nickelback but has fell back in the recent weeks when it came to making plays on the ball. He has a solid tackle total and overall had a good year at corner.

    Alabama Crimson Tide

    Freshman K Cade Foster
    Stats: 16/17 FGM, 60/60 XP%, 94% Accuracy
Synopsis: The kid FINALLY misses a FG. He missed a 50+ yarder but made many others along the way. A great season for the young kicker who should have a very good career at Bama.

    Auburn Tigers

    Freshman HB Michael Dyer
    Stats: 229 Carries, 1414 YDs, 21 TDs, 7 Fumbles
Synopsis: Dyer continues to be productive in the auburn back field surpassing 1000 yards and 20 TDs for his freshman season. He is having trouble holding the ball with 7 fumbles on the year. This is something he needs to work on to not hurt his team in the future. None the less he has put up monster stats for a freshman and should be poised for a huge run in his sophomore year.

    Georgia Bulldogs

    Freshman (RS) QB Aaron Murray
    Stats: 134.6 Rating, 117/240 2125 YDs, 15TDs, 11 INTs, 48% Compl.
Synopsis: Perhaps the surprise of the year, QB Murray has led his Bulldogs to some huge upsets the last few weeks. First the freshman led his team to a victory pass a ranked auburn team. A Week later he traveled TO USC and beat the #2 ranked trojans on the road. Next week they face the number 1 team in the nation, the final test for the young leader of the georgia offense. His rating is up and INTs are down and the wins he is bringing to his team are more impressive than any stats. The new favorite for FOTY. Let's see if he can keep the win streak alive.

    Miami

    Freshman (RS) MLB Shayon Green
    Stats: 63 Tackles, 9 For Loss, 3 INT,Sack, 1 Deflection
Synopsis: Green continues to lead his team in tackles as a Freshman. Clearly the best freshman defender in the league, Green looks to make even more of an impact next season. He should be a force and leader for years to come holding down the middle of the LB Core at the U.

    FOTY Award Polls:
    1. QB Aaron Murray Georgia
    2. HB Michael Dyer Auburn
    3. MLB Shayon Green Miami
    4. K Cade Foster Bama
    5. CB Torrin Harris USC

Murray and Dwyer are having nice seasons. No way a kicker should win it, are they even considered part of the team?
