    Legacy: Freshman Focus 3

As we roll into the 2012 season we await to see if the world will end and who will win the FOTY award this season. Let's take a look at the freshman making early impacts so far:

    WR John Lacey :5stars:
    Stats: 11 Rec, 213 YDs, 1 TD, 0 Drops
Synopsis: John has stepped right in to the USC WR Corp as the starting slot wideout. He has 11 receptions this season for over 200 yards and ZERO drops. He has good speed and sticky hands, the perfect combo for a slot WR and very impressive no drop stat for a freshman.

    WR Cedric Hall
Stats: 9 Rec, 260 YDs, TD, 1 Drop
Synopsis: Cedric has exploded onto the scene at Oregon with over 250 yards receiving and a TD. He leads all Oregon WRs in yardage. He has good speed and has been able to make the big plays all season.

    MLB Ryan Ostrander :5stars:
    Stats: 21 Tackles, 5 TFL, 1 Defl
Synopsis: Ryan has been nothing short of a beast this season leading the "Linebacker U" in tackles with 21. The true freshman stands 6'4, 246 pounds and has been flying to the ball every game. He looks to be the young leader of the PSU defense.

    SS Larry Hollis
    Stats: 20 Tackles, 3 TFL, 3 Sacks, 3 Defl
Synopsis: Larry has been all over the field for the Hawkeyes this season with 20 tackles, 3 sacks, and 3 defl. He has shown the ability to stop the run, rush the passer, and play pass defense. He is a triple threat at safety and should continue to make the plays for Iowa.

    WR Matt Miles :4stars:
    Stats: 17 Rec, 269 YDs, 1 Drop
Synopsis: Matt has been putting up huge numbers at Bama this year with the departure of WR Julio Jones. He leads the team with 17 Rec and 269 YDs, leading all freshman in yards. He has yet to find the endzone but has only dropped the ball once and is a very efficient target.

    QB Zach Brown :4stars:
    Stats: 161.1 Rating, 35/51, 522 YDs, TD, 0 INT
Synopsis: After stud QB Aaron Murray (former FOTY winner) went down for the season Zach was forced to step in and perform and he has quite admirably. He is protecting the ball and moving it. He only has 1 TD but over 500 yards without throwing an INT. If he can open up a little more he may walk in the path of a former georgia QB winner.

    QB John Edwards :4stars:
    Stats: 9 Rec, 157 YDS
Synopsis: John Edwards, no not the former politician, but a 6'7 WR who plays for the bulldogs and is playing well. With monster size and acceleration Edwards has been able to extend the offense downfield and has 9 receptions for over 150 yards. Also has 0 drops. Impressive.

    ROLB Adam Samuel
Stats: 14 Tackles, 4 TFL, INT
Synopsis: Adam is playing great for the U LB Core. He is top 2 in the team with 14 tackles and has also made a big play in the passing game with an INT. He is holding down the ride side of the defense and hopefully can continue to be a big play type LB.

    WR Eric Carter :5stars:
Stats: 14 Rec, 234 YDs, TD
Synopsis: Eric is having a huge season for the Noles leading the team in Receptions and yards and has 0 drops. He has amassed over 200 yards and found the endzone once. He has very solid hands and is the definition of a possession wideout. Let's see if he can find the endzone a few more times this year..

    TE Alex Wilson :4stars:
    Stats: 10 Rec, 171 YDs
Synopsis: Alex is making big plays all over the field averaging over 17 yards a catch this season. He is the leading TE on FSU and has 0 drops as well. Another strong young piece to the FSU offense.

    LE Chris Bush :5stars:
    Stats: 16 Tackles, 7 TFL, 5 Sacks
Synopsis: Chris has been an absolute beast on the dline this season and is easily the most impressive defensive freshman thus far. He has 16 tackles and 5 sacks already. He has a great combo of explosive speed and power. He is a pass rushing machine.

I was a little worried coming into the year with all of the young guys I had playing. But they have stepped up for me.

Osterander was a :5stars: recruit and he has been a beast. I don't blitz my MLB a lot so he isn't going to rack up sacks but he makes running very difficult. He should definitely be a top 5 candidate by the end of the season, especially since he still has 9 games left to play. I'm also starting a true freshman, Broussard, at defensive end. He has 4 sacks already, which surprises me since he is more of a run specialist. Not sure what his other stats are at this point.

Ya I tried to find all the stars by checking the recruiting threads but some of the threads were atrocious lol I will need to follow up on those more often this year.

Mine will be more organized this year. I am now doing one thread per season, rather than lumping all seasons into one thread.

I like the synopsis on Larry Hollis there for my Hawkeyes. He was a major grab in recruiting and has been excellent on the field. I'm actually surprised at how good he's been, better than the senior safety starting opposite him.

Your QB could still turn it around and get in the running. It's all about momentum and difference makers. Nobody is really tearing it up right now aside from the LE from FSU.

    Legacy: Freshman Focus 3

As the 2012 season comes to a conclusion we take a look at the finalists for FOTY:

    WR Cedric Hall
    Stats: 20 Rec, 518 YDs, 3 TD, 4 Drops
Synopsis: Cedric continues to be the leading Wideout in a run dominated offense with 500 yards and 3 TDs. He has been a solid addition to the Ducks and most productive wideout as a true freshman.

    MLB Ryan Ostrander :5stars:
Stats: 40 Tackles, 9 TFL, sack, 2 Defl
Synopsis: Ryan continues to be a solid backer for the Nittany Lions with 40 tackles, good enough for 2nd on the team. He has the big play ability and has 9 tackles behind the LOS and 31 tackles by himself alone. Should be a great Mike LB for Penn St for years to come.

    SS Larry Hollis
    Stats: 48 Tackles, 3 TFL, 3 Sacks, 3 Defl, 2 INTs
Synopsis: Larry continues to be a tackling machine with 48 tackles for Iowa which ranks 2nd on the team. He has also made some big plays in coverage with 2 INTs on the season. He is a great young safety and a leader of the Iowa defense.

    WR Matt Miles :4stars:
    Stats: 53 Rec, 716 YDs, 3 TDs, 6 drops
Synopsis: Matt continues to tear it up for the Tide and leads the team in yardage. He is having a little trouble holding on to the ball but still looks to be the best freshman wideout in the nation.

    QB Zach Brown :4stars:
    Stats: 150.7 Rating, 119/194, 1806 YDs, 9 TDs, 4 INT
Synopsis: Zach continues to play well after stepping in for hurt QB Murray. He has led his team once again to an SEC Title game and can only hope to will them to victory over favored Bama. He has been very efficient with the ball with an impressive 61% completion rating. He has 9 TDs and a fairly low INT number at 4. We will see how he plays in the big time games ahead.

    ROLB Adam Samuel
Stats: 43 Tackles, 11 TFL, 3 sacks, INT, 2 FFs
Synopsis: Adam has turned into an absolute beast for the Canes making big plays all over the field. He makes a great duo with Shayon Green and will continue to bolster the Miami LB Core. He has over 40 tackles and this kid does it all, big hits, high percentage tackles, and makes plays on the ball creating turnovers. He has to be the best young LB in the nation.

    LE Chris Bush :5stars:
Stats: 38 Tackles, 23 TFL, 16 Sacks, FF
Synopsis: Chris has been nothing short of a freak on the Dline. He has an amazing 23 tackles for loss and 16 sacks which leads the NCAA, not bad for a true freshman! He is gaining national attention for his dominant play and may well be on pace to break some records. A favorite for FOTY and not to mention has his team #1 in the polls charging for a National Championship.

    FOTY Season Polls:
    1. LE Chris Bush
    2. ROLB Adam Samuel
    3. WR Matt Miles
    4. SS Larry Hollis

It has been a good year for true freshman at Penn State this season. Ostrander is solid at MLB and Lee Broussard has 9 sacks at DE. #1 recruit Curtis Garrett is now playing in my nickle package and he has also been my primary returner for the bulk of the season. Ryan Goss also has seen the field for Penn State. This should be a message to :5stars: recruits, come to Penn State and you'll see the field as a true freshman.
